Good to see you are having fun with the bike! Thats what it's all about.
Take Care.
Great Job very well explained I did mine thought the sound was bit loud and sloppy...so this is what I did I replaced the baffles removed with 3 in x8 long the type baffles with the dense packing ...cut the packing in half in 4 in length and install comes with screws sounds awesome real nice bark
did you have a picture of that? Thank you.
WOW! There sure are a lot of haters and liberals out there with their air pollution, noise pollution and oh yeah " climate change". Thank you for the very informative video! YOUR BIKE SOUNDS GREAT!!!!
Sounds great Dony! Don't listen to the haters, that bike wont be that loud until you crack that throttle when you want to!
yes lol, it's unreal how many trolls are on the internet, youtube audience sure has changed since I started 11 years ago
Sounds good. The Vulcan looks great
Nice video Don. Have fun riding.
Beautiful work
Hi Don thanks for the video. I was recently looking at the wet bowl fuel level specs for this 800 Vulcan and to my surprise it specified 2mm ABOVE the float bowl mating surface. Does this not strike as being odd based on your carburetor know-how? Could this be a misprint or accurate?
Nice seeing the Milwaukee drill in action. I find myself reaching more for the M12 brushless fuel drills and drivers quite a bit more these days, lots of power. Perhaps even more power than the bike.
Do u think it would be possible to ad a smaller baffle in there after removal of the original baffles? Just to quiet it some more so it won't be as loud as straight pipes but to sound better than originals?
Sounds great!
Nice video! Did you measured the noise in DB?
So I took the baffles out as well on my 800 if ya look into the exhaust there are the flame arrests 6-8” in I’m assuming that’s where the baffles mate up to the arrests. Anybody have experience removing the flame arresters positive or negative sound wise?
Sounds good, I have a 2007 Yamaha Royal Star tour deluxe and I have aftermarket pipes. I bought the bike used and it has BUBS brand pipes on it. A nice throaty sound that lets people know you're there. My next door neighbor hates my azz now! LOL!
always good, Dony ...
These Vulcan 800's are very good and reliable bikes. I've never seen one break down. Sounds nice Don!
Sounds great
Actually sounds good 👍
These Vulcan 800s sound great and look hot I remember some years back I was looking at a Kawasaki Vulcan 800 with drag pipes and a 1200 Harley both nice bikes I ended up buying the Harley and still wish I had bought the Kawasaki Vulcan 800 instead but such is life nice job on the stock pipes loud pipes save lives if they cant see ya then they will fuking hear ya!!.
Will the pipes off a 2002 kawasaki Vulcan 800 fit a 2006 kawasaki Vulcan 900
Sounds damn good!!
Hi, Don
I have a brigs and Stratton engine on Toro mower. I followed your instructions on checking the carb. Everything was clean. Looking at the spark plug. It's 4 years old, cleaned it with some steel wool. Hope that was okay. I checked the spark plug by dimming the lights like you show in your video. There is a spark! Does it matter how big the spark is? Mine sparks, but looks a little weaker than the sparks on your plugs. I did grounded it to the engine.
YOU COULD TRY A NEW PLUG, HOWEVER THE SPARK ISN'T THAT STRONG ON THOSE MOWERS
Thank you
What jets did you choose after removing the baffels? I have this bike as well was thinking about trying it
I got a jet kit that has three stages and only use the first stage up from stock. I have Vance and Hines straight pipes but has baffles. Think it'll be good with just the second set
I'm running gutted pipes with a hypercharger. Sounds awesome. 01 vn 800a 30kmiles
Big difference. Does it reduce the H-P ANY? I’ve a Yamaha royal star and it’s quiet
opichocal can't speak to the 800 but the debaffle on my 900 did nothing for power that would be noticeable. It certainly didn't lower horsepower. The dyno showed a slight increase. I mean slight.
no reduction in HP, maybe once re-jetted there could be a slight increase
Thanks for the video is that the exact same 800 engine that's on the Vulcan Drifter
Yes. The drifter, the classic, and the custom 800's have the same engine
Great video! I'm a little wary of DE baffling completely, do you think drilling one or more 1/2" holes through the outer plate and baffle would improve sound at all?
I did that on this exact bike... it didnt help very much, if at all
I did remove the cap completely and you can tell a difference, but not very much
I did what you done on my bike very happy with it sounds lot better plus saved me a lot of money getting new pipes
There were no after-market pipes yet when I bought my 1996 VN800A back in the day, and I was never happy with the way the stock pipes looked. They sounded ok-ish to me (just), but those weird black discs with the tiny real exhaust pipe sticking out always looked goofy to me. Plus the way the pipes are turned out, that visual detail is really noticeable, even at a glance. Never understood why they designed it that way.
Also: Now that I see how the pipe is constructed and how the baffles sit in there, I'm pretty sure my Kawa-dealer was bull$hitting me when I bought the bike. They sold a customized version of the bike with different seat, handle-bars and quite a bit of other details changed to make it look less grandpa-like, so they did do work on the bike before I ever took possession. So I asked them if they could also swap out the pipes while they were at it, but, as mentioned, there were no custom-pipes available for the bike at the time. But the guy told me that they had done "something" to the exhaust to make it sound a bit less muffled. And I don't really see how they could have done that, given the work necessary to even get to the baffles and how you seem to have to destroy the baffles anyway to free them from the pipes. Oh well... I tried to convince myself that the bike sounded a bit different than a stock one, but I suppose that was just me feeding myself a placebo... :D
Sounds pretty nice.
How do I get my shift linkage off of my Vulcan 800
Can you be so kind and name the kind and brand of the tools you were using ?
Hey fella, I can't find my ferrit! Can you look see if he went up ya pipe? Seriously though, nice job.
How do you check your radiator fluid how do you know when it is empty or when it is low can you tell me that can you show me where it is please
Our radiator cap is under the fuel tank. You take off the gauge cluster and the tank and the radiator cap is there. A bit of a pain to get to but that's the only way i know off to check and add fluid
Great job, donyboy73! You finally gave it some revs.
Thanks for the perfect tutorial! I have one question: after the complete modification, the bike has lost torque (even little)?
not really but the ride isn't as smooth
@@donyboy73 very thanks.
@@donyboy73 On a scale from 1 to 10 (1 is stock pipes and 10 is completely open exhausts), what's the loudness with the debaffling?
@William thanks for the useful advices!
What size jets should be used when rejetted
That sounds awesome. I was thinking of doing that to my KZ550. But I am unsure if it would require messing with the jets in the carb or not. To all those out there who hate loud bikes. Start noticing motorcyclists when you are driving in your cars. Stop pulling out in front of us like we're not even there. loud pipes is another tactic we motorcyclists use to be noticed by cars.
Wow ! Sounds way better and i think the bike revs up better !
Check your valves. I have 3 vn800's. Excellent mc
wouldn't that affect the HP, i.e. not allowing as much back pressure ?
no difference
Does this also work on the EN500?
Wondering the same
Nice throaty sound after you took the baffles out. Just hope you can find time to ride it! Be safe out there.
Nice
Dony
Awesome advice and video! I'm getting a bike soon in the 650-750cc range.
sounds really good, nice bike
Without the baffles, will the exhaust pass inspection when you go to get the motorcycle licensed?
Have done an EPA bypass
thanks don ... just glad to see another rider .. oh and i like my drag pipes hehe .. †
nice bike
THANKS LIAM, how are you doing?
donyboy73 not so bad don
Are there any long term effects on the engine now that youve altered the back pressure ?? 👋
doesn't seem to be
No. Not a problem with my vn 900 . 51000 km.
No. Please look up videos from Jason at "Engineering Explained" before repeating "backpressure".
Is there anyway to contact you and ask a question about this bike?
what were you wondering?
wooow this is crazy i just bought a vulcan 500, would have never guessed you would post this!
I simply put Vance and Hines pipes on mine
Loud pipes save lives! I'd rather be loud as hell and be heard than quiet and crippled/dead.
DUDE YOU'VE GOT TO RIDE IT TO GET THE REAL SOUND!!
Kawasaki let the good times roll...
Good job Dony, but using compressed air to blow metal shavings around is a risky way to clean the pipes. There is always a possibility that a random shaving can go into an open exhaust port.
thriaty sound--nice!
Sounds great. Still have her?
sold it but was a great bike
@@donyboy73 😥😭
I've been thinking about removing the baffles from my Shadow 1100 Cobra slash cuts. I think it'll sound great.
Looks and sounds similar to a 2000 Honda Shadow ACE I had some years ago...
Do you have to re jet the carbs after this or can you get away with leaving it?
it's better if you re-jet but not totally necessary
Do I loose a lot of power? I’m doing it today.
@@billyb.9492 I DIDN'T
Pipes only doesn't require rejetting. On all Vulcans, the restriction is on the intake to the airbox or plenum. Most people rejet too large as well.
I bought Vance and Hines 4into1 for my Suzuki 1000 and the chrome chipped off in about 2 weeks, they refused to warranty them, so I will never buy Vance and Hines anything ever. I've been.riding 52 years and hopefully got.another 20 left. V&h will not be on any future bike of mine or my kids or grandkids.
they should have warrantied that for you
donyboy73 I hope they do better if you have problems. Thanks for the video
Now you are illegal in Quebec, I don't know for Ontario.
still legal here in ontario
The new law in Quebec is 100db while running and 92db at idle. 300$ fine if you're louder ...
still noisy too
Not true, out of province visitors are exempt from all provincial vehicle laws, so very legal if he keeps his Ontario plates on the bike while visiting Quebec.
I know. I meant if he lived in Quebec.
Nice..
I don't get it.... people make their bikes and trucks and cars noisier, but their generator can't be quiet enough? dawwwwww......
You know theirs another piece in the pimp after u remove that .
and what does the cops say about what you did
"Donor cycles" full of rude drivers. !
If you want a Harley Davidson sound you should buy one. But it does sound bad ass!! Nice video!!
Is this not a MOT Fail!!! ???
Attaboy..
But it sure beats listening to your nonsense. Stats don't count the times a driver failed to hit a bike. Merry Christmas none the less. Oh, hold yer ears. Lol
sounds way better
Y'all want me to call the WHAMBULANCE. Pathetic at best. Smh
Should have removed the muffler and worked on a bench ...it's not good idea doing this on the bike. You'll also need to reject the carb .
Sounds like a Harley.... Here's a tip.....
Don't wreck it.......
Why do motorcycles get a pass for noise pollution? I do not want to hear that crap...not from a truck, not from a car, not from a motorcycle.
its for asshole people that don't use there mirrors. if they cant here you then there is a good chance you end up dead
if you think making your bike loud so someone in a car with the windows up, air conditioner on, and the radio on will hear you coming is wishful thinking.
jdretiree If you truly can't hear the loud motorcycle in your car with the Window up A/C and radio on what is your gripe about another loud motorcycle contributing to noise pollution?
I live in a suburban area in Waterloo Iowa on a fairly busy street. Who wants to sit outside in the summertime and listen to motorcycles with no mufflers riding by. I used to ride Goldwings and saw my share of close calls with loud and not so loud bikes being cut off by cars. Having a loud bike is just an excuse to make everyone else's life around it miserable.
jdretiree I agree that loud pipes don't guarantee you won't be cut off by cars. Some of that is the riders fault like making assumption that he was seen or bad lane placement. I also think you can have a loud bike without being obnoxious with it. There is no need to be rodding on it through town, the rumble at a moderate rpm should be sufficient enough to help you get noticed by cars. Rather than being more like a Prius that you can't hear at all.
I had to unsubscribe and thumbs down. Another loud motorcycle adding to noise pollution.
Wow that made me laugh lol pussy
why even comment lol you look like a fool
Want a Tip. Put the baffles back in. It gives motorcycles a bad name and is totally disrespectful to other people.
Why do this ??? To make MORE noise....stupid.
