  • IN THIS WEEKS VIDEO...
POURING A CONCRETE SLAB IN WINTER..CONSERVATORY TO EXTENSION PT 5 WE ARE BATTLING RAIN AND FROST AS ITS THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER.
FIRST JOB IS TO LOAD OUT 800 BRICKS WHICH WE COVER UP WITH OUR BRICK JACKETS.
THE HARDCORE AND SAND BLINDING ARE ALREADY DONE SO WE JUST NEED TO INSTALL THE COLD BRIDGING STRIP WHICH IS 25 MM JABLITE POLYSTYRENE. NEXT THE 1ST DPM WHICH PROTECTS THE INSULATION WHICH GOES DOWN NEXT. THIS IS 100 MM FOIL BACKED PIR IN 2.4 X 1.2 M SHEETS. NEXT THE TOP LAYER OF DPM GOES DOWN.
NEXT WE GET A VISIT FROM BUILDING CONTROL WHO GIVES US THE GO AHEAD TO POUR THE SLAB.
THE CONCRETE COMPANY LADS TURN UP EARLY AND BARROW THE CONCRETE IN FOR US.
FINALLY WE GET THE CONCRETE TAMPED AND FLOATED.

Work of art on that slab - unrecognisable from the nightmare you were presented with at the start! You two guys are really working so well together, great to see Dad and Son grafting away. Thank you for filming/editing/uploads - they make a great watch!

Ive just realised that i hadn't seen you using the fitted brick covers recently.
Ideal at this time of year.

A little tip for you,cut a length of plastic dpc long enough to go wall to wall pull it tight vertically across the wet concrete and you will be able to swim the water off the wet concrete.

Good video lads, I realy look forward to watching you two.
Despite the weather gods you nailed it that slab looks great I don't know why the building inspector can't just look at your videos it would save him a visit!!
Once again Alex " The bulldozer " shifted all that sand, and showed whose boss.
    Best regards as ever Ken

Always a dodgy time to pour, weather permitting. I’ve had a few ‘re lays’ after plunging overnight temperatures, even with full protection of the slab. Heartbreaking. Feeling for you chaps.

@@SteveAndAlexBuild I definitely agree S&A. Been dropping lintels in at home, finally sorted the last one, out of six, wrapped up and pinned with bubble wrap and old towels. Should be good to go after a few more days.

Great video as always. Shame there's always a wannabe BBC watchdog that feels the need to criticise the content you go to the trouble of making, editing and posting. I have to say though I was gutted when Al left the fatty bits from his bacon. I,d have swiped that if I'd been on the job 😋😎.
