There are many other harmony training videos, but none can match the brilliance of Nic's perfectly tucked shirt just over the belt buckle. I love this video! Don't feel bad Nic, that is totally something I would be caught with.
Great lesson in harmony. I watched the Basic Training in Harmony and then this Training Level 1. I like how you go through the vocal pattern in detail so the viewer can understand what is happening. Anna, your teaching skills are awesome. Thank you !
How I learned to harmonize: 1. My friend played 2 harmonizing keys on piano app and we sang the keys one at a time to familiarize and learn how harmonizing works. 2. My friend played a random note and I had to guess what key will harmonize the random note, and she’ll tell me if I did it right, and let me hear the note using the piano app. It’s difficult for a newbie but yeah it helped me a lot and now I can harmonize well in every song.
This is wonderful! Thank you for this! I have sang solo for years, but recently got into a band so I needed to learn harmony. I can't naturally hear the harmony so this is wonderful! Keep doing what you do!
Thank you so much for this information. My sons are both interested in music (singing and playing musical instruments) [my eldest son, Brian] took violin lessons, and was doing very well (I believe) but his violin instructor made him very nervous, so everyone more or less forced him to stop playing the violin- which did break my heart. He was very young when they forced him to stop. (Possibly about 11 years old). He will be 14 years old in a few months. But I don't know why they (people in general) think that you have to be a musical prodigy to have people believe you should play any musical instrument. I know, with someone who is willing to encourage him, he could go far. It is such a shame. Both of my sons are interested in music, but they need someone who is patient, to coach/instruct/help them. I only see my sons for four hours a week, at best, which is very heartbreaking. But thank you so much for this instruction.
Just wanted to say that, after practicing with this video for an hour or two while doing some other things, my harmonization ability improved immensely! No longer was I missing all my harmonies, but suddenly I was starting to hit them.
Hello Anna! I was just rambling around singing lessons when I came up to this and I was like "Is that my former teacher Anna!?". I was your student for a few weeks some years ago. Maybe you remember a Costa Rican student you got in London. Very nice to see you in these videos! Greetings from Costa Rica.
I found this very helpful because you can clearly hear the different parts! My pet peeve is when somebody’s trying to teach her money but their voice dominates the other person and you don’t clearly hear the parts as a result. Great job guys!
hey thank you for these videos! i love to sing and i recently joined a choir and while i can sing melodies, harmonies kill me. these vids are really helping me with ear training!
Ah the 3rd was so hard towards the end!! But this video has really helped me feel the best I have when trying to learn harmonies, thank you!! You’re a great teacher ^.^
Fantastic. I’ve tried to learn how to harmonize. It’s not so easy to me. It’s difficult to know the right direction in which key to sing 😆 So it’s fine to sing together with you, but I always ende it singing in another pitch 😆
Wauw...awesome...awesome this video...."I am singing in harmony too"...I just heard something blended...blending voices...both of you..together...thank you...Anna...and Mark and...(so sorry..I mean all of you)..
First timer, Thanks for your excellent teaching. Now 59 years old and missed out on so much by thinking I was a natural. My guitar and singing along with radio with has taught me much, but I sing across the scale and tend to attempt to sing all parts, I have no idea how to provide the harmony in a duo, trio, etc..
This is really helpful, but if the piano could be louder it would be even more helpful. It’s kinda hard to hear the note when both of you are singing. Thanks!
Nice to hear from you, guys! Beautiful! It sounds like Christmas with all three of you singing "A-a--aaaa " 😊 👏 Thank you for posting! I am also singing in harmony with you, all . 😊😙
Hi! Can you make a video on how to use your diaphragm when singing. and also how to not constrain your throat (i feel like I'm constricting my throat alot of times) while doing exercises/singing thank you! :)
+totallynotblake We'll certainly look into this. You should try silently laughing 'ha ha ha' - laughing naturally retracts the muscles in your larynx that cause constriction. Try it, shut your eyes and see if you can really isolate those muscles. Then practice retracting them without the laugh!
Nice work guys! I would like to know if there is any app or software that I can use to split song into different parts at least soprano, alto, tenor because most times I found it difficult to break recorded song into their different parts, any response will be greatly appreciated.

loool that was the first thing i noticed!

Again...thanks so much. Pacing and presentation feels so inviting and supportive. A great tool in my classroom.

Great video
Yay I'm subscribed! That was fun!!
I love these videos! But once it is all three of us singing I tend to go sharp - any suggestions how to fix it?
Try really honing into the piano. When harmonising initially you have to try to ignore the other voices.
Really helpful
