The original is my ringtone. It works well; never miss a call. Saw Sweet back when I was in high school, around 1975 or 76. Always loved this song. These girls do a great job for a live version. It's a good introduction to their band. The drummer and lead guitarist are awesome. The front girl also has the voice of a real rock star.
So nice to see/hear a young group who both love the song and deliver it so well, I speak as an 50+British man who both remember the song and want to see The Sweet!!
I was just 14 years old when the original song was a hit, and to me this one is a damn good version! It has a real '70's sound but with a modern twist to it - love it!
Wild! I just heard them on the radio on the drive home from work and remembered them immediately from this cover and came searching! Great band. Nice to see them getting exposure!
You guys kick a$$!! I love this song and you guys represent well! I love to see the younger generation take older songs and take on their version. Great job!!
Agree. I generally hate Sweet covers. Pat Benatar’s “No You Don’t” was decent but I pretty much can’t stand any others I’ve heard. This is the first Sweet cover I’ve heard where the band turned it into one of their songs, made it their own. It’s makes a great garage pop/post punk tune
Surprised by all the negative comments. I wonder if those people had ever heard the original. Anyway, this is a charming cover and holds its own compared to the original.
This is fun, but not surprised by the negative comments. Some people will hate on anything that isn't the original. Some will hate because it is being done by a band with some female members. Some will hate because they seek to attack Lydia for some comments she made about her interactions with someone. Some will hate the style of music in general, and some will genuinely dislike this performance because they dislike it. Some will hate it because they happened to hear it when they were in the midst of a bad day. Everyone has their own opinion, but to anyone attacking this, there is much much much much much much worse stuff out there, some of which is a lot more popular, this is competent and inoffensive, and if it wasn't perfect, I mean, the singer was like 16 at the time, there is plenty of time for improvement....but hey, if it makes people feel better about themselves to hate on this, let them

Love Fox on the Run. Like the hard rock version. I agree with Gus Jackson; Wail it! Maybe add a couple of more voices to the chorus. Great Job and super awesome to see some girls singing it their way!
The people at AV Club, where this was originally posted, came up with that title. From listening to it, it sounds like those amps are up really loud, you can kind of feel the energy in that room. If the person who came up with that caption was in that room for the performance, I can get where he or she was coming from. Plus they had 24 bands doing covers in 24 days. That’s a lot of headlines. Might have just been throwing shit against the wall at some point lol

Thanks for proving my point about the music. Though I have to admit that Sultans of Swing is one of my favorite songs ever. I guess 70s sucked for me in general, because junior high, high school, and undergrad tend to suck for a lot of us in general. I think LPs sold best in the 70s. In the 60s we were just getting into them, and by the 90s we were into CDs and Napster. 80s had all those corny videos, not LPs so much, and CDs were starting.

I like what the Regrettes do, but this is in no way better than Sweet. To me, it desperately needs that great synthesizer riff. But, to each their own as I always say. To their credit, this band has done pretty damn well, in a very competitive music market
I actually think it does kick ass in a raw Indy rock way. It’s not as polished and pop sounding as the original. I also noticed that it sounds like it’s really loud in that room, amps on eleven. I’m a HUGE Sweet fan. This is the first cover I’ve ever liked of one of their songs.

I heard this song yesterday. It was my first time hearing the band and the song. It's my new personal anthem. Thanks The Regrettes.
I was 15 when the original came out, I liked this cover, it was a pop song then and it is a pop song now
That little laugh after Lidia says thank you, makes me smile every time.

Great cover version of this song, The Regrettes Rock. I can't get enough of their version.

This is a live take and it's good. Missed nothing and achieved what they set out to do. Should not be compared to the original studio recording.
This might just the best cover ever. That said from an oldtimer to whom made out with his first girl to the original song.

Nothing wrong with this version. Everyone started somewhere. Where are they now?
Drums are so good. It's like he's drumming through the drums. Haven't heard such heavy drumming since Dave Friggin' Grohl!

Ok, you don't understand what"ferocious" means but, thanks for introducing me to The Regrettes!
Yes, I like the band, like their version of the song, but ferocious?....Um. Yes. Ferocious like Tony the Tiger.

Overpriced pop dribble? The fact that you even say that makes me believe that you have no idea what pop even is.
