To answer Tiff's questions regarding Mr Bones's lungs, inhalation, etc: he's not really all bones. It's just his skin and organs are transparent. His skin is also covered in cyanide!
Got in trouble again at work laughing my ass off at Clark's bitter reaction to Batman's little victory!! "I can get money! Give me your money!!" "I KEEP THE EARTH ON ITS AXIS EVERY GOD DAMNED DAY, AND I DON'T MUDER YOU ALL FOR IT" I love you guys..
So, Triple H has fought Ryan Reynolds in Blade, screwed people in the DC Universe, and held the WWE World Heavyweight Title over 9 times. Dude is a Mad Lad.
These stories are the stories of my childhood. I loved all of it. Now the constant changes DC makes on an almost 2 year basis is crazy. But I loved this as a kid. This brings me back to those days flipping through the comics rack in my local drug store. All backed by nostalgia, I know, but oh so good to me.
If "Millennium" is DC's "New Coke," I wonder what the couch would think of "BLOODLINES!!!," which would obviously be "Mountain Dew Code Red." Also: insert joke about Will Smith's "Willennium" here.
Y'know, I used to have absolutely no goddamn clue what the hell you guys were talking about, and honestly I'm pretty sad that I know who the hell razorsharp is now. Ignorance really was bliss.
A forgettable story and without a doubt: a product of its time. lol. On the flip side: Bloodlines made for yet another outstanding episode of Back Issues 🤣
What's the origin of "Pie Face?" Hal gave Tom the nickname Pie Face during the 1960s era because Tom is an Inuit (or as they called them back then - an Eskimo) and Hal thought he looked like the kid on the "Eskimo Pie" box. Eskimo Pie was a brand of chocolate covered ice cream treats. Nowadays, Hal just calls him Tom, and they like to pretend none of that other stuff ever happened.
They call him pie face cuz of good ol fashioned 50's racism. When Hal 1st meets Tom and finds out he's an Eskimo, he says "The only Eskimos I know are Eskimo pies. So I'll call you pie face."
@@DavidTSmith-jn5bs nah. Eskimo has been used as a derogatory term. www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2016/04/24/475129558/why-you-probably-shouldnt-say-eskimo
Mr. Bones was a popular character featured in Infinity Inc.. Infinity Inc. got screwed over by the Crisis wiping out their JSA Legacy. They must have been trying to fit Mr. Bones in somewhere. He' still hanging around the DECU.
* _After being introduced to about a two dozen characters already_ * Tiffany: "How many more characters are we going to meet?" Sal: "About *_30_* " Me: *PogChamp* The Back Issues episode was fantastic! This book is *_baaaaaad_* though.
I nearly choked when Tiffany ask if Wally speaks louder, just because he doesn´t know how to speak a language, and by the way why can´t wally who is a flash learns super fast how to speak another language, he was the flash he could do that.
Tiffany's reactions to the Occult characters appearing were perfect. Lmao. And geniune question did the name Martian Manhunter come before the Lantern Manhunters or after? Like who was the OG Manhunter J'onn or the Lantern Robots?
Lovechild of Spawn and Black Terror, Mr. Bones was a character created 4 of 5 years too early, had he been been around between 91-94 he'd would have his own movie franchise today.
I only heard of Millennium because of a dollar issue I picked up last year. It was on a banner atop "Secret Origins of Floronic Man and Guardians of the Universe"
Actually, I know this video was made a couple years back, but just to counter what Sal said Fluronic Man did become a member of The New Guardians. Like he might've left but he definitely was there at the start.
Because they're pre established characters and actually matter. The best and worst part of the new age of heroes is that they don't matter. It means it don't have to bother us when reading books we want to read, but it means no one will care because those characters aren't important
Last year I was reading Byrne’s Superman and got to the tie in and was like wtf most of Smallville are manhunters how is I’ve never known about this. So excited to watch this
Oh, I was wondering what happened in this book. All I knew about it is how the event affected the 80's Suicide Squad(Nightshade Odyssey book) I have. That and Millenium is responsible for the "New Guardians" book which is responsible for SNOWFLAME. The villain that gets his power from cocaine. I love AT4W. Now to listen to you guys.
I swear, whenever I think you guys couldn't possibly have covered a story... I find out you already did. I also love how this came out before Secret Invasion, but I love that it comes off like a half assed rip off of Secret Invasion.
They mentioned Grayson and showed an image on the show. They can no longer deny doing an entire Dick Grayson-centric book on Back Issues. C'MON COMIC POP!!!! WE DEMAND MORE DICK
Love this show. I binge it at work everyday. Random Q but have you guys ever read Invincible by Kirkman? Personally I think its the best continuous story I've ever read in comics. No stupid reboots(almost but they didnt do it) and the writing remains consistently great until just before the ending where he kinda rushed everything together. I'd love to see a episode of back issues on it if you guys liked the story
ComicPOP I mean I hate useless tie ins, but sometimes understanding that some tie ins that have story impact, but also have a multi book promotional ideal. Someone just reading Batman might read millennium(( or hopefully a better event.)) because of a tie in or might be reading the event and read books they weren’t reading before because of said tie in.
I know it's funny to be flippant, and yeah, the story has problems, but credit has to go to how closely knit they made the continuity. In fact, like the checklist says, you read each issue then all of the tie-ins, to really enjoy it.
Just came across this video definitely late to this 😂 😂 but I own all the individual issues of millennium week 1-8 and all tie in issues from each week lol
Anyone else thinking about a Guardian running around smacking Manhunters and Lanterns in the face with a sledge hammer then crotch chopping over them? Nope? Just me? Well... crap.
I got one issue of this series in a comic book grab back (back in the day 10 issues for real cheap but you didn't know of what...and I never knew what the real story was. Now I do...and...meh.
Sal, how did you leave out that the New Guardians goal is to breed, thus creating the next step in evolution and the future of the DC universe???.....Oh wait they didn't do anything with that because it all sucked...except for SNOWFLAME!

All this time I thought he was all bones...
30:14 I can LEGIT feel Tiffany's anger, and Ben's fear/confusion of Tiffany thru the screen.
Batman: quick guy! Stop the joker before he attacks robin!
Guy: but what if this violence begets more violence.
Batman: I HATE YOU GARDNER!
I get way too happy when a Back Issues is posted.
No such thing as being too happy for back issues.

HE'S GOING OVER
Also was defeated by the mystery machine gang 😂
And now is killing it as head of creative .
Tom Kalmaku was played by Taika Waititi in that dreaded Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern movie, by the way...
...that did happen didn’t it
Sal, I was one second away from mentioning the New Frontier moment when you brought up Tom/Pieface but you beat me to it. Good on you sir!
"Yay Superman!"
"Thanks Jimmy"
Hilarious

Tiff rocking the hat and getting shocked at all the magic characters appearing in this books is great.

The closest we'll ever get to seeing snowflame mentioned on back issues. Already one of my favorite episodes now.
What's the origin of "Pie Face?"

Ben's "I'm fine with the plant man, he seems on the level" line really got me for some reason haha.
@19:05 thats why I watch you guys. That shit had me crying at work.
Lovin’ the hat Tiff!!

So if Tom was Hispanic would Jordan call him Taco face
seeing Tiff wearing the hat made me think, "what, it's Halloween already??? wait... ohhhh..."
love the hat anyway, and the episode too... 👍👍👍👍👍
48:27 plus Ben's laugh 😂
Mr. Bones was a popular character featured in Infinity Inc.. Infinity Inc. got screwed over by the Crisis wiping out their JSA Legacy. They must have been trying to fit Mr. Bones in somewhere. He' still hanging around the DECU.
They tried big time last year during Infinite Frontier!
Crazy thing is the shade given to infinity inc, Outsiders, Tera and geoforce but in the new Young Justice, they actually made them great 😂
Tiffs reactions were the best whenever a JLD character showed up.
This episode was a delight. Made a bad work day so much better!
Tiff rockin the hat. Also ComicPOP, please more Spider-Man PS4 videos please, PRETTY PLEASE?
Loved this episode y’all! Tiffany’s hat is pretty darn epic, I could never look that awesome wearing one, lmao.
There was actually a story about the third army where the guardians go crazy and try to kill everyone
Long-time GL reader here. "Pie-Face" comes from the fact that Tom Kalmaku is an Eskimo.....Eskimo Pie.....hence, Pie-Face…
thats so much worse then the round face thing
What makes it worse is he could never actually enjoy pie...due to his crippling diabetes...😄
I was not prepared for 30:14. Wow.
* _After being introduced to about a two dozen characters already_ *
Tiffany: "How many more characters are we going to meet?"
Sal: "About *_30_* "
Me: *PogChamp*
The Back Issues episode was fantastic! This book is *_baaaaaad_* though.
Just clocked out and this little joy is right here waiting for me....you guys n gals are the best CP
So, this is basically the Seinfeld of comics events? An event about nothing. lol
Except it has an end.
Whaats the deal with all these new heroes??
I nearly choked when Tiffany ask if Wally speaks louder, just because he doesn´t know how to speak a language, and by the way why can´t wally who is a flash learns super fast how to speak another language, he was the flash he could do that.
Blue Beetle was savage😂😂😂😂
Tiffany's reactions to the Occult characters appearing were perfect. Lmao. And geniune question did the name Martian Manhunter come before the Lantern Manhunters or after? Like who was the OG Manhunter J'onn or the Lantern Robots?
MM brings that up in this book!
@@comicpop Lol as well he should. Like "Hey! Thats my badass nickname!"

Thats hilarious just imagine 😁😂
Superman: Hey hey we're in right
Everyone else: Alright
I only heard of Millennium because of a dollar issue I picked up last year. It was on a banner atop "Secret Origins of Floronic Man and Guardians of the Universe"
And Jason Woodrue can now be called "The Barren," due to the events of those Swamp Thing Giants from Walmart. That's a whole lotta Floronic.
It’s awesome that Tiff knows this fact : “they’re salmon?!”
“I don’t know. Ask an attractive person.”
Dude. That’s your wife right there.
Don't worry about it.
This was a good episode... just like every episode.
Been waiting on this. I have the spectre tie in to this and never knew what to do 6 with it
Actually, I know this video was made a couple years back, but just to counter what Sal said Fluronic Man did become a member of The New Guardians. Like he might've left but he definitely was there at the start.
Take a shot every time Sal says “pie face”
The New Age of Heroes maybe mostly dead...BUT THE TERRIFICS HAVE BEEN GOING STRONG SINCE ISSUE #1
amen

I'm here, cause it's recently been referenced.
Love the DC events. Cannot wait to see some of the other ones you haven't done yet.
On vacation alone in the hotel to watch this after my gf broke up w me, this soothing my sadness lol
so looking forward to the battle with the new guardians and snowflame
Tiffany's hat made me click the link.
FYI Harbinger does change her mind in one of the tie ins and joins the New Guardians after all
I laughed really hard several times during this episode. This event was so damn bad it became good.
Tom's name is "PieFace" because he's an Eskimo.
Oh, I was wondering what happened in this book. All I knew about it is how the event affected the 80's Suicide Squad(Nightshade Odyssey book) I have. Sal should do a "Top Gun" Back Issues and try to explain all the call signs to Tiffany. "Why is he called Maverick, he doesn't look like a horse!".
While the story may not be #TiffyFresh, that hat certainly is.
I swear, whenever I think you guys couldn't possibly have covered a story... I find out you already did.
I also love how this came out before Secret Invasion, but I love that it comes off like a half assed rip off of Secret Invasion.
So is this book what sets the theme of the guardians consistently and repeatedly being wrong and bad at planning literally anything?
I thought the Oans DID try another idea, using Volthoom's power to form the third army. I think even after rebirth, it's still in continuity.
They mentioned Grayson and showed an image on the show. They can no longer deny doing an entire Dick Grayson-centric book on Back Issues. C'MON COMIC POP!!!! WE DEMAND MORE DICK

tiffany is so good looking. I love episodes that she in. really liked when she took the lead in the eternals episode.
Just came from the twitch stream
Pretty sure "Pieface" is a racial slur that DC ended up being embarrassed about. I think Tom is an Eskimo.
I love back issues on these forgettable DC events from the 80s and 90s
WOW. I've always been curious about this book and have been tempted to buy it. Now... not so much
I need Tiffany's entire outfit in my closet like yesterday. She's giving me serious witchy vibes.
Thank you!
AHS coven vibes
Captain Atom is actually a Colonel in the USAF
So Sal has never realized that there are lots of tie ins that are important. It’s a book wide crossover.
You're mistaking having a problem with tie ins for not understanding their role. But we did explain that in the episode.

Todd McFarlane did design and co-create Mr. Bones so yeah.

The Suicide Squad crossover in this event is very good
