      People are just terrible sometimes. If someone ever said to my face that they’d like to kill my girls for their snake I’d kick them out. I love snakes but some people can be just so cruel

      I love both snakes and rodents, but man is that screwed up. I imagine these people would change their tune pretty quickly if someone else commented "I'd love to feed your snake to my cat/dog". Just because they're rodents and they don't live as long as other species doesn't mean their life and companionship are worth less.

    I used to have quite a few snakes, royal pythons, corn snakes, Cape House snakes and Western hognose. I absolutely love that egg eaters seem to be getting easier to source as I've always wanted one, if I ever got snakes again it would be an egg eater. Rue is beautiful!

    Awh she's lovely 🥰 I'm definitely with you on the rodent eating snake thing, as much as I love snakes I couldn't emotionally cope with feeding rodents to them myself, I may end up getting an egg eater in the future though, or an insectivore perhaps, but I love rodents way too much to be able to feed them to a snake. Don't get me wrong, snakes have to eat too, I just don't think I could do it personally

    • @teijaflink2226
      @teijaflink2226 2 года назад +1

      I don't see any problem with it specially considering how fast and often rodents breed as long as you keep them in an enriched environment (as rodents are intelligent). But I couldn't personally do it either even if I loce snajes but I couldn't look at dead rodents and even worse live feed

    • @G1itchin.0ut

      @@teijaflink2226 well luckily there’s things for squeamish people or people who just can’t seem to do it called reptilinks. Their basically sausage links for reptiles and they are for all kinds of reptiles so you won’t feel bad about feeding rodents to them and it’s very nutritious for reptiles. Hope this helps! 😁😁

    I have three rodent eating snakes (corn snake, royal python and a western hognose). I got them before I got rats, and knowing what I do about rodent mills, I’d never get another. I will keep my three as they’re here now and have to eat, but when they pass I wouldn’t get more rodent eaters, completely see why you went with an egg eating species! Of course I love my danger noodles, but as my awareness has grown I’ve been more uncomfortable

I was also the 4 year old who wanted to hold boa constrictors lol, once at an animal rescue place they had a big snake, and I was the only one of my friends who wanted to pet the snake and hold it. All the other kids ran away or watched from a distance heh.

    Have to laugh at the timing of this a little! My whole life I've had a debilitating snake phobia - I'd throw my phone across a room if I scrolled past a photo of one, scream and start panic sobbing in public if I saw a wild one (in my small town garter snakes were everywhere), and I couldn't even walk past the reptile section in a pet store. Just a few weeks ago my friend had me over and (carefully) forced me to meet her python Jasper. By the end of the afternoon he was chilling in my lap, and I was so smitten! And just as I shed this phobia, my favourite pet youtuber gets a lil noodle?! I would just love to boop that snoot. I shall live vicariously through you until I have the confidence to own one myself! 😍😂

    • @KarmaKittyTs
      @KarmaKittyTs 2 года назад +3

      @@Emiology yeah definitely a strange thing that happens , I’ve also noticed that.
      But snakes and their owners have a huge stigma around them , and I think that’s the main issue. I have been asked if I was worried my snake would eat my rabbits or my dogs … my snakes are a California kingsnake and a Pueblan milkSnake , So no I have no worries. Lol
      Honestly my rabbit , Piper , is more of a threat to the snakes lol. She can be vicious …. But I love her.
      A lot of people keep pets that are predator and prey in the same house and no one really cares if you house them both responsibility. But basically people only seem super concerned and worried if it’s a snake and any rodent in the same house, no matter how safe and responsibility kept both animals are people always seem concerned (Obviously not all people !! But I have just noticed and experienced a handful of weird interactions and heard stories from other keepers)

    My son had a ball python because of a boy scout project that ended up becoming mine when he left the house. Her name was Harrietta from Harry Potter because originally her enclosure was in a room under the attic stairs. My son had been doing live feedings that I just could not deal with, so have switched her to non-live since, but it still weirds me out feeding her tbh. Before this though, she went on a feeding strike while still being fed live, so I ended up with a rat and a mouse a few years ago. The rat ended up being adopted by a friend's child who wanted a pet, but I ended up keeping the little mouse for over a year. He became my work buddy during the pandemic. I still miss him. I called him Mr Moustafalees.

      people replying saying not to get a snake if you dont wanna feed it rodents but... you literally specified an /egg/ eating snake. aka a snake that feeds on eggs not rodents lol, as for feeding snakes rodents frozen mice are generally considered the best way to feed them since the rodents were put to sleep with carbon dioxide so its not painful for them and there isnt any risk of them hurting the snakes so if you got a type of snake that isnt a picky eater you wouldnt have trouble with frozen mice but i understand the discomfort anyway

    I never thought I would even consider having own and taking care of a snake especially because I just love rodents to much to feel comfortable feeding them but Rue is the cutest thing that I may have to look more into egg eating snakes even if I never end up getting one
    (Friends planning on getting a snake but I really didn't really plan on spending a ton of time with it)

    I'm not a fan of snakes but they deserve a good life too. I didn't know that some snakes do not eat rodents. This video was really interesting.❤👍

    I own a Boa Imperator & Ball python! I've gone thru a lot of study about a variety of snakes, but I really don't know too much about egg eaters other than it's incredibly hard to find them food. I'm glad you know what you're doing and you got a snake of adult size, I bet she'll love being with someone who cares so much. And definitely, I for example would love small rodents as pets but I can't since I'll likely always have my snakes in the same room as me... but the egg eating snake should be just fine. Even poop scenting wise, it likely just smells very different. My snakes in a room with rodents would be more of a danger to me, because they'd think it's food time every time i open the cage xD. I almost wanted to get mice so i can safely scent reptilinks so i don't have to buy anymore mice... But alas, the ball python has discovered links don't have the same texture so she refuses them no matter what even when tricks have worked previously. Better just not to get rodents w rodent-specific eaters.

    You know, there’s this company called reptilinks that gives you these sausage links that are for different types of snakes so you don’t have to feed rats or mice but I think they contain it but I’m not sure it’s super nutritious for snakes and other reptiles big and small

      I don’t agree with things like that, I think snakes that eat rodents deserve to have them in the most normal form!

    That's really cool. I really want an egg eating snake but they aren't very popular by me and when I do come across one they are super expensive.
