    Lyrics:
Rain on the roof of your parked car. Sam, I was fucking afraid. I bit the ulcer on my tongue, and spilled my guts in your driveway. I’ve been hollow for so long. I figured that’s how I’d stay. No one’s seen me without my clothes on in almost a decade. You said, “Hold on, the wound is gonna mend, and when it’s all gone, I’ll write in wet cement, ‘In lieu of flowers, shake the dirt off. I’m with you ‘til the bitter end.’” I called a club in the village, booked us a three night stick, but if you told me to go fuck myself, then I’d get it. Eric said that he’d fly out if I could clean up my shit. I can’t lose you guys again. I swear that I’m gonna fix it. Box fan sings in your window. You keep averting your gaze. Bought you a notebook and a hoodie. I know that I missed your birthday, and this time ‘sorry’ don’t cut it. All I can give you is space, but this next year’s a leap year, so there’s time when you’re ready. If you’re ready.

From the first few lines I'm bawling, I'm 28 years old. Wife had a miscarriage, we got divorced, I found aaron west. I had seen the wonder years live before but had no idea about aaron west. There is no artist or piece of media more important to me than this discography. This song is absolutely incredible, it's a middle ground between routine maintenance and we don't have each other. I have nothing more to say than thank you to soupy. Your music has meant more to me than you can imagine, and helped me through my darkest time regardless of how cliche it sounds

I'm so sorry to hear you went through something so difficult that it was chosen as the ultimate trial for a character to go through - my best wishes to you man, I hope you recover like Aaron did in the storyline of the albums, and I hope you aren't in as dark a place as he was. And don't worry about being cliche, I can't imagine anyone applying that to your situation (and like, fuck them if they do)

It's so fucking beautiful where 'Our Apartment' is just one guy and his guitar, the beginning of this journey. As we head to the end, this song swells with gang vocals of all those Aaron picked up along the way, it's beautiful and has me in tears!

My really good best friends mom is in the band she plays keyboard/ Cathryn 😊 after going through a tough time of losing my dad, this song really helped me get through it. Just screaming it, and crying while playing drums to it. It really helped. Thank you so much keep going, Dan and the Roaring 20s keep making me happy and sad at the same time.

10 years of following this journey has been incredible. My life has forever been changed by these stories and melodies. What an incredible album and a fantastic conclusion to a heartbreaking story of a person who just wants to heal. I will never forget what I’ve learned, how I’ve grown, and the tears I’ve shed. Thank you so much for this and for reminding us it’s okay to be broken. Pain only a chapter in our story and you are never alone in your struggles.
    Long live AW&TR20s ❤

in just one week, I : parted from my partner, lost a job I absolutely loved, and found out my father passed away..
Before all that happened, I really felt like I was on the upswing of my struggles..and now I'm back down again..
..I've listened to this song over and over and over since it came out and it's like a bright firefly of hope in this endless yawning dark..
I know I'll be my sunshiney sunflower self again, we just gotta hold on, the wound is gonna mend. ❤‍🩹

it seems like every time i really need it, i check back and find a new Aaron West song. Routine Maintenance truly saved my life, i had givin up and youtube recommended it to me. i am so glad it came to me when it did, because before i had heard the whole thing i said "this might be the last thing i ever hear." thank you so much every day for this project. it turns out when i saw Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties i had enjoyed the show with friends i hadnt met yet or hadnt seen in a long while. Subterranean was a great venue to cry with a room full of people in. thank you all again for this song, i cant wait to hear the rest.

Went to see you guys in Chicago in June 2022 with a close friend. One of the greatest experiences of my life. I've felt that Aaron's journey has mirrored mine throughout major events in my life. Losing a child and love, running from responsibilities and your family, being at your lowest before finding comfort in strangers, rediscovering what's important and reuniting with family when it matters. Will never forget listening to Lead Paint & Salt Air on the 4th of July in 2019, the last day I spent living in my car before finding a home with an estranged friend, the one who went with me to that concert. Unfortunately, I couldn't meet the band that day due to COVID concerns, but I grabbed a pre-signed poster I have framed today - in the apartment with him. It truly felt like coming full circle, and just as I assume Aaron will have, I've made mistakes since then, but growth is what really matters. Thank you, to the whole band, for writing such a beautifully flawed character. I'll be there with the others for the livestream in April ❤

I'm a recovering addict. 8 months clean on the first. My girlfriend of six years passed away in 2020. I know we werent married, but 6 years is more than some marriages.
I always feel so awkward when I admit that I haven't "been with" a single person since then.
There's so much here that hits home. I havent cried like this in such a long time.
They're coming to my city this summer, and im spending what littke money i have to my name to see them live.
    Soupy, thank you.
And to all the other fans here sharing their own personal stories, youre like a distant family member. I love all of you, stay strong. It does get better.

I've been following Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties for 3-4 years now. While only being 19 and don't fully relate to the exact story of Aaron West, his music has always been my favorite. Coming from a family of 70's and 80's rock, listening to my own mix of genres of Pop-punk, emo, alternative, folk, folk-rock, etc... and always being surrounded by country music (from where I've lived) Aaron West's music speaks wonders in all those categories (don't get mad at me if their specific genre isn't what I listed). The story of this guy named Aaron West has been beautifully crafted into 3 albums released over the course of 15 years, and love every, single, song... Dan "Soupy" Campbell has to be one of the best storytellers in the music industry ever. Starting in the beginning just a guitar to a beautifully crafted, full ensemble; thanks for your music.

I cant put in to words how much this band means to me. Its just so full of hope, and this song is another great example of that. Its pure joy wrapped in the layers of the heartache it takes to get there. So authenitic, so heartfelt, and like evey other song aaron west puts out- i can picture it in my head like a family movie. God i love this band.
