My girlfriend of 4 years left 1 year ago this month. This has been the hardest year of my life. This is the hardest year of my life. I'm still re-learning that no one is waiting for me back home. I had to learn how to go throughout the day without someone to look forward to and I had to learn to not bring up inside jokes and references that her and I only knew to other friends, I still have to learn how to not feel sad when I walk down the park, or drive down a street or to a certain theater. I still haven't learned to sleep without a "good night" or a "I love you". Although I feel as if I'm losing to depression, I know that I am putting up a good fight. But all fights have ever done for me is push the ones I love away. I'm afraid I'll lose myself, too some day. This album helped me process my emotions. It helped me see that this is what heart break is like. It helped me push to seek happiness.
***** The girl I loved more than anything in the world, who was always there for me and always had my back through thick and thin, one day decided that she just wasn't in love with me anymore. This was one month ago this weekend. I understand how you feel dude. It's a low that is almost impossible to comprehend if you haven't been there before. But i'm slowly learning that love can be redirected in other places. If you have hobbies or interests you should really try to put your heart into them. The return will be overwhelming. This is a big world, and there is a lot out there. I know its really hard to see that right now, but hey man time heals all.
Tyler Roseberry It's been a year and a half for me, and I still feel empty at times. I drink more. I write more, too. I tell myself I don't miss her, I miss who she was.
I work with a guy with whom depression won. There are options. Talk to someone, a doctor, whoever, but talk. Not to suggest anything, but suicide is the number one preventable death and there is help out there. Good luck, I know you can do this.
What's brilliant about this is besides the instruments, he writes differently for aaron west than for the wonder years. On the surface they seem similar but he uses different grammar and says certain things differently and it's so subtle but it's so cool.
I completely agree, the styles are similar, what soupy has called "realistic pop punk lyrics" and it seems the same with this band just with subtle changes in grammar and other literary devices, love the wonder years and am falling in love with this band
+Jon Wright the wonder years are my all time favorite band, and Aaron west is brilliant. It shows Dan Cambell"s talent as a writer in a different way because he can not only write brilliant songs about his life and his friends, but create an entirely new character and make us feel Aaron West's emotion.
Aaron West is spectacular. I just released my new project “A Light Left On” that is heavily inspired by Aaron West. You should come check it out on my page!
Yay!! My debut of being an extra in a music video. What an experience! So much fun :) Soupy, you are an awesome person, can't wait to run into you again.
My favorite part is that you can tell all of the people who seem upset or confused about the song obviously listen to this style of music. You don't grow a mustache like that without liking Aaron west and the roaring twenties.
"In writing the concept for this, I found myself really engaged by music videos where a band plays to a hostile audience,” Campbell tells Billboard. “I love the idea that it functions primarily as a performance video but that it has a storyline element as well. I watched the Mountain Goats get kidnapped and forced to play for a crime syndicate in their video for ‘This Year.’ I watched Bright Eyes play to an angry cowboy bar in ‘Four Winds’ and I thought about what the perfect hostile audience for Aaron West would be.... "I came to realize that, as a wedding band, Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties would be putrid, playing sad-sack songs about a failed marriage as a young couple tries to celebrate the dawn of theirs." go read the short interview he did about this piece where it premiered over on billboard - i get some of you are upset about it but there is reasoning behind the video. maybe you dont agree with the reasoning, but it is there.
can I make a deeper meaning guess? The "happy couple" seems so eager to dance to the music they thought was going to be played. so they dance and smile until the music changes. didn't expect that. But, just because they can't handle it, doesn't mean that no one else can! so others start dancing and are happy. But ultimately, everyone gets sick of it and sits down. Could this be a representation of life and couples? that when we start out, we're so happy and inlove. And once things change, and the happiness goes away.. you don't know if you can adapt. and you look around and everyone else is happy, but why aren't you? even though in reality, everyone goes through some hard times and eventually gets sick of the "music". You just have to make the best of it. The reason it ends the way it does is because that's how "Aaron West" sees it and how his relationship ended. Just looking into it and the musical genius that Dan Campbell is!
You never get "sick" of your wife or husband unless you never loved them to start with. Real love exist. Happiness doesnt just go away, you make it go away.
I like to imagine it's Diane's second wedding and they don't realize it's Aaron West 'till it's too late. The way he looks at her at the end and she cries/runs seems like they know each other.
It's a shame that We Don't Have Each Other didn't get more attention. Truly a great album. The moment I noticed that it was actually a story about a guy named Aaron West dealing with a relationship breakdown, blew my frikkin mind.Would love to hear more of Dan's solo acts.
Everyone is probably upset because this not a love song, it's about a man going through a divorce a thought that should never be going through anyones mind at a wedding
@@james_fisch your comment brought me back to this video after 7 years, and I can honestly say I’ve never cringed so hard at myself in my life. I apologize
So, not sure if someone has commented on this already. Also, yes, I know, far too many years late with the comment. A lot of the inspiration for this album came from the mountain goats. This music video, where Aaron is playing a song about Dianne at a wedding, was inspired by the song “This Year.” In that music video, the mountain goats are kidnapped and forced to play that song, forced to play their music in a hostile environment. This music video has the same concept, playing this song in a hostile environment. The last song of the album, “Going to Georgia” is actually a cover of a song by the mountain goats of the same name. Really cool to see Soupy pay them such homage in an already dense piece of musical work. Hope this provides a new level of affinity for this masterpiece!
So true. Aaron West is spectacular. I just released my new project “A Light Left On” that is heavily inspired by Aaron West. You should come check it out on my page!

The next album he does should be about him working to win Dianne back and what it's like when he finally does. I think this is an amazing story and Dan has made something extraordinary.
i was on the warped tour page to see who's playing this year & i'm like who the hell is Aaron west & the roaring twenties.. & it's Soupy playing guitar! Awesome!
I've never had anyone to come home to or anyone waiting for me. Even if I did and then have it ripped away, I'm cool enough to move on and understand that my happiness comes from within. You've gotta share what you've got not depend on what they have..…..
I've seen that sax player before. he was with The Wonder Years in the 2014 fall tour with TSSF and Modern Baseball. He also toured this year with Four Year Strong on TSSF spring tour. Whats his name?
Can't think of his name but he's Twy's tour manager. He also played in a band called We Are the Union. And he also plays saxophone on Hey Thanks by the Wonder Years!
+ Danny LossI LITERALLY just found out about this video and asked the same thing! I think it is!! Holy Hell...wonder how many people on here even know who that is...
Ha - you'd be amazed at the songs you get asked to play at weddings. People don't listen to the lyrics. You broke up with her so you could relate to this song better? Or you just broke up with your girlfriend and now you can really relate to this song? Hahahahaha jk but grammar errors can be too funny.
It's killing me reading people comment saying things like "this guy looks like / sounds like Soupy from TWY hahaha or "Is that Aaron West's wife" hahaha too funny.

The Wonder Years is a pop punk band, but Aaron West's vocal and instrumental timings and patterns seem to take a lot of influence from older emo acts
Plot twist:The first wedding band was Wonder Years
This is amazing
🤣🤣 nice one...
ALL MY FRIENDS ARE IN WEDDDDINGGG BANDSSSSSD
The feels. Oh, the feels.
Aaron West is spectacular. I just released my new project “A Light Left On” that is heavily inspired by Aaron West. You should come check it out on my page!
CAN WE PLEASE GET MORE AARON WEST MUSIC VIDEOS TO PLAY OUT THE WHOLE ALBUM LIKE A MOVIE. THAT WOULD BE SICK. k bye thnx :)
Heck. That would be something special.
Yay!! My debut of being an extra in a music video. What an experience! So much fun :) Soupy, you are an awesome person, can't wait to run into you again.
local soupy ruins a wedding
Hahaha yes!!!!
Who's Soupy?
soupy is the leader singers nickname. his real name is Dan Campbell, and Campbells just happens to be a soup company.
InhaleAIR I think that’s why his nickname is Soupy.
Plot twist: the bride is soupy's ex and he's purposely ruining it.
My favorite part is that you can tell all of the people who seem upset or confused about the song obviously listen to this style of music. You don't grow a mustache like that without liking Aaron west and the roaring twenties.
His voice always makes me want to cry
I swear to god, i find you everywhere 0.o
Arian hmn Right?
Also, do you actually listen to Orchid?
ninjalemurdude Yup I do
Arian hmn Haha! I try to listen to them on occasion, and I can enjoy it for about 5 minutes, but it just gets too rough after a while.. XD
ninjalemurdude
Huh, i listen to more abressive and heavy stuff than Orchid :P

That just so happens to be in the playlist that this is in too!

Dude, 9 years later Aaron West is still down on his luck...
That was pure awesomeness. My older brother, Soupys dad and soupy, make laugh. That video is perfect. Telling stories is how Soupy lives.
Everyone is probably upset because this not a love song, it's about a man going through a divorce a thought that should never be going through anyones mind at a wedding
you hit the nail on the head, friend
Thanks for clearing that up, bro.
You’re a god damn genius, Gump.
If you look closely, he's playing a guitar in the music video which can also be heard in the song it's based on

It’s been 3 years. I think of you daily, I hope you’re happy, you deserve the world my love
Dude, after listening to this the thousandth time, I’ve come to notice, this is actually the sweetest song 😤😭
the actors in this video are gorgeous
Oh snap! Ace is here :D
.. damn this is so good.
I really love the vibrancy that the brass section adds to the Aaron West sound.
Love Aaron West/soupy with all my heart
Ace Enders should get a singing part as well !!! He's an amazing vocalist !
Still love this song. Ace on Banjo is absolutely excellent too.
This song will never get old no matter what stage I am in my life..

+Landon Williams Spoiler alert: it's not. Thinks haven't gotten happier for our friend Aaron, unfortunately, though the music is better than ever.
Well, the story has a fairly hopeful ending at least!
Didn't know this existed until today but I do know and that's all that matters.
I've never felt so cold and alone, but hey there's always tomorrow.
Sweet line.
Lmao I love his reaction at the end like "I don't know why the hell she left- I was just singing. Dude don't blame me."
Absolutely one of my favorite music videos.
This was uploaded on my birthday. Best birthday present ever.
Aaron West and The Wedding Crashers
My cover band
i was on the warped tour page to see who's playing this year & i'm like who the hell is Aaron west & the roaring twenties.. & it's Soupy playing guitar! Awesome!
How am I just now finding this?! So good.
Can I just say, this song was amazing live. Even without the Roaring Twenties.
Hey it's Ace on banjo!!' :D can't wait for a new Early November album. This album is fantastic, glad they picked this song for a video
Omg this is my new fav song
Just realized ace enders is banging on the banjo!! Love that dude SJ/Philly love
Me TOO! And immediately scrolling the comments to confirm.
I've never had anyone to come home to or anyone waiting for me. Even if I did and then have it ripped away, I'm cool enough to move on and understand that my happiness comes from within. You've gotta share what you've got not depend on what they have..…..
+Kyle Gilbert That's really easy until it's not, my dude. Empty space isn't empty until it was full in the first place.

Guy playing the sax was in We Are The Union!
JJR. He's been their tour manager and also works for Warped!
Dimitra Dimopoulos
he also has a pretty rad care bear shirt, if you've ever seen it.
This song makes me feel so many emotions
Best weddingband ever :D
Possibly the best music video ever
This song and video is awesome! Does anyone here listen to country/folk music?
You could drive a truck through the saxophonist's earlobes.

I actually tried, got stuck. Thanks a lot.
What a song!!!!!! & I love the video.
Just found this one love wonder years already. Now some new to me extras yessss.
Anyone know what guitar soupy is using? Looks similar to the Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat with different inlays.
this is too good.
The instrument break at 1:10 is the best
Listening to this in my apartment dancing by myself while making some tea
Thought I was listening to the Counting Crows for a second. Really digging this project though.
It's funny how they tried to dance to you and slowly all gave up lmao, so perfect.
Best anything else band ever
This is so fucking good. I love the incorporation of all the instruments and the lyrics hit home for me.
This is the best wedding band ever.
what's the name of the instrument Ace Enders played? Not the banjo, the other one.
And he also plays saxophone on Hey Thanks by the Wonder Years!
john james ryan
I must have watched this video a hundred times by now
Best. Wedding Band. Ever.
Well, listening to this just after my divorce was not the best idea. Don't do it.
Why could I see this album becoming a musical?
ACE ENDERS!!!
My newest fav band!
Too dope.
They can perform anything they want at my wedding!! >.>
It's the wonder years tour manager on sax. I laughed.
Aaron West and the Other Hipsters In the Band
Is that fucking Ace Ender on banjo??
+ Danny LossI LITERALLY just found out about this video and asked the same thing! I think it is!! Holy Hell...wonder how many people on here even know who that is...
+Danny Loss Yep. The flower girl is Ace's daughter too
he did produce the album and played allot of the instruments, love that he's still in the music scene
What brand of guitar does the guitar player have? Can't tell
Jesus...for a minute I thought that was J.T. Woodruff of Hawthorne Heights at 1:56. Lmao
That last 10 seconds of the video made me go insane. I didn't even realize it the whole video
I want him to play at my wedding
Yes please
Still religiously listening to this
Dan's guitar is the best part of this video.
In case anyone is wondering, it's a Fender Hellcat Deluxe.
More like best wedding band ever
It's killing me reading people comment saying things like "this guy looks like / sounds like Soupy from TWY hahaha or "Is that Aaron West's wife" hahaha too funny.
Hahaha. Its like motha fuckas are you serious?!?
I'd totally play this at my wedding
Perfection
All hail King Soupy!!!!!!
Is that ace Enders on banjo?
Uhhhhhh I would love this to be my wedding band?
I would also love someone to want to dance to this with me.
I'm not sad anymore or anything...
Do you know how psyched I would be if Soupy was at my wedding?
Is that Jon Hendren at 1:55
I want them as my wedding band
Can soupy play at my wedding?
Literally me when I was watching this
We could. (;
I'm not gay, but I would totally let soupy tickle my no-no place with his beard
I just screamed
That comment gave me life.
OMG im dying your a bloody legend mate
I've watched this video a thousand times and every time i do, i read this comment and laugh every time.

Fetching ace Ender's on the banjo
IS THAT ACE ENDERS IN THE BACK WAHT
I'LL GIVE YOU SOMETHING IN THE BACK AS WELL

Anyone else notice that the sax player was the same guy who toured with FYS spring/summer 2015?
