Thank you for visiting Cambodia. I hope someday the rules will change for filming at Angkor. We think it is inconvenient for a lot of people who genuinely want to help promoting this place but unable to. Nonetheless, you guys are such a sport!

I live 20 minutes from Angkor Wat and visit it often. What the guard was trying to tell you is that you are supposed to have permission from Apsara Authority to film it for content creation, commercial purposes. You got off easy. You have done a respectable job of presenting it accurately. That is not always the case. During Covid, I often had the entire place to myself.

Nice vlog guyss, the reason why they stopped you from telling about the history is to just prevent misleading information. The APSARA authority has always been very strict about content producing at Angkor Wat, you can get away from time to time with just filming with professional camera, but if it's a big size gear camera, you're out of luck. If you're telling about the history, well, you already know how it goes haha

    Oh man that is rough!
We just shot there a few months ago and I looked in advance about the drone as I suspected it wouldn't be allowed without a permit which is pretty standard for places like this. And a friend in Siem Reap warned me they don't allow 360 cameras, which I don't have.
But I was surprised to be stopped about my DJI Osmo 3, which they called a 180 camera which isn't really accurate but I was just shocked they were so up to date on camera. They do have a sign about this, but I didn't see it walking in at sunrise because well it was dark.
The security at Ta Promh was nice about it and said I could use a DSLR, which I thought was funny because it's actually more professional than the Osmo. But I just exchanged the Osmo for my Sony and continued.

Thank you for visit us. I am really upset to this rules as well since it is really crazy for us too. I hope that this rules willl be revise anytime soon. I really apologize for my Angkor area rules but we are just trying to prevent from commercial filming from local and foreigner without asking for authorization, and to prevent some vlogger from filming the temple saying it is belong to Thailand and say that our culture is belong to Thai only. Because we recently got vlogger filming for commercial TikTok video which put credit to Thailand and that why we are trying to prevent those scammers to ever come again.
I really hope you come again some day with many culture part you can filming to show the world about us. Thank you so much.

Directions are very much known to Hindus 1000s of years ago. Hindu scriptures detailed out the specifics of building temples, the rituals etc. Every Hindu temples follow specific rules based on nature and cosmos. For example the Padmanabha Swamy Temple of Kerala India is build in such a way that during Equinox the sun sets through the windows of the temple, it is recreated in Ankorwat temple but Padmanabha Swamy temple is older than Ankorwat and is still running continuously for 1000s of years. Its not massive complex but a small temple eith untouched spirituality. Foreigners are not allowed since the temple is only for Hindus hence not known to the world. Hindus in general dont like to make their temple a tourist attraction than a spiritual one hence there are 1000s of impressive temples in India insulated from outside world. While Hindus outside India dont share the same mentality thus places like Bali and Ankorwat is more focused on tourism and are much more tourist friendly country than India is.
