This run is by far (at least in my opinion) the greatest we have ever seen. everything was so clean fast and calculated it is just amazing to watch. crazy to think we're slowly getting closer to the sub 7 barrier

I think leaving on 5 rods was actually a genius play and quite possibly the deciding factor on getting the wr. With no more blazes nearby it could’ve easily taken more than 20 seconds to get another rod, especially if his luck ends and a few blazes don’t drop. Rolling the dice for the ~34% chance of a 2 eye was absolutely the correct play, but the fact nofear can make that decision in an instant is so impressive
what's even more impressive is that he would have been making the decision for like a minute before that, counting blazes and rods, maybe have even made the decision for all possible paces already, i hadn't heard of nofear before this but the way couri made him sound had me picturing him with spreadsheets for everything he does at all paces and situations
no he did not make that decision in an instant, when ur going for sub 8 u always take the chances

The craziest part of this is that this seed is definitely not as good as zy's seed and yet still nofear did it 20 seconds faster. Imagine what would nofear could have done if it was housing instead of treasure 🤯
The bastion type didn't really matter here, nofear just didn't get obby from his chests and had to wait for trades thus making it slower. If he got obby, the splits would've been similar.
@@hogiepogie4fair, but he also had to navigate through bottom treasure (and as quick as he did it, it's still a time loss) plus mining the gold blocks in housing takes less time than in treasure
Hard to say, nothing is guaranteed and successful runs are rare even with good seeds
Zy seed is better but the fort split was a minute slower and had a 30s slower end fight so it goes both ways
His movements are so fluid, like he doesn't question a single time where he's gonna go. Props to him and congrats
This run is insane, everything was incredibly optimized, I don't see it being beaten any time soon.

just checked his crafting at 5:12, from the moment he opens his inventory to the moment he closes it, it takes him ~25 frames.
25 frames in 60fps is equal to ~417ms
for reference, the reaction time of a human is around 200ms. (can go down even lower).
this man is insane.
yeah of course this isn't actual reaction time it's more muscle memory but the amount of practice and skill he has in his mechanics is insane.

Actually, assuming my maths is correct, there is ~34% chance that you'll get a 2 or more eyes in the end portal (1 - 0.9^12 - (12 * 0.1 * 0.9^11) = 0.341). Quite a good gamble on his part, especially considering no more blazes in sight. 7.24 is so incomprehensible to me, insane run.
To go 4 for 5 on his blaze rods is probably the most impressive part
there's a 18.75% chance to get 4 or more rods from 5 blaze rods (5 * 0.5^4 *0.5^1 + 1 * 0.5^5 * 0.5^0 = 0.1875)

slight nitpick but the probability of leaving on 5 rods working is slightly lower as you need to consider the possibility of eye breaks - assuming you send 1 eye throw, there's roughly a 29% (.8 [no break]* .341 [2+ eyes] + .2 [break] * .11087 [3+ eyes]) chance you can enter the end, and if it takes you 2 eye throws, about 25% (.8^2 [no breaks] * .341 [2+ eyes] + 2 * .8 * .2 [1 break] * .11087 [3+ eyes] + .2^2 [both break] * .02564 [4+ eyes])

What I found so amazing about this run, was that a lot of his RNG was objectively mid. The number of 5rd blaze spawns, the obsidian trades, the fortress and bastion locations, and the RP chest contents. He just played through all of that with such finesse and got a wicked time :D
Massive congrats to NoFear!! This was an absolutely incredible run, it's so cool that this was the first ever zero-cylcle in a WR! NoFear played this seed flawlessly, and it's exciting to see how far this community has come!

I sometimes watched his clips and his streams from time to time, he was grinding like crazy and with an incredible amount of focus doing runs for hours straight...keeping an insane pace

i dont really keep up with speedrunning anymore (except when one of your WR recaps pops across my feed), so its wild to watch. When I went to his channel to watch the run, I was confused about the boat (ty for explaining) and then at the end there I was thinking about how crazy it is that people are zero-cycling--so cool to learn that this is THE FIRST WR zero cycle.

I remember a time when a sub 10 seemed completely impossible! It's incredible to see how far everyone has come since then. The fact that someone can do in under 8 minutes what takes me over 3 hours, that's insane and I love it haha

Minecraft speedrunning has gotten so crazy over the years. The way he was moving looked the way speedruns in games like Mario look like - trained, clean and precise and yet it was a random seed. Truly impressive

This has to be one of the greatest wr of all time . The seed and rng were considerably worse than zylenox's wr and it really shows no fear's skill and rsg's potential.
rng wasn’t that bad, if it was truly bad rng this run never would’ve happened but trades and esp blazes and portal were very good rng to cancel out the bad bastion and other terrain stuff

tbh the only thing that confused me about the run was tall buried treasure. each time it happens I think my screen got messed up. Does tbt use a preset to fit the window to a certain size? how does it work?

Hi Couriway! I have an oddly specific question to ask you. Has anyone ever thought about for the triangulation, after you get the angle and copy your location, you move forwards, and then copy your location again. So you get two points, so you can use the point slope form method instead of the polar coordinate method for figuring out the line. Would this have any improvement on the accuracy of the line? If you don't know, could you pass this question on to people who know the math behind all the ninjabrain stuffs? Thanks!
