I don't know if Pat knows this, but there actually was a prank show where someone could only use coupons kinda. There was a Japanese show where a guy was locked in an apartment with no clothes and he could only get items by winning mail in contests. He had to raise something like a couple mil to get let out and eventually after like a year he raised enough money to be released... into a different apartment to do it all over again. Eventually after another year he finally made it out after living entirely off contest winnings. Basically prank shows peaked with Prank Patrol.
I don't think that Japanese one was a prank show just a really shitty extreme challenges one because I also remember either the year before or the year after the apartment one they had 2 people hitchhike from Cape of Good Hope South Africa to Norway.
@@funkybones I think he was a comedian or an actor in some capacity. I know that he played a minor recurring character in Kamen Rider Double (this was well after the trapped-in-apartment) issue.

Nathan For You is by far my favorite TV show ever. It has so many layers and ways to think about the show, that it just keeps on giving. Its a character show and its a very human show. By that I mean, so many aspects of the human nature are blatantly recorded. Its a hilarious, deep and real(?) show. Do yourself a favor and watch it. (If you are missing the beauty I'm talking about, start thinking more meta about it to get extra laughs.)
I still don't know what to think of that show. All i know is that absolutely it is not bad. It's thought provoking but wild and in ways I'm not used to lol
@@ramavalos that's what I feel like Nathen Feilder strives for and I can appreciate someone wanting to making something that is both pretty new and incredibly surreal
I remember one video where guys drove through the hood with gunshot sounds blasting from big speakers in the van. They might have also had a strobe light in the window. Very stupid idea.
That reminds me of the stunt performer sketch in Kentucky Fried Movie. A guy dressed in stunt gear walks up to some black guys and screams the N word and starts running.
After watching the Eyepatch Wolf video I was really worried that Fielder was going to accidentally get involved with a mob business and get a sledgehammer to the knees by two burly goons.
Prank shows seemed to have been phased out mostly because of changing times and, well, the format outliving its welcome. It was literal power-creep at some point to figure out crazy scenarios for people to get pranked with to the point actuall crimes got commited. I remember reading one Prank show got their network into serious legal trouble. What happened was that the show in question tried to trick a guy, who really hated his current company he worked at, into thinking he finally got scouted for his dream job at another company. And that show didn't just hire a really good look-a-like actor for the scouter, they also made the mistake of going into the, back then, "new thing" called "The Internet" to get their hands on a copy of a legit working contract of said company and, to top it all off, they falsified the signature of the owner of said company. So, when the guy who got tricked signed this paper the production company just commited contract fraud of a massive calibre, for which they paid massively for. The tricked person sued them of course afterwards (because he didn't just quit his job on the spot, he also left a "steaming" present on his then ex-bosses desk... Which that prank show btw filmed) and they were forced to basically pay that guy the promised wage of the contract for a few years. This and many more similar accidents made prank shows on TV slowly go extinct, because they couldn't keep up with finding new ways how to prank people in a way that made people tune in, and most channels and networks didn't want to risk to get sued to the moon if a stunt of theirs goes horribly wrong.
wait why does pat hate bam margera to the point of wanting him dead? genuinely curious i don’t know much abt bam margera besides he was in them tony hawk games
I don't know too much about bam beyond what I've seen on jackass and a couple of episodes of his personal TV show but he just seems to be a petty drug abusing punk that psychologically torments his family with small cruelties.
Bam hasn't been doing well since his friend and co-star, Ryan Dunn, died back in 2011. Since then, all Bam does now is party, treat his family with no respect, and can never get sober despite numerous interventions.
Not sure if you ever heard of it but their was a prank show that was legit just psychological horror. It was called Scare Tactics. The gist is that a friend elects a family member for friend of theirs to but unwittingly thrust into their own personal horror movie scenario and everyone except your friend who roped you into this is a paid actor. In those moments you see the true nature of someone convinced they will die. My personal favorite was when this guy was convinced to go looking for aliens near this military base in the desert. Through some practical effects and some really good costume design they make it seem like an alien just landed over the hill, the Alien comes stomping over the hill and rips off the driver side door and acts like they’re tacking the Jerk Friend and the guy being pranked doesn’t try to save his friend but starts running into the dark of the desert and they have to catch him tell him he’s on a prank show and that his friend set him up. I swear the adrenaline flushed out of his system and he nearly fainted.

If Nathan Fielder claims to be helping businesses, and his actual purpose is to destroy them for his show to be successful. 1: How is he not legally liable for sabotage. 2: Is he a sadistic psycopath.
