The best change was the graphics, accessibility modes, and game modifiers. Whether it's worth it well depends. Also it's obvious for me obviously which one LOOKS are better. Imo
@@raf686 Well, I wasn't saying it isn't different, nor that I couldn't notice the differences. I was merely saying the video should be consistent in displaying the two games, and not keep swapping them around.
Honestly. At the beginning I mixed up the remaster with the remake. That’s how good the remaster holds up. I think it looks better in some parts regarding the graphics. Although I’m sure the gameplay is more refined in the remake.
🤨 idk how anyone can mix up the remaster with the remake, while the remaster holds up really well, there’s still an obvious difference, and the biggest give away being the character models lmao like I must be either blind or something because not once in a technical graphical standpoint have I seen the remaster being graphically better. I can understand the artistic direction being better than the remake and people preferring how characters and scenes, and the environment looks in the remastered, but to say at any point that the remaster is better graphically than the remake is just a stretch
@@TheOnlyDarias To be fair it was just for a brief moment and maybe because I was watching it on the phone. As you say, I think Ellie’s face is better on the remaster (and I really didn’t like Tess’s new face but that is way after in the trailer) and for a second that is what made me think the remaster was the remake and also the fact that it holds up really well. The remake looks better in general but the lighting in some scenes was better in the remaster.
As a newcomer it would be worth that eighty bucks. As someone who already played the game, yeah maybe I'll wait until a sale... and until I get a PS5... Edit: One plus: A PC port is coming. I look forward to seeing mods in this game! Edit 2: Well that aged like milk.
@@negativitronprime Its not really a rip off. Veterans of the series don't need to buy it. Its a great deal for first timers. Those interested in getting the PC Port are in for a good deal since it would still cost the same with or without the vastly remade visuals. And the Mods aspect is amazing. Being able to properly Mod previously PS exclusives was something we've been waiting for for almost a decade.
I really appreciate this breakdown, and I am looking forward to revisit this game on PS5, since I only played the PS3 version years ago. I know this won't be enough for a lot of people, and they definitely could have added more, gameplay wise, like the Dead Space or RE4 remakes. However they are different cases and I appreciate that these games got updated the way they did. I can only imagine someone getting a PS5 and not having played any of these, over a decade old games, experiencing them for the first time.
Don’t forget the trophies are changed, adding some secret trophies while also removing a bunch of difficulty trophies.. dumb beating grounded isn’t a trophy anymore.. The in game challenges for unlocking is gone, also the statistic page showing ur accuracy, amount of kills, and everything else it kept track of is gone.
Honestly, the remaster seems better to me. Sure the lighting looks better in the new one and some of the changes are good like reading the notes in hand instead of a menu. But the rest of it doesn't justify the price.
@@Mellonotes It's such a bizarre cash grab. I thought ND would try and subvert the original game more and add more things to make it fit in better with the dumpster fire sequel. @@southernfried19 LOL, whats realistic about making everything ugly. The Original Tess was modeled almost identically after the actress who voiced and mo-capped her. Tess was around her early 30s. Fighting the the apocalypse will keep you fit, It's not like she was covered in makeup.

Once you have this version, you may as well chuck the remastered one away in a dust bin.

Only here because its a free ps plus game catalogue download, you forgot to mention the trophies are also very different from the ps3 version and the remaster.
I'm pleased I bought it but was expecting them to make more changes, maybe to bring it in line more with the TV series but also more gameplay mechanics updates. I'll always enjoy a run through the game and it's great to have it on current gen, but it does feel pretty much like another remaster. So I wish I'd bought RE4 instead and left this one until there was a bigger discount.
Personally I'm happy they are keeping it in line with their game, after all that is where the material started why bend over backwards to make it suit the TV show?
@@Geostationary0rbit just saying I already had the original remaster and didn't really feel like this was much worth paying over £60 for, just for a slight improvement of graphics. I actually think it would have been more enjoyable and more worth the huge cost if they'd taken a different approach, given that the original remaster is still playable on current gen. £60 for a reskin feels excessive.
Wow! These changes make it completely pointless to waste AU$125 on the game when the Remastered edition is like AU$10 at a hock shop & new for AU$25. If you buy this version, might I interest you in some magic beans? Guaranteed to make a ridable platform to find treasure!

The surgeon and operating room change is unacceptable to me. No one would let a doctor even apply a cast to a broken arm in the original. That OR was a horror house. Neil has solidified his place next to George Lucas in altering the original work to fit his current narrative, beliefs and opinions.
@@gavinjames7086 lmao I can afford the game several times over, just not worth paying that much for a cashgrab crappy remake of a barely ten year old game

Yeah they keep pushing all those "seamless cutscenes" and "fluid animations" to a point where people will start thinking like that stuff matters. It does but maybe for a 10$ upgrade. Without the descriptions I sometimes need a double take to know which version is which.
