Just did this about a month ago. It was pretty straight forward but very time consuming doing it for the first time and I even have the engine out right now. I'd never do this with the engine in. It also ate a bunch of cheap cut off wheels for my 4.5" angle grinder so I got some higher end ones.
Thanks for the tutorial. I am doing an extended L shaped radiator neck so I don't need to drill the hole for the cap.
In for a tutorial for battery and fuse box relocation lol
I should have used a holesaw for my cap for a cleaner install. When i did mine 2 years ago, i did a square cut with grinder, then cleaned the edges up and put trimlock around the whole thing. Still looos decent. But a round hole would be cleaner
I used the same radiator but I cut the bottom out for the ac condenser, I used the griffin Allstar brackets, I used a mighty mouse radiator shroud and 2 spal fans, I made a bracket out of 3/8 × 2 inch aluminum and bent it around so I could bolt it in on the bottom and drilled 2 holes on the top into the Allstars brackets into the front of the core support, I cut the top the same way, it came out awesome, the ac condenser does hang down a inch and a half in the front but is no biggie, , I had to extend and bend my ac lines with compression fittings, wish I could leave a few pictures
Hey my man what did you do to retain ac ? did you use factory style fans to retain ac?
Doing this soon, keep it up bro!
Nice. I'll be doing the same for my ls thirdgen.
Looks great.
Do you got a part number for that radiator? What did you do for a transmission cooler?
What's your thoughts on a shorter radiator so the core doesn't have to be cut out. Just a hole for the filler neck. Albeit with a taller filler neck. I do get this is the no welder required technique. Good job with the description!
Great video! 👍👍👍
What’s the part number to that radiator?
What is the part number you used for the fans ?
Was this car at the 1/4mi track in baytown 6/5/20 ? I was in the black trans am on the TTii rims. I remember seeing that silver trans am. Nice cars !
Where or how did you mount the ac condenser and oil / trans coolers?
Racecar, had no a/c, could easily make mounts and put it in front of the radiator still, would need custom lines and such but anything is doable
Will this completely eliminate the A/C or will the condenser fit still?
Aftermarket condenser will fit, I used a 24x12 Vintage Air one.
Awesome job are you guys near DFW area?…
Houston
Did you end up housing the same factory fans? If so did everything fit correctly on the new radiator?
Ronnie Ronn turbo car so stock fans are not used. With some modification you could keep the stock fans in place.
What size fans did you use? 12 inch?
Dual 12” Spahls
New sub man can you put some part number s
Griffin 55241 is the normal one most ppl use when they stand them up.
What do you do with the a/c condenser ?
Sorry wrong video.
If you plan on running a/c with this setup you’ll have to extend the high side hardline that runs to the Evap core, the lower line from the compressor should have enough slack to still reach as you’re not really changing the bottom of the radiators location
What did that engine come out of
qualitymotorsport the factory LS1?
Would you post the part number for the radiator?
brandon schmiedel the radiator is a Griffin 58241-X, this particular rad is a dual pass, if you wanted to keep factory routing with the driver side rad port you’d need part number 55241-XS
What did you do with the steam port ? I see the hose just hanging
You can simply drill and tap the tank for the steam port.
How well does this radiator cool street driving? I have the 28241-x with the same pushers and it will hit 198 cruising and the fans will kick on while driving. Wondering if the mega cool will solve the issue over the classic cool. Great video by the way!
Do you have part numbers for hoses you use?
