Still an awesome car. Where's the official "Heisenberg Edition"?
Chrysler as a whole Jeep, Dodge, etc. Has really stepped their car game up. And this 300 is a beast on the highway.
heisenberg car!
Yeah ! yes, I'm a bit late in replying to your comment.
the SRT8's 6.4L 470 HP makes me think "Wow what a game changer for the whole group" that number shocked me I was expecting a number ranging from 395 - 415.
I love the 300Cs, I have an 07 5.7L and it's absolutely awesome. If I ever trade it in it'll be for one of these STR-8s. Muscle coated in leather and chrome.
Its easy to knock this car but, when you drive one, its way different to watching it and casting a vote without setting foot inside one.
I own one of these cars as my daily driver, a lovely car to drive. It can be docile, and agro when plant the loud pedal, it really is a "Gentlemans express".
agreed. everyone I work with dogs me for have a Chrysler until they ride in it.
I test drove this car Saturday. Mean as hell.
They look really good, definitely an improvement.
Great vid...are the tires the F1's or the RS-A's? Which I have seen as an OEM tire on different 2012 SRT
godsh this car looks and sounds SO great!
Still no competition for the CTS-V (not really sure that it was meant to be). Needs a manual transmission option.
Love the new design
@marshknute You keep in mind that those 470 horses are made from a naturally aisparated engine which is the only important thing.
Beautiful car! beautiful as the previous version!
Love these cars!
@MadMonroe90 LX chassis wich includes W211 and W220 and a 8 speed as seen on a BMW 760Li
@DatGuyRawkz New chassis came out 2011. Last time that was done was 2004 :) Chrysler 300 is 2004-2010 car so by calculations - it took 7 years for Chrysler to get the new model out. Wow! :)
i do valet and ive driven one of these, like i actually got to drive it and its well worth it, theyre seriously quick
Looks much nicer now.
really a beautiful car
Not to mention it has way more style and class that the Mustang, and Camaro. So unless you plan on racing every Mustang, and Camaro you see the Challenger is definitely the way to go.
Breaking bad
@DatGuyRawkz And what were the changes? New type of bulbs ? :)
I fully agree that this is a beautiful car. I'm not much of an American car fan,so this is something. However,I am perplexed by people who keep comparing this to a Bentley. I do not see any part of either vehicle looking like each other,apart from the large grill and emblem. Anyone cares to explain?
i never knew freddie prince jr. was doing car reviews in his leisure time.
@V8Supercar1 yes it is. watch the video again. The dude mention it in the video.
@MrStevennizzle compare both the EVO X and the Charger to the 2012 Nissan R35 GTR
@chrisman324 I'm not so sure that i agree with you comment especially concerning the interior. Having looked at both cars i don't understand why you'd claim they are the "EXACT SAME". While the door panels are similar and they appear to share the same SRT seats, the dash board and console are completely different, giving the 300 the classier/luxurious look that you're looking for. Take a look.
I feel a Chrysler 300 Hellcat coming for some reason...
Darude Her Right In The Sandstorm™ id like it if they don't add an aero package
And it didn’t came at all.
It's so a beautiful car!!!!
@chrisman324 actually it's only the same steering wheel and front seats
@ryanalexander4 I didn't think so... its a little strange he does a step by step commentary, but he knows what he is talking about, and is great at conveying what the car is doing. I don't mind it, and actually began to enjoy it as the lap went on.
@Chitown1911 Not at all bud. since the previous model was based on the Merc E class. It still has the Mercs prehistoric 5 speed auto from the early 2000s
@Mattman7342 The hell? I never removed anything. Thanks for putting that back lol.
i agree with @Ethanjbo135 ...make a chart of all the lap times, 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, slalom times, and figure 8 times and speeds, and keep the chart on your website and constantly update it
@nforspeed91 if anyone wants to know what this said, it said: "The samw german companies that the video referred to: Mercedes Bmw Audi"
It's not like 2 more doors will weigh a substantial amount to effect handling.
is it rear wheel drive ?
@CAJFB
I completely agree, I see your point with prestige and status and I love Ducati and KTM =D
good job SRT team...........
@DatGuyRawkz I have and older 7-series BMW. I used to have a Chrysler LHS, very comfy vehicle but just not build to last. So I kind of have a good idea of both brands
dear MotorTrend,
why you dont do a SRT-8 Race
LIKE PLZ
am a ford guy and i love the new chrysler srt
@DualofChaos There are actually a lot of Ford and GM cars that do 0-60 in less than 5 seconds. The Mustang GT, Mustang Boss 302, Shelby GT500, Cadillac CTS-V, Corvette, Corvette Z06, ZR1, Camaro SS are the ones that come to mind. I think Chrysler has a bit of a wider range of styles since they've dropped that 6.4 into the Charger, Challenger, and 300 but less actual cars that are as fast as the ones above.
@DatGuyRawkz Sounds like alot of work from Chrysler for the past 8 years :)
AMAZING CAR !!!
this was filmed in 2011?
@nforspeed91 witch german company are you talking about
If it was bulletproof, Walt would not have had to walk through the desert...
He made me wanna get it lol
@xxMafia101 Then who the hell else have they been mainly competing against for the last several decades? And why will that not be the case in 4 years?
I'm pretty sure the driver is Paul Walker's brother.
That's funny, I had an STi. Look at more of my videos and you'll see how to properly launch one. Maybe learn something.
Bought one an hour ago lol
@DatGuyRawkz Because changes in 300M came 8 years after it first got out of the factory :) It's so revolutionary :)
Thinking between this and the 2013 challenger srt8 392 or 2014 challenger scat pack. Any opinions?
What did you end up getting ? 300 all day for me it s a sleeper
All you people talking about it looks like a regular car, yea maybe in pictures. See one in person and it still has the big blocky sedan look to it. It does not look like an accord or camry. It looks like a clasic american sedan, in 2012 form.
Even 7 years later this car still looks awsome
what race track is that in the back at 1:25
@whatever04811 true, but for how much
love what chrysler did with this new 300. in my opinion all it needs is the tremec 6 speed out of the challenger and it would be perfect. and i know its wishful thinking but a 2-door coupe version would be awesome, to compete with the cts-v
I'm not a Chrysler guy, and I'm not a Ford guy, but it seems Detroit's big 3 pulled their heads out of their asses in 2011 and 2012. All the performance cars I've seen from American companies in the last 2 years have been phenomenal for their brackets. These SRT8s, the new 5.0... Its getting serious.
@whatever04811 Those dual overhead cam 4L v8s probably revs to 9-11000 rpms where as the single overhead cam hemi only revs up to 6000 rpms. Also those 4L v8s are probably cranking 250 to 340lb-ft of torque. Not at all comparable the 6.4L hemi's torque, which is identical to its HP
@25Celtics Auto Club, AKA California Speedway
@greenfaction4: Is it really a SOHC? If thats the case. How did they only come up with 470HP out of 6.4 liters?? Heck. Ford is now getting 444HP out of their 5.0 liter.
@clb5555 I know byt most of those cars are old and were made before this recession thing. It seems like Ford/GM are moving away from performance cars and closer to eco cars. There are a few exceptions like the Boss mustang and the camaro though so your right.
@DatGuyRawkz I was a huge Chrysler fan but after the pause between 2005-2010 I had nothing to say about it. If you make something as good as "300 - Car of the year" for 2004 you need to move forward instead of staying on one place
@DocWolph yeah it's sad deal, but oh well what can you do, Ralph Gilles really kicked things up when he took over dodge, and now SRT. god how many sleepless nights am I going to have until my new 392 comes along....mind you the 18 speaker stereo will give me sleepless nights too I think lol
I can see the Rolls Royce Phantom design hasn't left. Jeeze, no wonder its called Poor mans phantom. The sad thing is, thats what people called it when Chrysler debuted the 300C concept design lmao.
The 300 was on Top Gear.Jeremy did not care for it
What borrowed bently cues? That notion is crap, look up a 1953 chrysler 300 and tell me the new ones dont look just like the old 50's chrysler 300's. It wasn't built to look like a rolls or bently, it was built to look like a classic chrysler.
Flying disc sun emblem or chrysler logo was used in Egypt, Sumeria and other places too.
@sesmiley You think Chrysler engineers don't know all this? Four valve engines are strong at higher RPM's,but low on that important bottom end torque.
want recommendations on what needs to be done? stretch out the trunk a little more, then i will say it's acceptable. and put more quality into it please.
Damn this is one nice car...
@MrStevennizzle ya and the Charger is used as a police car but only the 5.7 hemi not the formally the 6.1 hemi. cops should use the 6.4 hemi
IDk but that 300 looks gangsta ...put it in black bit and black and white rims + some white lines along the car and u r the man !
@nforspeed91
agreed, but you have to admit this will cost half as much as a m5
@exa0777 sure is
u forgot about the Beats speakers!
@luiluilui272727 Yes, swagger is a word and has been for a very long time, only recently did it get the usage you're thinking..
@cadillacowboy1 sure...
@nforspeed91
They should, this looks a 100% better than those soulless, cold cars and gives you 90% of their performance, for nearly half the money. 300 SRT8 is straight fucking slick.
@nforspeed91 agreed
@DatGuyRawkz Nothing personal pal. I really like how we exchange comments :) I hope you enjoy this car as much as I enjoy mine :)
This version is light years better than the Chrysler 300 I rented in Vegas. Amazing what a car company can do with my bailout money.
@AnalogRocks thats what the challenger srt8 is for.
@AFG991
Helmet only when setting track times? Track days requires to wear a helmet at all times when on the track even if you're not pushing your car to it's full extent.
Not wearing a helmet doesn't make you any more tougher than someone who does. Unless you're insecure about how much of a ballsy person you are.
This 8 speed would make tye car so much better. And a few suspension upgrades would help too
Truth
he said swagger
so... why does the WK2 Grand Cherokee SRT8 get the 8-speed and we are stuck with a 5-speed?
That's what EVERYONE was wondering. Honestly, I think it's because they just wanted to be assholes. There's no other explanation.
Uhm, the only BOF vehicle that Chrysler produces is the Wrangler. The Grand Cherokee has been a unibody since the ZJ was debuted in '93. And it's definitely not an issue with strength. the 8-speed is not so huge and heavy that it would sacrifice structural support, in fact, is it any bigger physically than the 5 speed? and having 3 more gears with the same top speed would drastically IMPROVE economy. It's just chrysler being cheap as usual. after all, their "Leather" seats were 3/4 vinyl for he last gen 300's. The 300 has been on the LX platform since 2005, and the 700HP Challenger Hellcat is on the LC platform, which is a shorter version of the LX platform, so there is no excuse as to why they couldn't put the 8-speed in, other than the fact that it wasn't ready in 2012 and they didn't want to fuss with it afterwards. The next generation will probably have a 9-speed with the v8.
Nice :)
Makes me want to trade-in my '07 cammed SRT8 300
Chrysler really needs that new ZF 8 speed, i guess they still use the old 5 speed Merc transmission since it can hold ALOT of torques which Hemi's put out real well. Altho i think a Tremec 6 speed would go best with this.
@greenfaction4: I think the guy is wrong. I found a second source that says the engine is an OHV. Which makes a lot more sense considering the HP to liter ratio. If this thing really is a an OHC engine, its making Chrysler look really bad.
1:40 to 2:30. Hey look! I think I'm Jeremy Clarkson and failing miserably at it !
@marshknute: Its no secret and there is nothing magical about it. A car that has an OHC engine is gonna make more HP to liters. This car has an OHV engine. The advantages an OHC engine has is it obviously make more power per liters when its N/A. The advantages an OHV engine has is its lighter even though its larger in displacement.
Why don't you guys take all the cars you test to the same track and keep a record of lap times? That way we can determine the difference between different model years of the same car and other cars in general!
need to redo cuttlass fwd light and good power AANND mpg 29
@andrefrbk hahaha! good catch!
thars so much nicer than the pervious one!
whoahooo....now thats a car
dem wheels
