Hey Longhand this will show as my wife's name Jeannie. But I'm Kirk Torrence....I was in Delta Battery 86-89. I played flag football, and hoops to! I miss the city house in Mainz. I loved Wackernheim.....miss it a lot!
Part 2... On the left, 1st building was Charlie Battery, then last My unit, Bravo Battery... place looks deserted... sad to see it like that! Couldnt wait to leave there, went to Ft Ord CA, hated it! Wanted to go back to Germany.... had it made there and didnt know it! Thank you so very much! Was able to show my wife a bit of my past! Thank you again! I lived in Ingleheim, frequented the Strange Machine and the Funsel!
Oh, and by the way, Thanks for posting the video. I remember pulling guard at BLASA about once a year. Hated that place. Wackernheim Hof was a great place to eat. Remember doing a lot of Volks March's, going to the Zugs Spitz for skiing, Hidleburg Castle with Jim Knoll and Denny and his wife, local beer fest. Finthen AirField for car races. Anyone remember JJ or Jan who who worked at the Rec Center?
Was there from '80-84...B Battery 1/59, 3rd platoon, The end by what He calls the back gate, when He 1st pulls up, was the only gate when I was there, everything on that end still looks like it did 30 years ago, mess hall, HQ building then A-G Battery buildings are still there, the Dispensary is still there too, miss the place, sad to see it deserted like that
I was stationed here in the early 70's with the 51st MP detachment. Our barracks was in the back corner of the post. It was a long narrow one story building with a walled in courtyard and a lard rock BBQ pit. We provided access security to NATO Site 31.
Hey Sarge..Spec. Sam Bolls Sarge. Livingston squad, you had Redwine andDamn cant think of his buddies name, than there was boyer and england barrick reggie west man what a great bunch of guys oh yea and Joe messina.
Hi Sam, I remeber you well. Great to hear from you. I hope you're doing well. Redwines buddy was Styrone. Heatherly, Sperling and Wellington were also in my squad. Those were the good old days.
I was in 28th Ord Co from Aug 68 to July 70. Was in Tech Support Platoon. My platoon commander was Lt. Edward T. Card. Great officer. Lived off post in Ingelheim. Made that drive up the hill from Ingelheim every day. Really enjoyed Germany. Miss the Jagerschnitzel. Finished up at 50th Ord Co at Ft Carson. Got out in Jan 71. Wife worked at Lee Barracks, Red Cross Off from April 69 to May 70. There are a lot of new buildings on post and in Wackerheim. Love goulasch soup at the HOF
3rd platoon Bravo Battery 1/4 ADA 2002-2004 . Great memories. Hit a alot of good German snatch in those Bs. RIP Marcus Hodges and Courtney Hollingsworth🌹🌹 🗣By Daring Deeds
You got that right....many....many a stumblin night coming in the "back gate" which was the only gate when I was there, well the back gate was there but we only used it when we had alerts or were going out to the field, Strange Machine, the Funsel, Hard Rock Cafe in Mainz... the Hoff there in Wackernheim.... good times.... good times!
When I was there I was in the ADA unit, there was also an MP unit there. It wasn't a bad place, I remember running to the Army Airfield and back in the mornings. Good times.
I was stationed there from 1987 to 1989. The white building a about 3:40, I believe was the gym. We had a basketball court and a racquetball court. The building after that was the barracks I lived in for 2+ years. I was on this side of the road. We had some great BBQ's out on the small patch of grass. Then Next part of the building was the E 708th spt BN. Office. I used to hit golf balls from there to the wash rack. We played broom hockey on the ice of the retention pond in the winter. LOVED it
osia1230, you and I were there at the same time. I remember crazy Murphy, Jeff Eldridge. I left McCully in Oct of 79. I have a lot of photo's of all these guys parting in the room.
Nice film. I was not stationed here back in the day. My contribution is that McCully is being re-occupied. The OPMAS-E Program is now based here and it seems like every month or 2 there is something new being brought out here. The Washrack is still here. In the Video at the 6:00 min mark, you see a small red building in front of a taller barracks style building. The barracks style building has been removed (torn down).
I worked at the 32nd. ADA D.S.P. between 1975-1977 as the Operations Manager & Security Officer. O.J.T. straight out of that bombed out service station building in the middle of the base called a generator shop. Taking Sgt.Moore's position when he took over as Platoon Sargent. I was an E2 at 17 years old with Acting Jack E5 Sgt. stripes. Don't miss it at all. Just the people I worked with Sfgt.Dalton, Spec5 Meyers, and many others. I told you guy's I wasn't coming back when I went on emergency leave.
Wow dude! What a blast from the past! I was stationed there from '80-'84! Bravo Battery 1-59, Vulcan crew Senior Gunner and driver. When you come up to what you call the back gate, I new it as the front gate, directly to the right was the Mess Hall, up the street on the right side after the Mess Hall was HQ Building, I was in the last room on the 1st floor, BBttry 3rd platoon, next on the right was Delta Battery, then Alpha Battery, across the street on the left in the 1st building was Charlie
I was there from 82 to 83. I was a cook. Lived in barracks right behind meds hall. One roomie of mine was Mark sowers. Played guitar at the club alot. I remember one night, that me and a buddy tied sheets together to pull my girlfriend up to the sec and floor and some guys helped by pushing her up from the day room. CQ did come up and had us leave though. Some good as well as bad memories. I got the wachenheim blues.
I was stationed at Wackernheim in the early 80's. I was with the Nike battery there A 2/1. It was alright. Used to catch the bus to go to Mainz on Saturdays. The unit was three quarters surrounded by cherry trees. Went to Ingelheim to attend the Rot Wein Fest. Good Place.
I got to the wack in 80,I was a cook with HHB 2/1. Remember walking up to A Btry's Barracks to the small chow hall. And taking chow down range to all the MPS and other guys pulling duty. I got sent to Lee Barracks when 2/1 shut down to the 228th Mech. Bloodybill do you remember a guy his last name was Payne he lived on the second floor in A brtys barracks.
Nice vid - too bad you couldn't get on post. I was in the back corner, in the MZAD MP barracks, in front of the 218MP DET - they called it MP corner, since there were about 100 of us combined. CPT Minnie 1SG Randall from 88-90. Still remember my idiot roomate blowing off two rounds from his .45 in the clearing barrel, and waking the whole post. He deserved his 45 days of Art15, plus the 30 days supplemental. Went back in 93, and even the old HAWK\NATO 51 site was demolished. Darned shame - miss those guard towers and all my rabbit friends.... :)
I was there from 77 79 in delta 1st herd we had a 2 man room on 1 st floor where we could look into the mp barracks I think,, womens rooms across the street man some of them girls were dumb windows open wind blowing,,who needed a Frankfurt live show we had it right there rofl
If anyone was stationed there between 98-2001, hit me up. I was in Bravo Battery 1-4 ADA 1st plattoon.....good ol times....I lost contact with everyone there after I left...
Great video - I was in HHB 2nd and 1st ADA - did a little bit of guard duty in the "guard shack" as we called it - raising the flag every morning and playing revellie in the morning and taps at night - good to see the old nco club and the hof in town - (many a schnitzel in that place with wine spritzers) - thanks again for a great video - I was there in 1973 - 1974 so the music was relevant to me.

If you do a google earth on wackerhiem , it sad, all the TRACKs on line are GONE waste land , you'd think you could have talked to the base commander and ask just to let you be escorted on post to photo graph, for prosperity , for people who lived there could have the good memory flashbacks, after I got out I went to work for AFFES at food city in Wiesbaden , then delivering furniture, sweet job had military ID grew my hair long and went back to say Hello to Capt Casella, i tpyedo my last post, EVERYONE CALLED ME SIX SIX , NICKNAME BECAUSE OF MY HEIGHT. hey maabee6, wow i was at the Wack from 92 to 95. A 5/3 ADA. This brings back so many good memories. when they renovated the messhall, going to mainz and sneaking on the u-bahn to frankfurt and not paying and getting caught and paying the 60 mark fine. having guard duty at the front gate and waiting til hollis was gone and bringing a sega into the guard shack, or going to the pondus across the street for a gyros. ive got lots of pics of heinerbrg, putlos, graf, ramstein, mlkv.. POST DE LTR
At 6:03 you show the 708 mess hall not the barracks. 708 also housed the dental detachment from Wiesbaden...on the 3rd floor. I was stationed in E co from 85-88 Besides missile repair teams, they also in 87 became heavy wheel mechanic repair also. They had over 300 personnel during the time of 1st SGT Snyder.
packing the trains for the trips to Todendorf for gunnery, Broke a leg in Hehenfels, during FTX, rained for three days then froze over night, woke up and jumped off track to go take a piss and snap there went ankle mud had turned to concrete. I remember we had an exercise something like 45 days in the field, we got back there was a carnival set up in the parade field, beer tents and all, massive drinking and the fights started. Ltc Smith ordered gates closed down to keep outside MP's out, UP's running around like Keystone Cops with their batons and white pistol belts and I saw one of the XO's from HHB puch a guy and someone yelled "The Officers are fighting Back. Or the fireworks being fired from the barracks against the "jerry's" in the apple Orchards outside the wire behind Alpha and Bravo
I was in headquarters platoon, A Battery, 1/59th ADA at Lee Barracks from 1971 to 1972. Bad morale, poor leadership, poor logistics. I was not a draftee. I wanted to serve my country. I wish I had gotten a different posting.
Hi, I remember Pittman, we used to repel off old castle walls on the Rhein...I forget his buddy's name but they were a team and great, great guys. D BTRY 1/59 77-80 (and hit the Strange Machine and Fritz's Jaegar Snitzels all the time!)
Ha, great video, brings back memories. Stationed 1/59 ADA A Bty HQ Platoon (52D) 87-89 (Genius 2-Yr Program:) ) I did pretty good being 1/2 German with blonde hair and took a German class on base. Really freaked out the girls when they asked my name, German first and last, asked where I was from, Hamburg (NY) with NY Driver license as proof, and spoke a little German as well. Winning!!! I remember everyone would go off-base to Funzels, which was down the road and to the left 5-6 miles. Kind of a hole in the wall. Then a buddy found Goodtime Charlies I think, which was another 4-5 miles past Funzels. GI's were non-existent down there when he found it, and for a while we were mobbed with women until someone let the cat out of the bag and it became well known enough that half the base seemed to start showing up.... Best/worst story was one time we went up North for live fire exercises for the Vulcan crews. Kiel I think? Either way, one of the Vulcan Sgt's invited me to come along and fire the Vulcan. I believe they also did live fire on "equipment and materials", which was an excuse for using the Vulcan on troops. You're not firing at them, your firing at their 'equipment/assets', like backpacks :). Either way, that morning after I got the invite, I headed to mess tent IIRC, and of course the 1st Sgt. sees me and grabs me for Guard Duty. Next thing I know, I'm out in the middle of nowhere in a guard shack. I'm there until lunchtime rolls around, and no one shows up with lunch, and I think my canteen was empty already. Sun rolls around, and its mid-afternoon. Some German Officer drives up, and I don't let him through. We try to communicate, however my German is schitt, and his English is non-existent. Not sure, but I think he ultimately turned around and left. So, sun rolls to the West, and I know its dinner time, still no one shows up. Gets dark, the moon comes out, the owls are hooting, and its getting a bit chilly... .... ...... ......... Finally, after several more hours of this, a jeep pulls up with my E5, Sgt. Gruball. I'm pissed as hell, and on the way back cuss out my 1st Sgt. He ends up taking me out somewhere, and I get a 'Rusty Nail' drink of some sort as compensation. Missed my chance to fire a real gun, damn. Friggin 1st Sgt. was a trip, carried a gold club with him. Best thing about McCully Barracks though was the Imbiss stand across the street from the entrance. Couple of Marks for brattwurst mit brotchen, and a bier.

+Mike Rees I believe I have a picture of Jan in "79.
+Michael Morris Can you post the pic. What unit were you with?
did jan have a volkswagon scorro or somethin like that>>?
I was stationed there from around 9/75-3/77 HHB 2/1 ADA Rolf's in Wackernheim had best food and many good times at Strange Machine in Ingelheim
Was there from '80-84...B Battery 1/59, 3rd platoon, The end by what He calls the back gate, when He 1st pulls up, was the only gate when I was there, everything on that end still looks like it did 30 years ago, mess hall, HQ building then A-G Battery buildings are still there, the Dispensary is still there too, miss the place, sad to see it deserted like that
Honorable Discharge! Miss you Guy's.
I was stationed here in the early 70's with the 51st MP detachment. Our barracks was in the back corner of the post. It was a long narrow one story building with a walled in courtyard and a lard rock BBQ pit. We provided access security to NATO Site 31.
we had NATO 20 when I was there from 71-72. Were on the 4th floor of the Medical Company
I was there from 73 to 76. We controlled access to the nuclear weapons bunkers down the road from Mc cully Barracks.
Hey Sarge..Spec. Sam Bolls Sarge. Livingston squad, you had Redwine andDamn cant think of his buddies name, than there was boyer and england barrick reggie west man what a great bunch of guys oh yea and Joe messina.

Nasty language
Yes I did..... loved that place... there from '80-84, B Bttry 1/59, 3rd platoon
You got that right....many....many a stumblin night coming in the "back gate" which was the only gate when I was there, well the back gate was there but we only used it when we had alerts or were going out to the field, Strange Machine, the Funsel, Hard Rock Cafe in Mainz... the Hoff there in Wackernheim.... good times.... good times!
Well done my friend. Thanks much I worked at the Nike Hercules site just a few klicks down the road .
When I was there I was in the ADA unit, there was also an MP unit there. It wasn't a bad place, I remember running to the Army Airfield and back in the mornings. Good times.
51st MP Detachment. I was in it in 71/72
I was stationed there from 1987 to 1989.
@jeanbutler2 ... Thanks... I also have footage of the Finten Airfield that I plan to put together and upload sometime.... keep an eye out!
Please post it. It was a better breakfast than wackernheom
I was also at dsp from 1975 to 1977. I remember you and we worked at the generator shop under Sgt Covey for a few months.
Hello Max , I remember you Do you remember Wayne Hoffman? You were a driver for ths DSP.
I was stationed there from Sept 1972 to Sept 1974. Worked at CDAC (Community Drug and Alcohol Assistance Center).
Good Place.
Wildflicken, Baumholder, Grafenvere, Treiere, The Fulda Gap! Been there Done that!
Wayne Dorman My brother was stationed at HHB 2/1 in 1980 -1982. (Steve) I was stationed in D 1/59 across the street.
Where did it get the name McCully barracks?
I was in D 5/3 ADA at McCully from '88-'91. This brings back some memories.

was there 1983 to 1984 i miss the place 2nd home to me 1/59 ada all the way.....
I was also with HHB 2nd Bn 1st ADA 1972-1974 worked on the hill radar site. 24/7 shirts.
@@yikes5790 Amgel I feel like i. may know you. I started out communications in the exclusion area. Then worked as special orders clerk. I got out in 1975.
@@pvalentine54 Our section chief was SSG Peterson. Who had been there way before I arrived from the states from AIT Ft. Belvior. Va.52B10 schooling. I was 18 at that time I enjoyed my time there in Germany I was born there my father was retired Army and was stationed at Stuttgart where he met my mother.
Cool video assigned to Stinger Plt C Btry 1/59 ADA Bn. 86 - 88 Place hasn't changed all that much. Good times

i was there in '85 our 1st sgt was pena. did you party at the funcel?
Too bittersweet; loved the post and the people, but hated the unit. Thanks for the video Dow.
I paint a Vulcan and warthog in the day room in alphas barrack, looked cool but Casella didn't like it because the A-10 was bigger than the VULCAN. Love live fire in CRETE 13 hour train ride, loading the track onto train, when I first got there NEWBOY and couple OLDTIMERS/ 2digit midgets went to Switzerland Italy and Austria in 5 days in a Opel record , Geoff Lee, Eden Showers, Trujillo, and James someone, a trip I will never forget!!! Best five days ever. Woul love to go back one day , but I think they have forgotten about US COLD WAR VETS.
ANYWAYS THANKS FOR THE DRIVE DOWN MEMORY LANE BRO.-----------6'6"
Or someone could sign you on....im out there often
hey maabee6, wow i was at the Wack from 92 to 95. POST DE LTR
Man.... you really should post your pics! I lost all of mine, and there were many, in a house fire 20 years ago, sucks!
At 6:03 you show the 708 mess hall not the barracks. 708 also housed the dental detachment from Wiesbaden...on the 3rd floor. I was stationed in E co from 85-88
Besides missile repair teams, they also in 87 became heavy wheel mechanic repair also. They had over 300 personnel during the time of 1st SGT Snyder.
when did they tear down the old MP barracks? I see its gone.
Bravo battery 1-59, 3RD PLATOON, '80-84 LOVED IT THERE
I still remember trying to go to Amer Express before the DM dropped on pay day.
I was there moons ago, 74-76, 1/59 ADA. I was under the impression McCully was still open??
packing the trains for the trips to Todendorf for gunnery, Broke a leg in Hehenfels, during FTX, rained for three days then froze over night, woke up and jumped off track to go take a piss and snap there went ankle mud had turned to concrete. Or the fireworks being fired from the barracks against the "jerry's" in the apple Orchards outside the wire behind Alpha and Bravo
bittersweet indeed!
I was in the 527th from 1982 to 1985- Lee Barracks bldg #6118- back gate with our own backyard!
very cool thanks alot , would have loved to see what the site looks like now wonder if i can google earth and get a look
Was there 1975 1st/59 ADA Volcan Cannon
I was in headquarters platoon, A Battery, 1/59th ADA at Lee Barracks from 1971 to 1972. Bad morale, poor leadership, poor logistics. I was not a draftee. I wanted to serve my country. I wish I had gotten a different posting.
3rd Herd, B Btry 1/59 76-78, HHB 78-79, Shouts out to Murphy, Dorese, Barnes, Eldridge, Pittman, Coleman and all.
Hi, I remember Pittman, we used to repel off old castle walls on the Rhein...I forget his buddy's name but they were a team and great, great guys. D BTRY 1/59 77-80 (and hit the Strange Machine and Fritz's Jaegar Snitzels all the time!)
it was where the vulcans were kept and the stinger units of the 1/59th ADA
HQ platoon, B 1-59, Aug 84 - Mar 86.
Recall some French troop visit there, and was down range at NIKE site to back up MP's....Local protests. Summer of 1982 , one day there.....RLTW
I was there when the frogs( French) came. We cooks had a soldier who was fluent in French so CSM let him go along as an interpreter.
I spent more nights than I care to remember at the guard shack at ruclips.net/video/a3_GsqHwEN4/видео.html in the early '90s when I was with 5/3 ADA.
+tundruu ...then you scanned my ID a couple of hundred times :)
wow The Wackenheimer Hof is still there huh, remember when the Polizei would have speed traps there, back then 10 marks for speeding
I was at McCully Barracks 1/59 ADA D-Battery from 86 to jun 88.
"If it flies it dies".. "1/59th ADA dealers in 20 mm death and destruction".... A battery 80-82
A 1/59 ADA 80-82
Memories YES WOW indeed
And "fight for my meals" I did.
2:50 Many nights were spent in that little 10'x8' shack.
We used to ride the floor buffer to see how many times youd go around, drunk as hell..... B BTRY 1/59 3rd Platoon.... '80-84, lived in Ingelheim
Yes, I lived in ingelheim until I left but I had to maintain the barracks room until I married
i was there in 8o to 82 it was a nike site then we deactivated it for the nike dont know what took over then , i thought a Hawk site but not sure
I was a Nike crewman 80 to 82. I probably have met you.
I remember that! B BATTERY 1/59 '80-84
Von der Musik bekommt man Kopfschmerzen das man das Video nicht fertig schauen will.
Then turn it off... lol
Thanks for your opinion...
i would call it the small arizona on germany. pretty sick huh. drive by on a night, will make you feel uncomfortable:D
Ha, great video, brings back memories.
Stationed 1/59 ADA A Bty HQ Platoon (52D) 87-89 (Genius 2-Yr Program:) )
I did pretty good being 1/2 German with blonde hair and took a German class on base.
Thats golf club.
Great job was sentenced to the Wack (Mccully Barrackks)1986-1989 Charlie Battery First Platoon Deleski's Criminals Good times Great People
