Check for oil leaks, ensure the clutch and supercharger have been maintained. Supercharger service needed at 100k and clutches tricky to replace. Inspect the suspension and brakes for wear. Power steering can sometimes be noisy. Additionally, verify all the electrics work correctly and consider the condition in relation to the mileage. Look for a bunch of maintenance receipts.
Not had any problems with the one we had but we didn't have it for long. They do come with their fair share of issues though so regular specialist or BMW maintenance is essential I would say. As with any car really. Thanks for taking the time to comment...

r56 clubman copper s turbo with the 14 engine problems of thermostat leaking water pump problems oil cooler gasket leaks oil main feed pipe to turbo leeks send the timing chain thay call it the death rattle major carbon build up on head due to direct injection . 2011 r56 with the n18 engine is much more refined ironed out lot of the problems .

I had a 2008 model in grey with full pipped Leather interior, panoramic sun roof, flappy paddle gear shift, electric everything, absolutely fully loaded and an absolutely gorgeous car to look at and drive, just awesome BUT and its a huge BUT, the car was hideously UNRELIABLE and expensive to fix. BMW were sued in America because of the mini Cooper s and had to offer their customers 10 years warranty!!! Really extremely poorly built and that's a shame as it drivers so well

yeh my bad..
It’s an R55. I have the version with the N18 engine. The R56 is basically the same mechanically but the regular Mini Cooper.
