Ref Rizzo in the 5th inning. I've been told that he throws to covering pitcher more than any other first baseman. It's just the way he plays. Cole forgot that Rizzo assumed Cole would cover.
His momentum took him further in the hole and I guess he wasn't comfortable making the throw to 1B...? In my opinion, you're up 5 so just get a routine out. Cole was gassed and I don't think he would have beaten Mookie to the bag. I've heard several Yankees fans explain that Rizzo never really takes it himself anymore. Judge took his eyes off the ball...that should never happen.
Bad defense... If you look at play that Hernandez tires game... Where was Cole at? On the mound as a cut off instead of backing up catcher in possible play at home... Awful
