That happened to me on a job interview. They asked me for a teaching demo; a 75 minute demo. I ended up TEACHING a whole class and I later learned that I was teaching for a teacher who asked for a day off. One of the students at that school is an acquaintance of my wife’s friend. I later told my wife what happened and she told her acquaintance. The student later quit the school and end up signing up with me as his teacher.

Thanks again Jack - you remain an inspiration for me and an example. I was going to step into that very trap of offering first free lessons, but now they're so definitely absolutely NOT going to be free ha ha. How about $3 - even the stingiest of people would be able to afford that and if they do not like me then well - they would only have lost $3. Thank you for saving me form your Valencia cafe experience. Please keep those videos coming!! And never doubt yourself Jack - you have many more fans than you think!!

Great advice which I'll use when doing administration payment and invoices first before lessons.

Jack it is normal to ask for payment upfront because afterwords they won't pay

almost everything you have said is so relatable and exact to my daily experience that it's almost eerie. Your advice could be a daily dose of inspiration for all fellow teachers.

Hey! I hope this message finds you in good health. My question is when you try to find new clients, are you translating your ad into your learners languages?

Just discovered your channel, enjoying it. I a Brit but based in Berlin, just an hour behind you in the UK. I walk and talk with my Business English learners, to give their bodies and brains a 'fit in English' workout. Take care now

Hi Jack. I have a question. How can you avoid this situation?: A student pays you for 5 classes through Paypal and after you give him the classes he blocks you on Skype, he contacts PayPal and tells them you never gave him the lessons! Paypal then makes him a full refund and you find out you have taught hours for free! You contact Paypal and tell them you did give the classes but they don;t believe you cause you have no proof. How can you prove you actually gave the lessons? Are you allowed to record the classes without the student's permission? This situation hasn't happened to me and I know it is very unlikely to happen, but you never know how crazy and ungrateful people can be. How can I prevent this? Thanks

you can take a screenshot that you texted with the student and file away.

Wise words, Jack. There'll always be one or two who take the piss, but it's still a great job.

How about connected to platform for online teaching. Student pay the trial lesson, but do not get even a cent. Pain the ass, huh! What to do?

Paypal. I've not had problems with refunds. Set out some terms, however, to protect you.
