How to Scooterize a VN800 airbox
This is my attempt at a tutorial on how to modify the airbox of your Kawasaki Vulcan VN800, also known as "Scooterizing." This video only covers the modification of the airbox and filter cover. It does not cover any carburetor tuning, epa/emissions bypass, etc.
I got all the instructions on how to "Scooterize" the airbox from the Russian Wolf website, however the PDF is from mid 2005 and a lot of the pictures are a small resolution and it's difficult to see the details of what needs to be removed. Honestly, it's pretty straight forward, but if you're anything like me, you want to know exactly what you're doing before you start hacking into your motorcycle. So hopefully this video is helpfu...

75+ year old B&D Drill teardown/cleaning
Просмотров 52 тыс.8 лет назад
This is a video I made showing the teardown and cleaning of a Black and Decker drill that is 75-90 years old. This was recorded with a Samsung tablet, so please forgive the potato quality. I don't expect to win any Oscars for this, I just figured some people may find it interesting.

    What benefits came from this? More mid range torque? Better fuel mileage? The video did not discuss the value of doing this. Is rain a problem?

      This would be the same as repalcing a stock air filter with a cone or velocity stack, it's for more power and looks

    If I can get parts for a power tool this old, restoring it would be great ! I have a B & D electric drill, 7190, Type 1, which is squealing when I use it, and I was looking on info on how to service & restore it. Modern drills are OK, but love the old stuff with metal housings.

    Great video, thanks for posting! I'll be doing this also. Which K&N filter did you buy to fill the whole housing? The one for stock airbox use has a smaller diameter.

      I read the wrong PDF, it is actually a K&N E-1015 filter.

    That's a real vintage tool, would have like to see if it still ran, I didn't know Black and Decker were even in existence that long ago!

    My oldest working power tool is a Black & Decker circular saw made in the late 1940s. It is a planetary gear saw (the basis of most modern circular saws) with a 1500-watt motor. It has an all-magnesium body and weighs not much more than a well-made modern saw with a nylon motor housing. It does, however, use 6-1/2" blades rather than 7-1/4" ones.

    what is the filter that you use, and is this working if we don't touche the jet, needle or pilot screw. if i did every thing do i get a little bit more power.

    • @leadacidquackery9944
      @leadacidquackery9944 7 лет назад

      The filter is a K&N E-1015. The jets must be replaced, and the pilot screw adjusted. The sizes you need may vary, so do some digging and get several different sizes of each type of jet. I believe it is highly recommended to replace the needle, but not totally necessary. Apparently fuel consumption is through the roof with the stock needle. You will also need to de-baffle your exhaust if it is stock. I only put a few hundred kilometers on the bike after doing the mod, but there is a noticeable difference in power. I plan on rebuilding/cleaning the carb this spring, so I may make another video showing how to do that.

      LeadAcidQuackery thank you for your answer. I think î'll buy a dyno jet kit for the carb

    You may be able to get a saw blade or cutting implement for your JobMate that will get things done quicker for less than the cost of the beer you drank making this.

    • @leadacidquackery9944
      @leadacidquackery9944 7 лет назад

      Yeah there probably is, but I only had metal cutting discs which I've found just spray melted plastic everywhere. If I ever have to do this again I will probably try to find such a blade. Thanks for watching!

  • @leadacidquackery9944
    @leadacidquackery9944 8 лет назад

    As an FYI to anyone watching this, I got this on the bike and I've tried it out with the stock 48 pilot jet, and a 170 main jet. Pilot screw about 3 turns out. I used the dynojet dno106 needle, drilled slide hole to 1/8". So far the bike runs well.

    • @douro20
      @douro20 7 лет назад

      Keyless chucks did exist back then but they were only found on imported tools. They were invented in Germany in 1908. The electric hand drill was also invented in Germany, by Carl and Wilhelm Fein in 1895, twenty-one years before Black & Decker developed theirs.
