I watched the whole video and subscribed!! Awesome to see you bring this gem back to life, I can't wait to see you work on the '79 F100 you showed in the intro! Hopefully you get that running too!
Thank you so much for subscribing! I'm working on the '79 F100 now, I'll have a "Will it Run" video uploaded as soon as I'm done, stay tuned to the channel and I'll post it soon!
Same here. Want to see the 79 run. West Texas pride over here. Keep up the good work.
Thanks brother! Working on the '79 now, I'll have a video up soon!
Those old 300 6s have a unique “bark” to them. I could listen to one run all day.
Also genius, absolutely genius way to keep it running longer with the air cleaner 😂. Can’t wait to see more
My friend in high school had a 1976 F100 with this motor. He bought it with 250k on it and drove it all through high school, college and a couple years after that before it finally died. These motors were bulletproof.
That’s impressive, that thing probably had 350k on it when it was all said and done! Thanks for sharing!
Should fill the float bowel of carb and then start, it will run longer!
Reading on the ford-trucks forum and it seems a guy has a F130 and did a marti report on it and there was 50 of these made, they were Fleet ordered this way. "F130 - F150 special pickup truck 6050lbs gvw" from bill smith motors in Sanger, Ca.
This one has a 6150 GVWR, so 100 lbs heavier rated than the report you mentioned, so the plot thickens!
I have a F100 and I was going to do this conversion to 8 lug so I could run duallies I have from a F350 chassis but I ended up putting new bearings in the rear end (9") so that plan went bye lol
Sounds good! It has a nice battery box too! We have to work on cars with VA tags too! good luck!
Ain't that battery box cute? Someone had a fun time in shop class back in the day! 😂
I like the wooden battery box!
The old 6 cylinders are reliable tough engines but they burn just as much gas as a 302 with half the power. I’ve owned about a dozen of them over the last 40 years. I swapped every one of them to a 302 or 351W. I was much happier every time.
I understand the reasoning behind swapping them out, but I really like the 300 sixs so I keep them in there, they respond very very well to a Turbo and are super easy to work on. The 302s and 351s do well though!
I always called it a heavy half
Pro tip: Don't spray the air filter with starting fluid. If it backfires it'll burn like a torch.
Been there done that a few times, that's why I left the air cleaner loose. If it bursts into flames simply lift off the air cleaner by the inlet neck and toss it in the grass to do its thing. 🙂
@@RustBucketRescuewhy didn’t you just leave it off and feed the carb with starting fluid. I’ve never seen anyone do it the way you did in real life or RUclips.
@@Robrt32 Starting fluid is highly volatile so it evaporates QUICK. By doing what I did, you turn the air filter into a wick of sorts. It allows for a much more extended release of the ether to get a nice long 7 second run time instead of a little 1 second burst and then done like normal.
Never drove a 3 on the tree.
Same, but we're about to learn!
I learned to drive in a 1965 chevrolet malibu 3 on the tree, 283 with 2 barrell rochster carb!
It is really fun, my friends in college used to ask me why my old f100 had three pedals when it was an automatic..... then be confused when I was shifting gears 🤣
I bet it would run longer with some gas going to the carb!!
I had one 1995 300 6 five speed 150 w/t appearance and custom package s.o. truck best truck I owned
The 1995s have a great front clip on them, what color was your truck?
@@RustBucketRescue maroon gray vinyl interior headliner delete it had solid steel commercial bumpers on it it was special built by a well company appearance package was built Ford tough in America mud flaps and floor mat I had the window sticker to it
@@conorcuomo4283 what an absolute gem!
@@RustBucketRescue Midwest weather kill it brought with 199999 it had 270000 went sold to body shop man cause suspension start rotting off he was going fixed the chassis rust problem and it probably still running with around 400,000 mi on it cuz he said he was going to keep it alive until it returns to the Earth
@@conorcuomo4283 I believe it! There is no killing a 300 six, they’ll outlast the human race!
CARB RE-BUILD THE FLOAT IS STUCK IN LOW IN THE BOWL I GUESSING
Rebuilding the carb as you read this brother!
I think you have a bad fuel pump or clogged fuel line between pump and carb!
Lol pulling a bunch of caps. Spraying here and there. Its obvious at the second start attempts that its the carburetor. You need to pull it out and investigate. Vintage motor are not that complex.
It just needed to pull fuel up :)
Why not putting you idling a bit higher
Just getting her running for starters, definitely going to fine tune the idle once the carb is rebuilt!
Not a fan of all that spray in the carb, 2 stroke oil mixed in gas is better
That’s why I sprayed Deep Creep into the intake in between attempts, keeps the top end lubed up while using starting fluid
Yeah all that starting fluid will wash the oil from cylinder walls causing a dry start!!!
@@mikewilliams2072 don’t worry I sprayed generous amounts of Deep Creep into the intake to prevent that
