You do not have to give it any gas while taking off just slowly release clutch it'll start moving without touching the gas pedal once its moving then give it gas..
@@PicNaxe the P pump is the only reason to buy a 12 valve, 24 valve engine is way more efficient than a 12 valve, better power, better emissions, better fuel mileage, but at super high RPM's a 24 valve will loose the bridge that goes between the two valves and a 12 valve with enough boost will overcome the inefficient design on the two valves per cylinder, a 24 valve is good to about 600hp in most cases with the VP pump, a Bosch P pump can make a lot more power but usually not Street able do to black smoke, your smoke cloud should dissipate within 5 seconds, I seen a old guy with a semi at the truck pulls, pull the front wheels off the ground and out pull everybody without any smoke coming out his pipes, it's possible but most people don't want to spend the time or have the knowledge to know how to properly tune a diesel engine

For starters on a 12 valve Cummins the P pump is worth as much as the engine, there was a couple of trucks on Craigslist in my area lately going for $1000 to $1500 12 valve p pump 5 speed trucks with Dana 60/70 axle, so don't start thinking these are holy grail stuff, buy your self and second Gen dodge for parts and cheap two wheel drive and swap it in and everyone will think you really have something cool
