- This is my attempt at a tutorial on how to modify the airbox of your Kawasaki Vulcan VN800, also known as "Scooterizing." This video only covers the modification of the airbox and filter cover. It does not cover any carburetor tuning, epa/emissions bypass, etc.
I got all the instructions on how to "Scooterize" the airbox from the Russian Wolf website, however the PDF is from mid 2005 and a lot of the pictures are a small resolution and it's difficult to see the details of what needs to be removed. Honestly, it's pretty straight forward, but if you're anything like me, you want to know exactly what you're doing before you start hacking into your motorcycle. So hopefully this video is helpful.
The Russian Wolf PDF guide can be found here:

As an FYI to anyone watching this, I got this on the bike and I've tried it out with the stock 48 pilot jet, and a 170 main jet. Pilot screw about 3 turns out. I used the dynojet dno106 needle, drilled slide hole to 1/8". So far the bike runs well.
just a idea you can weld the platic there are a bunch of videos on you tube thats how i found out about it and it works great for stuff like this.its mellting the platic like your welding and if you do it right its very strong
this is awesome !!! thanks so much
Hi, can you please tell me after the scooterize the filter air box do the motorcycle sound louder. I ask this question is because of the motorcycle regulation here in Europe .
May I ask where you were able to get the airbox. I am in need of one, but can't find one. Thanks
I don't see that filter online. Do you know if it's been discontinued?
Great video, thanks for posting! I'll be doing this also. Which K&N filter did you buy to fill the whole housing? The one for stock airbox use has a smaller diameter.
K&N P/N: E-1015
Dr. Katz Apparently rides a Vulcan. Who would have thought.
What benefits came from this? More mid range torque? Better fuel mileage? The video did not discuss the value of doing this. Is rain a problem?
This would be the same as repalcing a stock air filter with a cone or velocity stack, it's for more power and looks
what is the filter that you use, and is this working if we don't touche the jet, needle or pilot screw. if i did every thing do i get a little bit more power.
The filter is a K&N E-1015. The jets must be replaced, and the pilot screw adjusted. The sizes you need may vary, so do some digging and get several different sizes of each type of jet. I believe it is highly recommended to replace the needle, but not totally necessary. Apparently fuel consumption is through the roof with the stock needle. You will also need to de-baffle your exhaust if it is stock.
I only put a few hundred kilometers on the bike after doing the mod, but there is a noticeable difference in power.
I plan on rebuilding/cleaning the carb this spring, so I may make another video showing how to do that.
LeadAcidQuackery thank you for your answer. I think î'll buy a dyno jet kit for the carb
You may be able to get a saw blade or cutting implement for your JobMate that will get things done quicker for less than the cost of the beer you drank making this.
Yeah there probably is, but I only had metal cutting discs which I've found just spray melted plastic everywhere. If I ever have to do this again I will probably try to find such a blade. Thanks for watching!
What size k@n filter is that. Or the part num for it.
I just checked the Russian Wolf PDF, and it says it is a K&N KA-8095.
I read the wrong PDF, it is actually a K&N E-1015 filter.
Can u do mine for me
