"However, know that time you are putting into that (company) is time taken away from building your own thing for the future" - Remarkable point!

I love all your videos, you're not only a great teacher but a great person; you do know how to encourage people. I'm very new to teaching English online and I see the main problem is not getting to teach for a company or teaching on your own, but I see the main problem is getting students and getting yourself out there so people know you're there, that's the hardest part since there is a surplus of teachers, and on top of that we have almost everything free these days: videos, articles, lessons, apps; and it's almost impossible to even start making money :/ And yes, I'm "working" for a company well it's not actually working, it's one of those freelance sites where you need to get your students, and also I haven't even got my first student yet for the reasons I already stated above, so you get my point :P

It's a new thing for me. May I request you to practice with me for few minutes. I haven't started any class yet. I signed up on Zoom too. I watched RUclips videos about Zoom too. Please agree. Kindly send me an invitation on hzadeducationnomsa@gmail.com

What it comes down to is how you want to set up your income streams.
Do you want to have all your eggs in one basket by working at just one company?
Having all your eggs in one basket has its pros and cons, but here are the biggest cons:
    - Having no backup plan or other source of income leaves you with little to no negotiation leverage should a company implement strict rules or guidelines that you don't agree with. (for example, scheduling policies, rates, and regulations)
    - Companies don't have to give you an explanation for firing you so being let go is always a possibility.
    - You're in less control of your client pipeline. As a freelancer, you can open the spigot and find more clients with a variety of techniques (lower rates, increase marketing, collaborate for exposure).

6:07 but who cares when they are a foreign company that you've already left? They can't actually hold you to it at that point.

Thank you for the video I'm not sure on where to start I've been applying to companies but I've realized their not all good and or organized even with the application process. I think I would start to do both like what you said in the video but yeah it might take more patience that's for sure.

A starting point for you would be knowing the difference between "their" - "they're" and "there - It is appalling how many Americans want to teach, but have such mediocre skills in their native language. I am French and frequently hired as a contractor to proofread Americans' written content before publishing. Of course, you may call me a rude French person for commenting. However, if you are honest with yourself, you'll do the introspection instead

A question, what qualifications are recommended for starting an online teaching gig/how do you establish your credibility as an online teacher if the students can't actually see you or the qualifications themselves?

Do students judge "book by its cover"? Is there a particular physical attributes they are looking for in an ENG teacher before they log in? This always puzzles me.

Hi I am currently looking to build a business aimed at the Bejing market. I am finding your vids extremely informative but am unsure how far "Lead pages" for example will go to tap into that market.
I can see that there are different search engines in China but obviously advertising on search engines like Baidu are going to be way out of my league financially. I am planning to go live as a business in the UK in March I am done most and doing this on a very very tight buget is there anyway I could have a chat with you personally?
    Regards Alison

Hi there. I work for an online company just a few hours a week, to get experience with online teaching (and have had a great experience there, by the way). I am looking for a platform to teach privately online as I have several regular students that want to learn online. I tried a demo class with zoom, and while the connection was stable it was awkward with the screen sharing and pen function mostly. Do you have any suggestions as far as what to use for group classes with children? Skype is too unstable where I live (China). Also, my students here can't use Google.

I want to avoid companies such as DADA and VIPKID etc because they just want you to be a kids entertainer rather than an actual teacher. Does anyone know any Business English companies online or any good companies that don't rob you off where you can create your own profile? I would avoid classgap because the second time around they did rob me off and told me when I made 48 euros that I couldn't have it until I made 50 euros and then when I did another class to get that money they took the whole amount so I would avoid this company.

Exactly I've watched videos by teachers for vipkid or gogokid and it's like a children's TV show all the smiling is weird and over done... Also I prefer to work with adults less of that dramatic teaching...

Hey! I work for Tutor ABC...I like everything about it except the pay. Very flexible, guaranteed classes, you get paid even if the student doesn't show...Of course the pay is a big deal! There is no opportunity for raises and the pay is one of the lowest in the business. So, pick your poison!

Hi. I am thinking of purchasing your course: HOW TO BECOME AN ONLINE TEACHER. By learning the tech bits with you, plus the videos how to build my audience.... when I finish the course with you, how do I upload the subject I'll teach to my student(s)? Downloading them from U tube, Espresso English.... ? Or this is illegal?
