Yo everyone! Couriway here and today we're reacting to the New Minecraft World Record by Zylenox! Zy is an incredibly talented runner and deserved this more than arguably anyone, and I'm glad to call him a friend! This is a monumental run for minecraft speedrunning and sub 8 has finally been achieved!

Hey everyone! I tried to make this analysis very beginner friendly and highlight of lot of different aspects of the run, let me know what you thought!
I actually learnt from this video why people build lava portals in the nether - at first I thought Zylenox pearled into the lava by accident but apparently it's to spawn inside the stronghold more consistently. Thank you for that and as always great video.

By the way, I just find it insane how speedrunners can just come up with these absolutely big brain strats, like, I would have never come up with the kind of things I see in rsg nowadays

I like how as speedruns get more quicker Couriway has to commentate faster. Can't wait to hear Couriway slowly becoming Eminem.

It’s crazy how much speedrunners can push the game’s limits. Sub 8 seemed an impossible thought when 1.16 was released! Congrats on the world record Zylenox
I remember back when people thought sub 10 would be pushing the limits. Fucking insane
I remember there was like 17:xx wr or something long time ago and it was called "almost ubeatable" and now its literally 10 minutes fastet thats insane

As someone who has seen Zylenox from even before he became MCSR (GD times) I can say that his reaction was the most emotion I have seen him feel all this time, all I can say is that this was a deserved WR, close to perfection

Zylenox is special, whatever game he touches he becomes a god at it. Before MC, Zylenox was an astounding Geometry Dash level creator and a decent player, and now, he holds the freaking random seed world record for minecraft... Absolutelly insane.

It is the best speedrun ever. For now, at least - you never really know just how far people can go with minecraft speedrunning.
It's mindblowing and i somehow imagine the human limit is getting close... I don't see anyone doing it all in much less than 7'30'' even being extremely lucky on every event or decision

Love your live commentary, and the fact that you add notes in editing since it's not possible to talk fast enough to explain everything! Even though I know a lot, I always seem to learn something new in these world record reactions. Hope you keep doing these for future world records :)

I feel like no matter how hard something may seem, speedrunners will always find a way to achieve the impossible. And that, to me, is the beauty of speedrunning.

Imagine if he had more pearls and hit the 1 in 8 back dragon zero cycle for a sub 7:30 run. That would've been insane.
Everything in this run is insane, its like what people 1 year ago would've called a god run, hypermodern mapless treasure + ravine portal + fastion + 2 eye throw 100% ninja brain, the only thing it's missing is a 0 cycle at the dragon.
I had this stream playing in the background with no audio, barely paying attention. Didn't even realize it was world record until I saw a bunch of people in his world. Also thanks for not turning his sub 8 Speedrun into a 30 minute breakdown, this was nice and simple
I really like these type of videos - your commentary as well as the notes you put in the video - I actually learnt about how lava portals are built so that you're low enough to spawn into the stronghold. Great video, great editing, and of course, great run from Zylenox.

It’s about time I saw a speedrunner overlap blaze TNT with killing a blaze via the explosion. Got him a rod too.
Yea crazy part is that if that were a blaze bed then the blaze couldn’t drop (without being hit like in the run). But since zylenox lit the tnt it counts as player inflicted damage.
The problem is when you have two TNT, any rods produced by the first explosion might get deleted by the second. I think that's why a lot of speedrunners I see using double TNT (happens even more often in AA) will clear out blazes first and light the tnt after.

It's insane to me that ANYONE can beat the entire game in less than 8 minutes on a random seed. The skill involved is freaking mind blowing!

Wow. Having followed mcsr since late 2020 (and then not so much the last months) it's just so insane to see Zylenox and others still optimize and persevere for better times and this run is so cool to see.

Replying to what you said at 7:45, this run was the 3rd fastest stronghold enter at 5:50 (1st is Crookst's 5:27, 2nd is Cube's 5:54) and was the fastest end enter ever at 6:14 (2nd is Crookst's 6:27, 3rd is Feinberg's 6:35. At the time it was only the 6th sub-7 end enter.

Zylenox has been the one person I have been rooting for since the beginning. He used to be a very famous and insane player in a game called geometry dash, which he eventually quit. After he quit I saw him doing speedruns and saw him get 2nd and thought, "Whaaaaaaaaaaa....
ive watched zylenox since his good ol geometry dash days and i would have never expected that a few years later he would get such an insane world record on minecraft

I Haven't watched speedrunning in so long. I first started watching around the 13 minute and 12 minute barriers, and stopped about after the 9:36. It's so crazy how far these runners have come, but I guarantee it's going farther.
