- We don’t know the exact birthdate of our rescued bears, so we chose January 22 as the “official” birthday for all our residents, as it falls mid-way in the range of possible birthdays. Today, we mark our 25 yearlings 14-month birthday and Finnegan’s 2-month birthday. We know you’re familiar with how the curators feed the yearlings in the Wild Enclosures, but you may not have seen how we take care of young cubs like Finnegan. We hope you enjoy watching this unedited video of Curator Janet feeding Finnegan. The routine is followed by all our curators every five hours, around the clock. Thank you for helping us care for Finnegan and the 25 yearlings currently in residence.

Please ppl when feeding a wild animal with a bottle please either put a stuffed animal against their hands or something firm ..it's natural for them to knead their mothers while. Nursing . The air grab you see this cub doing can make them a bit insecure . .I appreciate the commitment and dedication so many of you have

Is it possible to put the bottle inside of a fur-like pillow inside the cage so that when the baby feeds that it'll feel like a natural bear's breast? He's kneading open air, poor dear

The caregiver does feed the cub in a perfunctory and emotionally cold manner. Perhaps they would accept donations of old fur coats that could be attached to a pillow for the cub to kneed upon. Other rescue organizations do this so that the cubs don’t imprint upon the human caregiver. They do good work and I wish them continued success.
All bear cubs I have seen reach with front paws to steady themselves while suckling. Yet, I never see anyone support them with their free hand or forearm or something.

I also think that the "curator" does not hold the bear properly. When drinking from mother the bear supports himself against her body and in the hand of "curator" the bear is "swimming". Strange woman, her behavior is strange, robot like.
If may appear to be a "cold" way of feeding the baby bear, but I think it is being done that way purposely as to not let the baby bear assimilate with humans. If they assimilate with humans they will not be able to survive in the wild without them. With that being said, I still wish the baby had a little fuzzy stuffed animal to cling to.
Exactly. When you consider how they cuddle with their mama's while their feeding. They get a lot of cuddly time with mama bears, but thankful that these beautiful cubbies were taken care of nonetheless! They are adorable!!
