A little detail I noticed on second watch is when Rouge appears, her eyes are blank like she's on a serious mode, but when she sees Shadow her eyes lit up and casually hangs out with him.
Shadow has true friends by his side.

The line from Maria about Shadow finding his people and Team Dark now being back makes me wonder if the story they're setting up for Shadow in this series and the game will be about him like fully admitting to his friends how much he cares and making him open up again. I'm just so curious how that reunion they teased in the story trailer will go.
And then Memphis Tennessee returns through time travel to time travel back in time for the soul purpose of default dancing on Maria's corpse. This is not theory... I SWEAR. My source? It came to me in the shower.

Also the place shadow went to I believe is the temple/pyramid from SA2, which is how you got to the ARK in the first place
It really feels like the Team Dark dynamic never left. They all feel like themselves again, and its so nice to see them in action. I just wish this episode was a tiny bit longer, it ended too soon lol.

I think Rouge's flirting has hella depth if you think about it
She's a spy, flattery is in her skillset, it's how she gets what she wants- but what she wants is different things in different people-
With Sonic, she calls him Blue or Big Blue, and he either doesn't acknowledge her passes or shuts them down- she doesn't have that sway over him and she respects that- tho she tries every time anyway. Also given who he is, I think she generally just has a lot of respect for Sonic. He's a challenge, so she keeps trying
With Knuckles, she wants *him* (and probably also to hang around the Master Emerald), she loves to tease him and rile him up, and make him flustered. She thinks it's cute af, and any chance she gets to interact with him in that way she takes. Persistent girl.
And lastly, probably my favorite after this episode- Shadow. Shadow doesn't acknowledge her flattery one way or another- doesn't dismiss it or even really register it, he's always been to the point. Rouge knows him and his story, she has a lot of sympathy and respect for him. Like you said, they're besties, Rouge only wants good things for Shadow, I think her day is brightened any time he opens up or admits to enjoying anything. His development is her pet project, which is why I can confidently say that he's the only person who she doesn't try to get anything out of when she flirts with him- it's just her way of letting Shadow know how highly she thinks of him, and to try and make him feel good about himself, purely because she thinks he should. AND I LOVE THAT

I am happy to see Rouge and Omega return. I always love Team Dark and I always love seeing Shadow have friends, because he deserves them.
Ian Flynn must be living the dream right now. Having something you wrote be realized the way Dark Beginnings is doing it must feel amazing
It’s so strange how here it’s so incredible and yet Frontiers feels so neutered. I feel like Sega had a hand in why Frontiers felt so basic.
I loved this episode coz they got who these characters are and they took serious stuff seriously. Plus the comedy is also very good I love Omega he's so funny. About Rouge being introduced in the movies, I really want her to be sassy and playful. I imagine her being some former archeologist that thought "nah imma steal jewels for fun" after a bit but literally no one recruited her so she became the supplier to the Chao's kindergarten Black Market. Then idrk Stone recruits her and she turns on him(she's a double agent afterall) or she comes to earth looking for the master emerald, she gets caught by gun and starts working alongside Shadow. I can imagine her grounding Shadow just like Maria did when he starts being too harsh on himself or getting the mission done
The unstable, found family is back! Even giving us some more of the Commander, even a name! The confirmation that Shadow knew he was part of the Black Arms. These episodes don’t just do justice for Shadow, but Maria as well. She’s not just a motivation for him, she is her own person. I also love how Rouge doesn’t argue against Shadow saying the Black Arms and trusts him. And blackmailing Shadow into coming to Sonic’s birthday is so funny.
Omega only had two lines, but he still almost stole the entire episode for me. Roger knows how to bring the laughs, he is a comedian. 😂
They finally brought back Team Dark
Im a huge defender of Shadow the Hedgehog 2005 as well. Its honestly my favorites Sega game of all time. ❤

I recently deleted all my socials. And so I can’t see the reaction people are having to these episodes. I needed to see someone appreciating every small detail!
I want to see Rouge more with Team Dark. She doesn't shine with Sonic and his friends. Rouge shines much more when she's with Shadow, like light and dark. It's just that the chemistry between them is Omg! Undeniable.

I think from how the base looks this is Eggman’s Pyramid base especially with shadow looking for a spacecraft there like the Pyramid Rocket from SA2
Man I absolutely dark beginnings!! The animation is so cool and shadow’s relationship with Maria is so sweet.. I’m really excited for this new “era” of sonic
I also didn't expect to see Maria back and I really hope we'll see her again in the last chapter because the depth of her relationship with Shadow is so beautiful and heartbreaking. That we're able to see not only their bond but also Shadow's relationship with Team Dark is AMAZING. Omega in the backgroud just vibing and destroying everything, Rouge being happy to see him and teasing him....and then he just goes "Ok, I guess we're doing this" and they get into action. I really missed Team Dark.
We seriously need a new game where we can play as them because now I need moooooreeeeeeee

I knew Kirk Thornton had the talent and range to be an amazing Shadow since I first heard that he was cast, because I've watched most anime dubbed since I was a kid, so I have heard him in a TON of stuff, and I have heard him play characters with Shadow's character archetype at least a dozen times.
Also, Roger does a great job as Omega, but I gotta be honest, I really wish that Aaron LaPlante had actually gotten a chance to go all out voicing him, rather than only being in Team Sonic Racing. He's a great actor, but my guess is that he was replaced because he was recording for Resident Evil Village: Shadow of Rose while this project was being recorded.
We are eating soooooo good. Once again, I'm loving the interaction between Shadow and Maria. She's just a sweet and supportive person for Shadow and I just love moments just like that. That battle with Team Dark is simply peak. I'm ready for the next episode
Omega was a highlight
Sadly I’m gonna be in school when Shadow Generations comes out, but I just cannot wait for this game to come out.
Next Episode is probably Team Dark stealing the Rocket and Shadow going to the Ark alone. (Rouge going ahead to Sonics birthday.)
I wonder if we will see an adult Commander of GUN.
Sad to know there will only be one more short. Hopefully we'll get a Sonic anime soon.
What happened with Rouge's voice actress? 😮
Im a Silver the Hedgehog fan, he is my favorite and now I think we could possibly see him for ep 3. 1st was Maria, Emerl, Gerald qnd now ep 2 has Rouge and Omega, and they set the timeline to directly before Sonic's birthday and we know that Shadow does not show up on his birthday until the ending. The only other character that doesn't appear at Sonic's birthday(apart from Omega but I dont count him since he is not in the game whatsoever) is Silver. I still have in mind that this id Shadows year and knowing SEGA they might not give Silver time in the 3rd ep or even the game, but I do hope and now i know its a possibility

I don't think Rouge's voice is that bad. But the voice actress, Karen Strassman, has too high of a register most of the time. And she does that high, breathy voice for most of her roles. Both of Rouge's previous voice actresses had a more mature tone (despite Rouge supposedly being 18-19, I think), but it worked for the character and carried a bit more weight. Here she at least sort of sounds her age, and got some decent voice direction.
compared to the other 2 Karen's the best, first vooice was meh while the other made Rouge sound like she was a Milf.

Omega's always been one of my favourites, ever since he was introduced. Seeing him misused or underutilized since Heroes has been one of my biggest disappointments with the series, so seeing him again here, even with the limited amount of dialogue that he had in this episode, was still so nice.
Happy to know I'm not the only shadow 05 defender,especially after experiencing the game in japanese with a retranslation mod cuz man the story and dialogue are so much better.
No edgy shadow,no cringy lines,it makes me wonder how did the translation team screwed that up
I wouldn't say shadow "did it for her". He jus made the decision quickly cus while he doesn't want to do it it's dumb to argue over a simple thing when shadow is kinda in a rush to get to the ark. I question Y it is tho that Rouge is goin at all & feels the need to ask shadow to tag along? That doesn't make sense. Unless she's gettin somethin she deems valuable out of it she has no reason to go to sonic's party that sonic doesn't even know bout & also wouldn't care to have if tails didn't keep it from him. She's "friendlier" to them but she wouldn't do this of her own volition. I felt the way shadow agreed was also kinda off includin how Omega & Rouge were(until right at the end for rouge). If shadow did more of his usual "hmph" while lookin away from Rouge & closin hos eyes for a moment that would be more like him. Maybe add a "tch" & crossin him arms for good measure. The "I call dibs" was hella corny there was a diff way that could've been handled in eng. I like this ep more than the last but the "Ian-isms" jus put me off when they surface. I do like the "Ppl u can trust line" as it puts shadow's relationship in a camp that isn't "friends" but still shows somethin strong wit them

As an adult with cptsd who literally was born from people with narcissistic personality disorder (mother and grandmother) and antisocial personality disorder (father) I relate to these mind struggles a lot.
Is that even possible to be born from monsters and be a normal empathetic human being?
And of course it's absolutely possible. I like the message.
Still not sold on rouge hopefully the voice direction is better for her in the game assuming she's an NPC or has cutscenes.
BUT KIRK THORNTON IS KILLING IT
I've always liked his Shadow after hearing him in Lego dimensions him doing some Shadows iconic lines with such passion hearing those lines it was clear that it was the voice directions fault and awful writing in 2010s
Team Dark have always been friends, glad that's finally gotten through Sega's head. Again awesome stuff as always, didn't expect Abe but I'm glad he's there.
Just one thing I found odd though was the fact that Shadow knew in that scene with Maria that he was made through Black Doom's blood, wasn't it supposed to be a "plot twist" in the last story of StH that Black Doom is Shad's dad?
yes actually! although Shadow had amnesia in Shadow 05. so he was rediscovering himself and his past. i think that’s the explanation for that
@@valentinescookies.Yeah fair enough, I was also thinking that as the explanation, although it's still a bit weird since no Black Doom stuff is implied in any way in SA2 (since ofc yk that was all added in StH) and Shadow didn't have amnesia then. Guess it was just in the back of his head?
In any case though it's probably not worth getting worked up about ig, they still gave us that heartwarming little Shadow and Maria moment after all

Team Darks dynamic, along with lots of other characters, were put on the back burner for quite some time! i’m just happy we get to see them all interact and work together again

I used to be so annoyed with Kirk for the longest time, but these shorts have jumpstarted his redemption arc.
Well, it seems they fixed the translation error on the Japanese version of the episode.... who knew the Japanese equivalent of 'to raid' could mean something much more.... raunchy.
Anyway, does confirm that shadow isn't biological a hedgehog. He says he just looks like one but that he's made from black arm dna... so is it him being over dramatic or what?

0:56 I'm sorry, but Karen Strassmen's political views are not worth firing her over, you can disagree with someone without calling them a monster and assuming the absolute worst about them. She's never done anything wrong to anyone, never done anything inappropriate, has never said anything offensive, her views are not a crime and she merely liked some tweets.
I've seen her in interviews and she's friendly and very professional, people want her gone simply for thought crime.
There's people out there I disagree with and I don't think they should be fired over it.

What’s the issue with rouge va? Think I heard something bad about her but not sure what exactly.
I think there was some stuff about her being anti-vax, though for me mainly it's just that her impression as Rouge just....isn't Rouge, she comes off more as obnoxious than a charismatic little devil who simply does what she does best, and Kathleen and especially Lani Minella nail it far better
The thought police want her fired because years ago she liked some tweets involving anti vax, supporting Trump and a few others, her views do not hurt anyone and they are not worth firing her over.
I've seen her in interviews and she's friendly and very professional.
