I dunno man, the remake looks a bit better, but the original just feel a lot more atmospheric in my eyes. The original had a very clear art direction they want to go for. The remake changed that, now it just feels like one chaotic blend of Part 2 and Part 1 styles.
I really like the warm colors on the remaster and Ellies face as well as some of the older background textures

Why did they already bother remastering a game from a last gen console when one of their bigger titles, Jak, haven't seen the light of day since PS3?
The remake looks like they just made everyone 10 years older…
Which made more sense since in such a world you’d look more stressed in the face. They all felt pain.

They are almost exactly same
I am not a fan of the filter they put over some of the cutscenes that occur, it makes the scene look blurry and less cinematic, in my opinion. I do personally love that they went in and not only created new textures for interiors, but also re-placed objects around the maps to make it just feel more dystopian, and also refreshing for returning players. I am personally excited to revisit this game, whenever I can get a PS5. Lol
If the game sells well, then that means people wanted it. If it doesn't sell well, then it will be clear that the game didn't need a remake and the devs (as well as others) won't make a similar mistake. only time will tell, I'm curious as to how this game will do. It doesn't matter how much praise or hate the game gets. All that matters at the end of the day is the total sales.
the depth of field is a cinematic effect, so technically it was less cinematic before, its almost always used in movies when the focus of the scene are the characters and not the environment, its essential for a lot of reasons and they used it in the right way here
They made it brighter. That's good, I guess.
The naming is confusing. I thought "Remastered" was the new version, wondering why the graphics looked worse.

The facial animation is 100% way better, it really goes with the acting, compare to the remaster, which seems very wooden now

This game is a whole retcon of Joel’s character. So that the uninitiated, only playing this version, would come to understand - if not all out agree with - what happened to him in 2. And they knew they didn’t have to accomplish this by changing the script. Just change a few facial expressions here and there…

It wasn't from this video, but I finally accepted Part I as a remake instead of a remaster of a remaster.
last of us part 1 remake all day. damn night and day. the remake looks more natural, more of a modern type of game. 3D models are accurate to real life which is much more immersive.
Love the remake. Get to enjoy the game again on the new hardware with upgraded visuals.
... strictly speaking on character models, I prefer Ellie's face from the original and I REALLY prefer Tess' face from the original. They made her look... OLD. I know aesthetically, she would fit better with Joel given HIS age... but the Tess of old was so badass in her younger look.
... as for Joel... I like his original, but his new is also pretty good even though at some shots, he looks fukken ASIAN. XD. But Ellie's new version is good too, I just prefer the original. Tess is just an absolute NO.
It's weird, I actually love Tess' new face, especially since it gives her some much needed emotion that I didn't feel on the ps3 version. Ellie however, looks way too weird for me. My brain can't accept that she looks like this in these scenes now.
Same goes for Marlene. It’s like there was a conscious decision to uglify the female characters and close shirts and shrink breasts as a continual penance by Neil. None of the women can be even remotely attractive, lest they’re objectified.

Its close, it's really close. I prefer the lighting in the new version but the colour and character design in the old version.
This is not a Remake, it is a Remastered, The Last Of Us Part 1 Remastered from upgraded graphics This is the only game they use unreal engine 5 to look like Alan Wake Remastered, it is part 1 Remastered, and PS4 is just Next Gen
Call me crazy but I love the rich blacks of the older version, the desaturated new look makes it look like a ps3 game. The remake looks better in dark areas though I will give it that.
Two versions look almost same that this point I think remastered is pretty pointless
do all the remake characters look more yellow or am I crazy, idk. I think I was looking at the wrong side lol. I think they aged up Tess a bit too much.
5:30 Remastered contrast is epic compared to Part 1. WTF did they do?!?!?
The only part with contrast,(which surprised me) was when flashlights got involved. 2:46
The contrast is the atmospheric part of a game, the depth of field of view, ambience ETC.
Visually i think it looks amazing and a lot cleaner and less like a cartoon and the small detail to make it more of a tie to part 2 they have the fedra wording on the security uniforms and signs in the background being part of the small minority I would get the ps5 version for the visual upgrade experience my only complaint is why they made joel look the same age as he is in part 2
Graphics wise...it looks good and Ilumination looks more real (Ray tracing going on there and here) with the new animation and the new rigs for the characters. Just the thing and maybe it's only me... Are the scenarios cleaner than before in some parts? Seems that some props were removed.
The green scenarios look really Nice and Improved ~
The remastered looks like it has more colors and texture. Inside buildings looks better in PS5 version tho.

Yeah it still looks visually appealing on the PS4 Pro if you set it for 1800p visuals aside from framerate performances

In the remaster, the look on Ellie's face when she's leaving Marlene is that of a worried child trying to hold it together.
She just looks confused in the remake. I actually think Naughty Dog dropped the ball changing the faces and animations this much.
The thing I did not like, playing both the remastered and the remake, is on Grounded mode for the remake they lowered the difficulty of the infected, they did this to show off the new AI system to make it stand out, which did not sit well with me.
The bloaters were way too easy to kill, I remember some levels in the remastered version that was nearly impossible to get past, and now it's a walk in the park. This is what spoiled it for me!
The remake is for visuals but the remastered version is for playability.

Better illumination, shadows, water and rain effects. More grass and dirt. That's the difference. Otherwise, it is not a remake. It is just a remastered remastered.

Every emotional scene you shown has changed the facial expressions for the worse.
I believe, they created this remake just so they can have the budget for TLOUpt3 development.
Does it justify the $70 price? No. But I’ll still buy this game because I really want to see and experience the improvements. The Remastered is a bit outdated as well so this remake is really the best version of this game.

What is what? I mean, both are part 1 and both are remastered.... For me the environnement of the Part 1 (left) is way better. But I prefer characters and color on the right. On the left they have a orange/red face lol wtf

I guess it could work as they had to scape things down from the e3 2018 trailer. At the very least, the facial animations could use some work as they looked very stiff for the most part (ex. Jin tends to have a dull expression).
Don’t hold your breath. It did well and took home (earned) awards, dropped a decent DLC, made a PS5 version, and peaced out. Which is how you should do it.

Although, I would LOVE for a glorious PC port for Ghost of Tsushima.

Honesty, it's a hit, miss or a draw depending on the scene. It's essentially another Spider-Man Remastered, Sonic Adventure DX or Sonic Colors Ultimate where they mess with perfection and make some things look worse/out of place.

Graphics wise, no doubt the new one wins. But I think it lost its soul. The emotions are well given to the player in the original. The new one lacks the facial expressions and some very important atmosphere...
