Part 1 of 2
father was born in Buxton, parents married at St. John's Church. Remember when I was a child the family went to the reunion. Sister. Barbara and her husband worked on committee (s) to preserve the history of Buxton. Very helpful to have this presentation.
Love this video!!! We can do it Again!!!
My Grandfather was born in Buxton, Iowa. My Great Grandfather who was black, traveled there from Virginia looking for work, had a few children there and then left when the work dried up. ❤️
Me and a friend went to Buxton just yesterday. It was very interesting to see. We saw the old railroad storehouse and then the foundation of another building. Plus we saw the old viaduct. There is a farm just across the road (which I’m guessing is private land) and an old house at the end of the road. Hamilton, Bussey, and lovilia are all near to the site. Me and my friend used to live in Pella, about 30 miles north of there
Buxton. Birthplace of father.
I love this Jason nice Job well Done...My grandma Dorothy Buford Jewett her side of the family grew up here as well
I was on the Iowa State archeological dig summer of 1981 under David Gradwohl - the rail station has really fallen down.
Love it
This is my family ❤ Carter/Jewett 🙌🏾
My name is Grant Buxton, my grand father was an indentured servant blacksmith, his son my grandfather Everett was the president of the Kansas city auto workers union, he let the first blacks into the union, Kansas city mafia broke my gpas legs with bats, he was in a wheelchair permanently after that, but he grew up on a Longview plantation (rail road) money and the black slave kids were his only friends. Yup my gramps played a game with the Harlem globe trotters too, I was always told by the Buxton side of my family to be kind to everyone, my mother's side was the exact opposite, I was kicked out when I was 14 for listening to rap, I moved in with my aunt Katherine Ruth Buxton and started working at a go kart track, my ancestors believe in sovereign free men under the great creator! No man can rule over another
