I have not done a lot with my life, always kinda struggled and failed at a lot. But, the biggest accomplishment or compliment I ever received is when my oldest son said I reminded him of the guy in the Pursuit of Happyness. I cried like a baby, and truly was proud to know he saw me that way, if that compliment is all I ever achieve then I am content. I am truly grateful for my sons.

Funny thing talking about full circle: Pursuit of happyness is a movie that always absolutely broke me down. As a kid in a single parent household, everything in that movie registered with me. At best, we were always struggling, at worst, we slept in bathrooms (at bus stations)and shit like that. The minute I got old enough to work, I've busted my ass and never looked back. Finding Casey's vlog and seeing him GRIND for everything, made me realize you can ALWAYS work harder. That grind got me out of the situation I was in. And I'm still busting my ass to this day to not fall backwards. So seeing Will and Casey TOGETHER... Man it did something good for my soul today.

People giving you crap about your project are obviously people who have never actually made anything from scratch or been through any sort of renovation. Or started a business...especially something as all encompassing as what you propose. The Pursuit of Happiness was powerful. I was in New York in 2006 over a weekend and walked 90kms around Manhattan staying up all night and moving all the time I was there, aside from a few hours spent sleeping on the metro line between Coney Island and Jamaica Estates in Queens, it was a long run. I was in a similar place in my life and at the end of the visit I tried to watch that movie in a theatre somewhere around 42nd street? I was having the same experience, I was devastatingly moved by that movie, it expressed what it meant to me to be a Father and an underdog fired with determination and drive who had to kick open my own doors. It was so emotionally overpowering that I had to walk out of the movie before it ended. I had a young son and was fighting to find a way to make it in the world that would set me free and provide for my family. I should never have left New York City but being Canadian I went home politely. I spent the next several years building a web application that would allow people to work remotely from anywhere in the world. It was cutting edge then. I was driven and worked morning to night for years. It evolved, eventually, into a working world tour that lasted for almost a decade and allowed me to live in 26 countries around the world. In the end I was working on a social media web application for some of the biggest clients in the world from Disney to Sony to the BBC. It was in no way a straight line, a quick trip or an easy ride. It WAS life my way on my own terms making my dreams come true. Keep empowering creative people who have vision to bust their asses and make it happen. I love what you do!
Are you stuck with union labor because it’s NYC? It feels like you could bring in a small army of RUclips builders/ tradesman/ fixers/ DIYers/ etc and not only would they have it done in a week, but it would meet the core ethos of 368. It's taken me 3 days to clean and then cut and sew curtains for my tiny kitchen. People giving you crap about your project are obviously people who have never actually made anything from scratch or been through any sort of renovation. Or started a business...especially something as all encompassing as what you propose. The people who have made something or done anything real in life know that what you have already accomplished is amazing. You're amazing. And I'm available to come and bake cookies and assorted treats whenever you have the kitchen space ready.

Will is such a visionary! He's really the only traditional movie/tv star I can think of that has recognized the trend away from tv and towards youtube/social media, and who has really capitalized on it!
He's only doing it because he became box office poison and is now trying to relate to a younger audience that didn't grow up in his prime. It's definitely not a good thing for small creators if this starts a trend of absurdly famous stars starting youtube channels.
I'm not saying whether its a good thing or not, but I commend him for adapting. Any smart movie star should start taking youtube seriously. If work is slow i.e. not getting roles, they can always grow with their audience here, and on their own terms

The Pursuit of Happiness was powerful. I was in New York in 2006 over a weekend and walked 90kms around Manhattan staying up all night and moving all the time I was there, aside from a few hours spent sleeping on the metro line between Coney Island and Jamaica Estates in Queens, it was a long run. I was in a similar place in my life and at the end of the visit I tried to watch that movie in a theatre somewhere around 42nd street?
I was having the same experience, I was devastatingly moved by that movie, it expressed what it meant to me to be a Father and an underdog fired with determination and drive who had to kick open my own doors. It was so emotionally overpowering that I had to walk out of the movie before it ended. I had a young son and was fighting to find a way to make it in the world that would set me free and provide for my family. I should never have left New York City but being Canadian I went home politely.
I spent the next several years building a web application that would allow people to work remotely from anywhere in the world. It was cutting edge then. I was driven and worked morning to night for years. It evolved, eventually, into a working world tour that lasted for almost a decade and allowed me to live in 26 countries around the world. In the end I was working on a social media web application for some of the biggest clients in the world from Disney to Sony to the BBC. It was in no way a straight line, a quick trip or an easy ride. It WAS life my way on my own terms making my dreams come true.

Are you stuck with union labor because it’s NYC? It feels like you could bring in a small army of RUclips builders/ tradesman/ fixers/ DIYers/ etc and not only would they have it done in a week, but it would meet the core ethos of 368. They would have clickbaity titles for their content and 368 would be “for youtubers and by youtubers”. Don’t lose sight of the core vision, Casey. Lean into it.
