Probably one of the best reviews and demo I’ve seen in awhile on these tubes. Sold me on these keys for a beginner piano. Thank you.
😁👍
A great musician can make a tin can sound orchestral.....this guy is great...
Yeah nice chops. He made that Rhodes sing!
He's good
Yes, I tested this Yahama keyboard today and it didn't sound anywhere near that good, lol.
I have this. I don't regret it at all! I always wanted a keyboard, and this was the one. More than that, Sweetwater is the BEST company to order from! More than courteous!
That little riff at the end just kills me. Oh, wait, this is an ad for the NP-12. I was listening to the talent. He's good!
A very good friend of mine sold me his about a year ago and it has been a blast having it. The piano sound is great and the best is that it's very, very light.
A bang fot your buck!!!
are the keys weighted?
@@ternitamas they are weighted but not that much but they still have sensitivity touch
@@prodkhaos9058 Biggest factor for me--can I press the top of the keys easily? I put my hands higher when playing the black keys, and I injured my hand trying to play a cheap unweighted keyboard this way.
I watched this video to decide whether I'm going to buy this keyboard and this dude has me totally convinced. I want to make the same sort of sweet music as he does!
I fell in love with this keyboard the moment I first saw it. The simple design and the sound quality is totally my thing. However I'm a pure beginner. I ended up getting EZ-220 instead, which teaches me how to play. Look forward to the NP series when I can upgrade! :)
I m thinking as well on those two!! how is the nz? I would like in any case to connect the keyboard to my android tablet to read the notes or use Syntesia but it looks it is not supported?
(It's EZ not NZ.) You're right. It only works with Apple iPad. If you don't have an ipad, I don't think it'd be worth it to buy one just for pairing with the keyboard... Basically, EZ has a teaching system with lots of functions (I doubt I'd bother to learn most of the them). NP has a better touch and sound. If I were a non-beginner, I would definitely choose np over ez.
The ez-220 actually has a better piano sound than the np12.....
I don't know why some people think you have to have 88 weighted keys to be "proper". This is a fantastic instrument. So is Casio's CTX line.
I think they say it for chores and stuff, but I guess for beginners this keyboard is fantastic! Im a beginner myself. The only reason why I want to start Piano is because of "Joe Hisaishi". His music is so beautiful I want to play it myself!! :)
@Arthur Morgan, Formerly 4th Chairman lol piano noobs at work
It gives u a larger range of keys and i think about 2 more octaves. Also, thry are much more expensive as 88 keys is the amount of keys on a piano, giving ut a more realistic look and feel. Weighted keys also gives a more realistic feel to the keyboard like a piano, making it again, more expensive. So i believe the 61 key piano is great for beginners and when you're starting to play more difficult songs that have a bigger range, start looking for the 88 key one
The arguement for the whole 88 weighted keys thing is that you want to teach/learn in conditions that are as similar to learning on a piano as possible, so bad habits don't form and the skills are easily transferable. It's mostly used by people with the view that you should only ever get a keyboard if circumstances prevent you from getting or using a piano, which I find absurd. I will admit, the weighted keys can feel nice though :o)
Edit: Spelling
@@SipsNumberOneFan as a piano player of 28 years i can say the concept is still the same between a piano and a keyboard, the only difference is you're pressing a little harder on a piano, complicated pieces can be played just as easily on a 61 key keyboard as they can on a piano, a 61 key keyboard challenges you to be a better musician because you don't have the extra keys to use as a crutch therefore forcing you to become familiar with chord inversions and thinking outside the box
I purchased this keyboard for my studio. Im into reggae and none of my Motif spin offs have the pollifany of this one. I have a Korg D32 multitrack recorder and no need for a DI box. These newer keyboard with speakers automatically adjust the volume my Yamaha DD75 with speakers has the same concept. Any genre these pianos and other sounds are lively. Bro I have been listening to him play for like 40 minutes now just rewinding to the demo
Yamaha NP series pianos are just simplified PSR models, AMAZING piano sound........
Kenilworth
youve done the best demo for this keyboard. thanks and congrats!!!
Really loved this review! I also really loved the different styles you played for each "voice/tone."
With those magic fingers any keyboard sounds like a profesional piano! 😎 Great job!
Thanks you 🙏🏾
I record my own music i bought this for the sound quality couldnt care less about the rest of it. There are still some of us that dont like the whole computer based studios needs to be more affordable, simple, great sounding gear leave out all the cheap useless noise and focus on one or two high quality sounds that you dont mind double tracking .
I picked up one of these secondhand for 90 quid absolutely love it I have to admit the keys need a clean I think the original owner picked their nose that aside it plays great. I'm a guitarist really but own a few Yamaha guitars which are exceptionally high quality, so simply went with a yamaha keyboard.
This instrument has held up under critical scrutiny after being run in stereo through house p.a. impeccable.
Beautiful sounding instrument...
I’ve owned a Yamaha portable grand and it’s been kicking out fun for fifteen years. Working on road would love to stick this in my back pocket.
Still a great review, especially since despite there being upgrades on these N.P.'s available, there are still recommendations for exactly this NP12!
After hearing the “piano” sounds from this keyboard- I’m SOLD‼️😎
same! Sounds beautiful
Erskine. Is. Fabulous.
4 real.
As a beginning this is just what I needed
Nice playing & best review I've seen on this by far.
Thanks for this awesome review!!
Thank you for this review! This is really helpful.
What a bloody fine player.
Great review, man. I want to learn to play the piano but I have a low budget. I might buy this one. Thanks!
Andrei Celmare have you got it
@@garagebandbeatsios1722 Yeah, it's good.

@@gjeraldh2989 do you like it?
@@andreicelmare3426 hey man, I'm thinking about getting a keyboard too, does it have weighted keys and touch sensitivity? Also, is the key size full size key (big like piano key)? Will really appreciate it if u can give a me a reply.
Can anyone tell me the name of the last piece he plays? It has a great vibe! I'd love to listen to the full song! Great playing, man!
Great sound. Very helpful. Thank you.
Ok I'm buying this
lovely playing & info' !
For starters, even for me its good enough to practice on !
Awesome review, thanks for the details so many people miss. How do you record the keyboard digitally
Through midi
Hello
I have a yamaha piaggero np11
please tell me if you can make a transposition of an octave below
and how to do it?
thank you
love your review... giving serious consideration
Este review provoca escucharlo varias veces. Gran tecladista.
Thank you for such a well explained review, God bless you
I am between the np12 and the e363. Both of them sound really great and I love them, however I dont know which one should I choose. I am more interested in sound quality and the touch sensitive keys. Which one should I buy and why? "I can only spend 200$ for my first keyboard, as a beginner"
Bro just get the np-12, if you have a little more money you could even get the np-32
Both sound the same but im a pianist and have try it out myself np12 and yes they sound the samw grand piano just np12 sound more resonant likw soundboard smoother.
does it need a sustain pedal?
The sustain sounds amazing on this keyboard.
I'm struggling to decide if I buy a cheaper Keyboard, like Casio CTS300 or this one;
me too man, I am still trying to decide and I'm more inclined to get the cts cause I can connect with android devices
Hi Lucas! Which did you go with? I just ordered this one over the Casio CTS300! :x
@@ilovemesomuch. LOL
I bought none, unfortunately.... Covid seriously stroke my pockets, i'll have to delay this purchase to 2022.
but now I'm convinced to get the Piaggero, the sound is amazing.
@@lucasmelo9545 you should check out Casiotone CT-S1
@@damienmachine74 Exactly: do you have direct comparison? So far it's hard to find one online. No such anywhere there. These boths I am thinking of ... Yamaha piano, really sounds like Piano... Church organs also are beautiful. On CT-S1 there is a lot of sounds I do not like ... maybe around 15 are very nice and usefull.
Nice review, big thanks
I'm thinking about one of these as a midi controller, the keys feel way better than a typical synth action style controllers. Is there a way to turn off the speakers?
I looked at the online manual. No, you have to turn the volume down.
That works too, thanks for the effort.
Plug in anything into the line out jack and the speakers will turn off. For MIDI you do not need the sound of the keyboard.
That sounds gorgeous
6:56 name ? Thnx
Nice review. Would also like to know the name of the music at the beginning of the video.
That’s actually just a piece that I made up on the spot
@@erskinehawkins3419 yea that was good. thats how i play as well
@@erskinehawkins3419 i wouldnt get this keybaord though. i'd rather go for a casio ctk, ctx, wk, etc. those have a range of pianos and u can edit them
Thanks. enjoyed.
Erskine!!!!! Bro is this your RUclips or are you part of a group? I was looking for a beginner keyboard (yes I’m finally trying to learn how to play and my kids are getting interested too) and came across this! God Bless you bro. It seems like forever.
VERY helpful thank you!!
So you need to be a power supply as an additional product item?
It does have semi weighted keys
great review
I subscribed after the intro!
I just got this keyboard a few weeks ago and I’m not sure if I just got a defective one but it makes an ugly clicking noise whenever I press the keys. It sounds like I’m playing with long nails but mine are short as I also play guitar and can’t have long nails for that. Any suggestions? Should I return it or get it replaced?
Thank you for the video. Can the recording be downloaded to a sd card or to a computer?
Great demo! Can i connect this to an iPad to use with something like SimplyPiano?
Hi, thanks for your interest! Yes, any of these Yamaha keyboards can be connected to an iOS device. You just need the Apple Camera Adapter: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LightCamera--apple-lightning-to-usb-camera-adapter

Amazing sound
wow, he is amazing.
congrats, you play very well. Am I able to record something and then upload it to the computer?
Is this being heard through internal speakers or direct to digital?
Hi does it take a sustain pedal, great video just starting out with learning the piano and loved your video. Thanks for making it
Yes
Wow you're a great keyboard player sir , is the sound we hear from the keyboard it self or did you connect speakers.
I purchased the Yamaha NP12 about a week ago. When I brought it home I realized that the keys were slightly narrower than those of a conventional piano. The distance measured from the beginning of the 1st key to the end of the 61st key is about one inch (25.4mm) shorter than standard. I brought it back.
So it'd be great for those with smaller hands.
Or kids/teenagers
This is true and takes a little adjustment in hand position.
Thank you so much for this review. I'll consider to buy it. What's the name of the first piece you play? I like it :)
That’s actually just a piece that I made up on the spot
Erskine Hawkins you’re very talented. You should consider playing for your channel if you don’t have another of your own that you already play on. I really enjoyed this video. Thanks man!
Is it possible to save the recorded tunes? Just to get more saved tracks. Thanks.
awesome! thanks!
Hey could somebody explain what he does at 3:44? Is that just an octave shift or is that a transpose feature?
Transpose
Hi I love your playing . May I ask how to record the sound which coming from the speaker ? Thanks!
I am currently using a kawai fs800 from the 80s that i got for free. I was looking for something as an upgrade, but i don't want to spend that much money as i am a complete beginner. This seemed perfect exept for the non weighted keys. Is there something else that you would reccommend in the same price range?
6:56 song?
i wish someone could make a video on how to transpose this keyboard a whole octave
That's the question I have, whether or not you can easily adjust up/down an octave (built in without having to use midi).
@@b.rhodes1342 you can do it directly on the keyboard
I would actually love a 61 key version of the p45... Anyone else?
That's basically what this thing is.....
@@8-biternie944 no weighted keys though. I don't own it--what makes this different from a cheap midiplus 61 keybed?
@@jonathankim1999 inbuilt sounds and speakers
@@jonathankim1999 the keys are not weighted ? I thought it's the good point of this keyboard.....?
Team Zawa I bought it and returned it. It was alright. The keys are better than cheap midi keyboards, but they aren’t a hammer action. On midi keys I had to push down on the board forcibly, like I was playing on a rubber desk. These keys are sort of like typing on a mechanical keyboard in that there is an actuation force, but the weight of your arm should be enough to keep the keys depressed so you don’t have to play with your finger muscles. I’m not sure if you can learn proper form on this, but if you already own another piano or know how to play it, it won’t destroy your form. The sound was awesome, so if you don’t end up using it to practice you can use it to play. If you are gonna buy it, I would buy used. I got mine for 130 dollars, which I think is a steal. I’m not sure if it’s worth 200.
What's the song piece on that intro? I'm new on keyboard. Thanks!
Which keyboard amplifier was used for this recording please ?
the vibraphone sounds so good!
Was the sound coming from the keyboard itself or seperate speakers?
Idk both perhaps
The output was directly recorded using an audio cable
good demo yamaha np 12 beautiful sound,,,small 61 keys,,np32,,,,76 keys very good
I don’t know how to use metronome in « slow time » when I push on, it’s so fast. I’m a new student.
Can anyone tell me how much of a "piano" feel the keys of this thing has?
Thank you!
Hi, thanks for your interest! Great question - the keys on the Piaggero series are not hammer-weighted, and they really don't feel much like an acoustic piano. The action is more like a synth or organ. With that said, the velocity sensitivity and the piano sound are really good on these keyboards for the price, so if you don't have the space and/or budget for an 88-key weighted digital piano, this could be a solid alternative choice! Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me with any further questions!

What are the dimensions on the Yamaha Piaggero NP-12 61 Key Piano? Specifically also how wide is it? And how much (ballpark) does this piano keyboard cost? Thank you.

You mentioned that it can connect with IOS devices, but can it connect to computers to write music on programs such as Finale? Thanks.
Is the space between the keys smaller for small hands?
Get the 76 key version. (It may have been not yet available at the time this video was produced.)
is it semi weighted keys or not at all
You mentioned the keys are unweighted. But Yamaha does say the keys should have "Graded Soft Touch". Did you say the keys are unweighted because it's not noticeable?
It's like synth key. Easy to press, lightweight
ty bro
This piano has a split. And now does the np-32 also have it?
Did I miss it or did you not mention that you can mix sounds together? for example piano+strings
Hi, Leonard! Thanks for your interest. Yes, you can layer two voices together on the Piaggero series. Yamaha calls it a "Dual Voice" in their official nomenclature. For more details, check out Yamaha's complete user manual for the NP-12 and NP-32 at this link:

Maxim Mihailidis p45 has 88 weighted keys so it's better in that way
Can anyone tell me about the adapter he uses in the headphones output.
I have a questions just confirm. Can this piano be used just with electricity? I mean, If I don't have more batteries, can I use it with just the cable connected to the wall (regular electricity)? . I'd appreciate your answer because I need to buy a piano now. And I like this one. But I need to know and confirm that. Please.
Hi, thanks for your interest! Yes, this keyboard can be connected to an electrical outlet rather than using batteries. However, the power supply is sold separately. I generally recommend Yamaha's Survival Kit, which includes a sustain pedal and a pair of headphones, as well as the power supply: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SurvB2--yamaha-survival-kit-b2

Is it possible to use the built in speakers when I plug headphones? I’m asking because if I have a small gig I want to be able to use the built in speakers to monitor myself and still plug to a small PA system.
Hey John! Good question - plugging into that headphone output will indeed defeat the internal speakers on that keyboard. If you wanted to use a monitor along with this unit, you might have to look into running that from the PA system itself. Happy to make alternative recommendations if you need them!
Thanks for reaching out, and be well!

How different is the feel of the keys from an acoustic piano? The number of keys isn't of huge importance, and I don't need a large number of sounds, but the feel of the keys is important.
Hi, thanks for your interest! The keys on the Piaggero series, including the NP-12, aren't weighted and really do not feel like an acoustic piano. The feel is more like an organ or a synth. With that said, they are some of the better-feeling keys in their price point, even though they aren't a great imitation of an acoustic piano. If you do need weighted keys, you might check out the P-121 for something compact with a real piano feel:
