Thanks so much, Shanoxxa! It's weird to move the Red Light District as it's been an inherent part of the city forever. The locals are also not proponents of this decision, which says a lot about the people in charge.
@@joenandamalie Tourists usually are not used to legal drug use and legal open prostitution, and because of this some tourists can behave very disrespectful and immature because they think they are in adult disneyland and just let themselves go. So I understand why they want to relocate the prostitution to outside of the tourist area. As a Dutch, I say: if it is better for the women, then I think it is a good decision. They are people who are trying to do a job, and it is a physical and potentially dangerous job, so it is important that their safety is prioritized. I don't think there's anything wrong with prostitution, but only if that means that the women are prioritized to the maximum extent. And tourists are not always the most respectful clients. They see these women as a prop or a funny object. I don't like that. They're just people doing their job. So moving them more outside the tourist zone is better, I think. :) Also, the city wanting to emphasize culture is a good thing, I think. Personally, when I think of Amsterdam, I don't think of weed or prostitution. I think of the arts - Rembrandt or Van Gogh or Frans Hals, or Vermeer, and many many more of the great Dutch masters you can see on display. The Dutch traditions in the fine arts are much more symbolic of the Netherlands than weed or the red light district, for me. I like smoking weed now and then don't get me wrong, but it's just a drug. And the red light district is just a little street where prostitution is available lol. I value those liberties, but I always think its a shame people make these things out to be the main event when Amsterdam has an immense collection containing many of the great masterpieces of history, which are unique. So I definitely understand why the city wants to emphasize culture more to its visitors, given that it has so much to offer in this regard (definitely more than wax statues at Madame Tussauds) and I support it! :) Glad you had fun in Amsterdam! :) Really enjoyed your video :)

@@joenandamalie There are very few people outside of Amsterdam who like being there. Everything that makes Amsterdam pretty like the houses and the canals you can find in a lot of other smaller Dutch cities. But there without overcrowding and overpricing. Apart from that I do not consider Amsterdammers in general as very nice people. And I have some friends there! Furthermore, a city like The Hague for example is mucher greener and far more livable with parcs, forrests, dunes and the coastline with beaches. A city like Maastricht is far more quaint and Delft far more cosy. Amsterdam has a lot.... what's wrong with society; socially and culturally. And I'm not saying that just because it's the capital city. Lisbon is a capital city but far safer!
@@TheLexy131313 Oh come on! What pettiness! Do not generalize your own narrow perspective to the rest of (Dutch) humanity! The secret of getting to know The Netherlands is diving into history by looking to paintings of the Dutch golden age. (Still-lives, portraits, SEA-SCAPES (unbelieveble). By that you get a sense of the republican atmosphere (first republic in Europe : a federal state that offered the power to a non- royal civil society) still remaining to this day...

This is so messed up and classLESS. No, Amsterdam is not synonymous with the red light district! If one is low class sleaze perhaps. Amsterdam is full of history, beautiful architecture and great restaurants with a global influence. People don't want the noise 24/7 that tourists bring in the red light district. people do need to sleep. Very selfish of people around the world not to realize this. That's why they moved the red light district to the periphery of the city.

Amsterdam is dead in the party environment...many reasons...but the city is nice and hangouts are good and even living there) is nice...
From Madeira to Amsterdam, you guys rock!! Most fun couple and I do recommend a future spot, what do you think about Geneva? 🤔
That mayor seems to be a partypooper.

Imagine every time you leave ur house ur hit with the stank of weed
After covi 19 Ansterdam got tired as a city,i rember Amsterdam from 2006 till 2018 very lively
yep...like most great places in Europe, they're so badly affected with Covid lockdowns and restrictions, which is really sad 😥
GladI travelled when I did … was so much fun before pandemic
Living in the Netherlands my whole life and I avoid Amsterdam like the plague!
Haha, really?? Why? It's fun to go there once in a while, no?
Of course you have every right not to like 'Amsterdammers in general' (as if there is such a thing as 'Amsterdammers in general'; people in Amsterdam are individuals, like people everywhere), but I suspect those mythical 'Amsterdammers in general' would say the same about you (if they even existed).
@@gerrylanter8109 They exist! Nice individuals in Amsterdam! A few! 😉 Worked there for three years or so. Seems I hit a nerve there 😅🤣 My friends from Amsterdam just laugh about my crap. Maybe you should too. Would be better for your bloodpressure.

The tourists were really nice. Talked to a guy from Romania with a tennis shoe company trying to get a visa to sell his brand in the US
Haha!
It's a ridiculous statement. Amsterdam is the most vibrant city I have ever seen. Incredible.

Moscow is better now and so much cheaper

The secret of getting to know The Netherlands is diving into history by looking to paintings of the Dutch golden age. (Still-lives, portraits, SEA-SCAPES (unbelieveble).
By that you get a sense of the republican atmosphere (first republic in Europe : a federal state that offered the power to a non- royal civil society) still remaining to this day...

Everything in Amsterdam is crazy expensive
Lucky man shes got a great body
Amalie i just wanna go to Portugal to buy Joen a DRINK.... Joen was a bit funnier after 5 glasses of wine....Joen, you can't even drink a beer?.....LOL.
Amsterdam south is not the periphery.
