its doable, join a pistol club that does IPSC matches- 9mm and reflex sights are common, and SiGs are def available, theres a few blokes at mine that run them (I don't like em, to wide for small hands. I share Hazards condition there)
@@HairTrigger223 Problem being the less than 120mm barrel length for the clone correct version, unless you have a Cat G licence and get it for collecting purposes, then you can't actually shoot it. Only way to actually build and enjoy a clone correct version would be on a Cat D licence, and at that point the effort makes it no longer enjoyable.

@@thomasarmstrong3917 Nah, i'm an aussie gun owner and you can absolutely still get handguns. The process for handguns takes months and it sucks compared to the U.S, but it is doable if you really want them. Rifles/shotguns are way easier though.

Australia adopted the the FN Hi-Power pistol as the SLP (Self Loading Pistol), 9mm, Mark 3 around 1966. It has been the General Service pistol although HK and Glock pistols have been issued to specific units in small numbers.

We just got some back from service and it features the amazing FEATURE to have the small arms maintainers (who were “trained” to “maintain” small arms. “” ) to install the plunger that is acted on by the extractor spring to retain the extractor backwards.
Fun fact, the out of place extractor can lock up a slide and then fall completely out in your hand during shift change!

My understanding of the drop-safe thing is that very early versions of the 320 re-used the trigger from one of their DAO hammer-fired pistols. And because the 320 has a much lighter pull the trigger was heavy enough to fire if dropped.
This was quickly fixed with a lighter trigger, and ever since it's just been a scapegoat for negligent discharges.
And sig knew about the issues they had, and sold the corrected models to the military, while continuing to offer the bad ones for civilian sales. And offered an "upgrade" to fix the issues, not a recall.
Browning HP will always be the GOAT.

My own p320 is my go to handgun. It’s being built still but I’d love the have an external safety on my handgun… only issue is, the AXG grip module doesn’t have a safety cut

One of the differences between the US military m17 and the civilian p320 m17 edition, is that the military m17 can retain its rear irons even when an optic is attached. This is because on the military version, the rear sight is retained by a Torx screw that goes through the bottom of the slide into the rear optic block.
One possible reason Sig didn't bother making it easy to retain your rear irons when a optic is in play, could be because the Sig Romeo optic has a rear aperture cut into its frame. So even if the electronics go down, you can still aim using the rear aperture cut and the front post. Of course, if you prefer literally any other manufacturer, you're boned.

You should get wood furniture and slap in on a semi-auto M16a1 clone to make the NCR Service rifle and review it. If you don't feel like buying/making it I can loan you mine. I haven't fired mine much, but I have concerns about the wood hand grip being wrapped around the barrel and the rounds being so hot. No one seems to talk about the cons of that weapon.
The ADF also has more "sealed" chsmber with a flared ejection port and mag well

I have a first gen p320 and evey slide, barrel, and grip combo 9/357sig/40.
I also have multiple extra parts in drawers and extra grips on the walls above the drawers lol.
I got it Before the negligent discharge complaints happened.
I got hit on my motorcycle while carrying it, landed on it and slid half a football field.
Chewed up the rear of the slide, grip and mag baseplate, also knocked the rear sight over a bit.
Still works fine i just changed grips and adjusted the rear sight.
I never sent it into sig for the recall
After the negligent discharge stuff was all over social media my girlfriend asked didn't you wreck while carrying that gun lol.
I like the P320; I've EDC'd an M18 for about 3 years now (and by EDC, I mean I actually do go outside on a regular basis). I think, like you said in the video, it seems like the people saying it went off on its own are just trying to cover their own asses when they ND/AD.
This pistol would've won the Emu War.
I've never liked polymer frame handguns, especially now that everything has evolved into a Glock, but the Sig handguns seem alright.

The Hi power has been in service with the ADF since the early 60s, so yeah to say that they're long in the tooth is an understatement (even with replacement tranches over the years).

Emu. I really don't like that the P320 has a fully cocked striker, but doesn't have the nice trigger that is supposed to come with that. It used to, but it came at the cost of safety. Instead of making it a half-cocked system like Gaston's perfection, they kept the full-cocked system, but added stuff that made the trigger worse. And it still didn't make the gun completely safe, allegedly.
The Apex trigger is pretty swell, though. And I wish more companies were comfortable with making beaver tails like the X series grips have. They're cool.

I have the M17 and I put the same TLR-7A light on it, a Holosun optic (that needed an $80 adapter plate that was on 3 mo back order), and recently I put the 5.5” threaded barrel on it. I like it but I really wanted a 226, except those are expensive af.
Exactly what I was thinking. If they had a segment trigger like on the Glock. It would of made the gun more drop safe.

Watching this, I now remember why I tend to stay away from Sigs and stick with either the 1911 or M92 platform. Fairly easy to work on, no major issues in my experience and if a company somehow messes up either of those platforms, you know they done goofed.

Well first off emu second off I know very little about the super technical side of guns but am now 1 year away from being able to own a handgun so channels like yours a very nice to really break into the habit.

I have the P320X Compact model. Its like the XCarry except it has the compact frame instead of the full size so 15 rounds mags. It has the shitty M17 sight system with having to remove the rear sight upon adding an optic. I acquired a plate that had a rear sight afixed to the plate itself that simulates the Sig Pro slide setup. This one also has no external safeties so ride or die. Ive carried it for thousands of hours and ive never had a bullet go through my thigh even while using tight fitting IWB Kydex holsters. SiG just needs to embrace modularity and customization like the Glock platform has because finding upgrades or accessories for it is a pain in the ass. The biggest one I recommend is Wilson Combats grip module for the P320 as it has a thinner grip and thumb grooves if the standard SiG grip is too much.
Rather nice configuration for a service pistol.
...We'll have to see if the Australians have any issues with it.

I too have a Mk27 Mod 2 Clone, tho it’s missing the threaded barrel and correct optics/lights, but it’s close enough… kinda. Just a Black RMR and X300T-B so… it’s close
I feel like sig wants to be the next Colt and make easy cash in the mil supply market and slowly wind down their civilian market offerings to just a handful of options. Also emu.

Everyone knows that emus are weak towards FDE-colored weapon systems with manual safeties. Since this one uses black light and optic attachments, it's suitable for passing by compliant birds and dissuading any that get close with short-term discomfort. (The previous statements are not true to reality and are meant for comedic purposes only. Please respect all wildlife except for invasive species.)
I built myself a custom P320 with a complete Agency Arms upper assembly(2port comp, Gavel slide, DLC threaded barrel, RMR AOS plate), put it on a standalone FCU I got for half price, and put that in the green laser Lima LGM

I went with the p320 compact then swapped out the grip module with the M1811 from Brouwer. Absolutely love it. Currently saving to get an Aimpoint ACRO for it. Great for engaging Emus

As someone who wants to clone service pistols and game pistols but is too broke (for now) i would love to see more of these. It gives me more motivation to start. (First build on the list is a Barry Burton samurai edge)
Agency arms does make a segmented trigger for the p320 and it ain’t half bad. Would be a lot cooler if it was the standard trigger tho.

I like the idea of this. I would carry this. I’m personally not concerned with the optics cut. So I guess I would just get an M18 and buy a Xcarry with a safety cut. Emu!
Current ADF personnel here. My only handgun experiences in the forces were the Browning HP and the USP Match Pro when I moved up in the world. It took about 20+ years of begging to switch from our WW2 pistol to something that worked. However we immediately swapped to the MCX as a PDW when it was offered. Go figure. The armory is sorta like a backrooms environment - if you look hard enough you can find anything.
I like the m17 I need to get me one when I leave the military I love playing around with it

I was very surprised we finally replace the BHP, for the longest time I thought the Hi Power was a necessary stupid filter the ADF deliberately kept in service for that role alone.

Nice, I've got two M17 320s myself so I know the stupidity of trying to make a build out of 'em. Ones in a Raider chassis and the other I've set up in a Brouwer M1811 grip module which, imo, is just soooooo much better than the base P320 M17 grip.

The Glock 45 not being in .45 is a shame, but it retains the emu-table track record with the 22 not being in .22lr, the 25 not being .25 auto, the 30 not being in .30 Luger, the 32 not being in .32 ACP or French Long, the 40 not being .40 S&W, the 44 not being anything .44 caliber or the 46 not being in .460 Rowland.
