I work on a psych unit and did a fundraiser for them for my 30th birthday. And this is what we used the funds on ❤️ So many of my patients have wanted a piano/keyboard and I present it to them on my birthday on Monday. Fingers crossed!
This is so sweet to hear! I’ve been admitted to a psych unit several times and remember one hospital had an upright piano I played that helped me and others feel at ease there. So this is a wonderful gift for your unit 💜
Why beginner’s? What if I am an advanced pianoplayer looking for a 61-keys keyboard with good action and to interact with my DAW? Preferably not one that eats batteries for lunch.

If I get this keyboard, can use this as a midi keyboard or just run all my sounds through ableton live??? Cause before this whole pandemic happened I passed by guitar center looking for a new midi controller/auxiliary... I just happened to see this keyboard on sale... the internal sounds are okay but the feel of it is what really got to me... so before purchasing this I just wanna know if I can run all my sounds through ableton 10 on it. Also, just wondering, is this semi weighted, weighted, or velocity sensitive???
Yes, you can use it for that! I just bought the bigger version of this a couple weeks ago, the piagerro NP32. I use it for both learning piano as well as composing music. And for both, I use it pretty much exclusively as a MIDI controller. Although the built in sounds are decent, yeah its more fun to use plug-ins/vsts. I use ez keys with studio piano, which uses recordings from a Steinway. Sounds like I got a 10k piano in my home studio now! It's a fully functional MIDI keyboard with excellent, velocity sensitive keys. It works great for electronic music especially. I record in studio one and I've used ableton in the past. You do have to buy a USB cable for it (its MIDI over USB, doesn't have actual midi outs, but works just as good). Its one of those square ones a lot of audio devices use. They're only about 8 bucks on Amazon. Definitely buy the power cord for it, too. You power it on to use the MIDI (USB does not provide power to the keyboard). And just turn the volume on the keyboard to zero when you're using USB and don't want to hear the sound coming out of the piano.
Edward Boot wait so when I run all my sounds through ableton right... will it play through the speakers itself on the keyboard?? Or do I have to get a jack and connect it to a speaker?

what is a key’s width? most of the time the keys width on compact keyboards have smaller keys compared to a piano or digital piano and that messes up with my fingers
Great review, thanks. Looking for options on midi controllers (usb powered, no sounds just ok), but really looking for the semi weighted keys and the quality of digital pianos. @Trekz dumb question, but i have seen people have different sounds from their keyboards like the video "Famous EDM Piano and Synth Riffs" where he has multiple different types of sound but how do i do it on my NP-12 hooked up to my pc?
The piano is terrible. Received it a week ago, sound is great, but you can barely play it because of how light the keys are! The keys really are way too light, making it impossible to play scales and complexe or easy pieces. Do not buy...

Yes! It has a USB B port. So you need a 'USB B to USB C' cable to connect it to your laptop. If you want to connect it to a phone/tablet you need an additional 'USB C to lighting' cable.
