It appears a lot of people didn't like the music choice.. I'm sorry ^^
I wanted to do something different!
I'm also sorry for the quality of some footage, it was not easy to find all the visual effects feature.

Next we want best editing, sound editing , sound mixing and best original song

Can you do a compilation of Best Visual Effects from 1980 to 1999?
Haha "boy am I glad there wasn't a fourth episode of Lord of the Rings" 🤣🤣🤣
That was funny
It doesn't need a fourth episode
Well the Lord of The Rings ends in de Third book but there are more books from Tolkien
@@mixedmedia330 Are you not understanding on purpose ?
Thanks to that, a Marvel movie got its first Oscar.
I don't say the first superhero movie because that title belongs to Superman.
Man, Lord of the Rings is just flexing over everyone. The effects were truly incredible for the time, and still hold up so freaking well.
One trilogy to rule them all 🔥
@@cinevore358 right after STAR WARS The Original Trilogy. The best and most groundbreaking effects of all time AMEN 💥
@@Jacques_the_Rooster Not even close. Artistically, The Lord of the Rings is far superior.
I love Lord of the Rings trilogy
It is still better than todays 99 percent movies
The Lord of the Rings is the perfect blend of ambition, brilliant storytelling and incredible technical achievement.
The epic story in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy is complemented by beautiful landscapes, award-winning costume design and special visual effects that have held up incredibly well.
Davy Jones CGI is just amazing
Movies of Peter Jackson and Chris Nolan = confirmed for VFX Oscar
they both know exactly how to use VFX and dont just do everything with CGI (Hobbit doesnt count, they made these movies under a lot of presure)
Actually, Christopher Nolan prefer to not use CGI or VFX in his movies andonly use it when desperate, he prefer using practical effects
@@aimankamiri959 Yes, but he also knows when to use VFX. Like in interstellar, the endurance is a physical model but all the backgrounds (of space) are CGI that is then played back on big monitors (like a predecessor to the technology that they used in the mandalorian). Or the bat (I think its called the bat) in tdkr, where they shoot some stuff with that thing on a car or crane and cut between those shots full CG shots, to integrate it more in reality
@@kevinjustin7646 And Tenet and Inception
And James Cameron
The bittersweet yet satisfying conclusion of the Lord of the Rings has brought audiences to tears for generations.
What makes those movies and the Lord of the Rings trilogy still awesome even decades after their initial releases was really make people feel something. The characters and the settings get into the imaginations and hearts of viewers, and stay with them for the rest of their lives.
BRO Lord of the Rings is AMAZING!

This has probably been one of the more consistent award categories. I know any award is subjective, but unlike Best Picture a lot of times, I truly think Visual Effects category gets it totally right. THE MATRIX was such a game changer when it came out.
Yeah the biggest Oscar snub in my eyes is when they didn’t nominate The Lego Movie for Best Animated Feature!
Exactly, and that's because it's only voted on by other members of the VFX branch. There are definitely a few of these that could have gone to other films but none of these are bad or wrong choices in any way
There have been plenty of movies with visual effects that revolutionizes the industry throughout the years. These pictures marked a distinctive before and after in cinematic history from revolutionary minds. Whether they generated sharp technological advancements or used existing technology in innovative ways, these groundbreaking films have defined what a film can look like.
Visual effects have always been an essential part of cinema. They have evolved greatly over the decades through highs and lows. It was beyond astonishing to compare how movies looked a few decades ago, relying mostly on practical effects on an impressive scale, to how they look today thanks to cutting-edge computer graphics imagery technology.

The victory of the Return of the King was truly groundbreaking in the fantasy genre, and the entire Lord of the Rings series has since become one of the most popular franchises of all time, with its final chapter alone grossing an incredible $1,120,000,000 at the box office.
What makes Gimli a lovable figure who wears his heart on his sleeve is his loyalty, courage and outspoken humor.
I love how some of these aren't the most in your face effects, but instead, things you didn't realise were cgi. That's what makes them so good.
The Battle of Helm's Deep is brutal and realistic, with its rain soaked nighttime setting providing the perfect backdrop to the fighting. Knowing all the hard work that went into creating this scene and the hardships endured by the cast and crew only makes it even more powerful and awe-inspiring. Helm's Deep stands as one of the greatest action sequences in cinema, ensuring the legacy of the Lord of the Rings: the Two Towers as one of the best fantasy films.
Gravity is a stunning movie filled with tension and drama. Gravity is filled with gorgeous shots of space and wonderful cinematography.
The one thing I love about this video, compared to other Visual Effects Videos, is you not only show every great visual effect moment in each film, but you take the time to show us and explain how and why each moment was groundbreaking and revolutionary.

A huge part of what makes Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy work is how well the fantastical looks real in these movies. It was a testament to the hard work and sheer talent that the practical and digital effects artists poured into the trilogy that their version of Middle Earth is still considered to be the gold standard that all new high fantasies are measured against.
A commitment to the craft, practical effects and attention to detail make the Lord of the Rings trilogy timeless.
Among the most famous of all movies about Rome, Gladiator is a Ridley Scott masterpiece that earned $460,000,000 at the box office and won five Oscars. Gladiator was so successful that the movie created a phenomenon and spawned a spike in interest in Ancient Roman literature and history.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is a masterclass in storytelling, and its visuals, performances and action sequences are equally impressive.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy is a real miracle: three wonderful and astonishing movies, three critically acclaimed masterpieces, regarded among the greatest, most beautiful and most influential films ever made.
The Return of the King is a gargantuan production and a magnificent ending, unafraid to bring all of its character arcs and plotlines to a satisfyingly close. Every element falls into place to deliver a cinematic masterpiece: the action is awesome, the performances are great, the script is perfect, and the fantasy elements are beautifully realized.
-The world we live in is just as amazing as the one we created for you
Avatar has to be the most visually stunning movie I've ever seen. Hopefully the new one is even better.
I've rewatched it recently, and it still holds up. Cameron is the best 🔥
I AM keeping Fingers crossed for Avatar: The Way of Water
The Two Towers is still a remarkable display of the fantasy, action and adventure genres that undoubtedly holds a special place in the hearts of fans.
The bond between Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee only grows stronger the deeper into their perilous journey they get, with the scenes of them in Mordor, braving the desperate and deadly last leg of their trek together, being as unforgettable as they are powerful.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy is epic in every sense of the word, from the characters, the music, the landscapes, to the themes of friendship, honor and fighting for the goodness in the world.
Critics have called Gladiator a stunning, explosive and breathtaking epic with a dazzling combination of vivid action and extraordinary storytelling.
Denis Villeneuve's Dune brings audiences into a futuristic universe of astonishing planets and cultures while including awe-inspiring action set pieces. Denis Villeneuve's Dune was a visually stunning and passionately made science fiction blockbuster that earned six Academy Awards.
The Return of the King is the textbook definition of an epic, grand and satisfying trilogy finale done right.
Masterfully directed by Ridley Scott, and featuring a riveting performance from Oscar winner Russell Crowe, Gladiator is truly a colossus of rousing action!
Gladiator remained an indomitable force in 2000, proving that a film can sometimes transcend traditional award patterns and create a legacy of its own.
The bond that develops between Legolas and Gimli is one of genuine friendship and mutual respect, even if it never loses a sporting rivalry. Legolas and Gimli are facing insurmountable odds together that best defines what is one of the greatest and most heartwarming friendships in the Lord of the Rings.
Spider-Man 2 jumps right into the action without forgetting about a good story and memorable characters, and the movie remains a masterclass in pacing. All that operates in addition to set pieces that have aged wonderfully well.
The Matrix, Gladiator, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Spider-Man 2, King Kong, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, The Golden Compass, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Avatar, Inception, Hugo, Life of Pi, Gravity, Interstellar, Ex Machina, The Jungle Book, Blade Runner 2049, First Man and 1917 has great visual effects.
'The Matrix' came out the same year as 'Star wars Phantom Menace'. All earlier Star wars films won oscar for visual effect. Everyone thought Star wars would bag it because of their astounding CGI budget and their commanding fan base, even among the academy members. Fortunately they got it right. Visual effects of 'The Matrix' was way ahead of its time.
The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy has become an enduring icon of modern film for its incredible story, breathtaking visual display, awe-inspiring action sequences and fantastic characters.
The Lord of the Rings has so many incredible duos help define the greatness of one of the most triumphant feats in film history that ranges from unexpected alliances between rivals to epic and tormented tales of love and even to pairings that stand as the ultimate depictions of friendship in cinema.

The visual beauty of Interstellar still holds up today, with every frame being a treat for the eyes. The visual effects of the film are impressive and outshine other modern blockbusters.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy is absolutely perfect in every part and full of poetry and beauty. Peter Jackson and his team managed to transform one of the greatest books ever into three classic movies, three monuments of the cinematic history.
Your editing is always on point. Seriously nice.
Watching this list, it reminded and also amazed me that none of super big budget movies of MCU and Star Wars won this category.

I don't think any of the MCU films deserves visual effect Oscar, and Star Wars prequels always had seriously rough competition ^^ (Matrix, LOTR and King Kong)
Star Wars Sequels were actually really dope but had some serious competition.... especially with Blade Runner 2049 vs The Last Jedi....but does it really matters....everybody knows that Star Wars ushered in visual effects....and the OT won all the three times

The Lord of the Rings trilogy depicts a fantastical sprawling world where magic, evil and heroism combine, often from the most unexpected places.
The legendary friendship between Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee makes them one of the best duos in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and arguably the greatest duo in cinematic history.

Gladiator was a groundbreaking film in 2000, reinvigorating the historical epic genre while earning critical acclaim and massive box office success. Gladiator's five total Oscars and numerous nominations cemented its status as the biggest film of 2000 and a lasting cultural touchstone.
Billy Boyd brilliantly captures the evolution of Peregrin Took in his performance that showcases his comedic chops early in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and effortlessly transitioning into moments of shattering fear, doubt and eventual courage.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is peak fantasy as well as an unbridled triumph of cinema at practically every level, from its brilliant special effects and attention to detail to its beautiful score and perfect casting choices.
Peter Jackson was able to keep his eye on the emotion even while spectacle swirled around him that makes the Lord of the Rings trilogy such a stunner.

The POTC trilogy will alway have a special place in my heart
It's so underrated. Imo the original POTC trilogy is better than the hobbit or the sequels.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy has just something about watching these ordinary people step into their destinies and change the world for the better that makes every viewer feel like they have the strength to do the same. The most inspiring moments in the Lord of the Rings trilogy are littered with nuggets of wisdom that encourage people to take the leap out of their comfort zone and live as fearlessly as possible.
The mutual admiration between Aragorn and Boromir is solidified for all to see, as both men are sincere in their declaration to protect Frodo Baggins and the Fellowship of the Ring and hold great mutual respect for each other to their courage and will to do good.
Christopher Nolan is having a ball, and he just won another one last night.

These days Avatar has many haters, especially among Marvel fanboys but it's an amazing movie - not just visually. Anyway, I still hate the fact they didn't nominate The Fifth Element (1997) in this category. What a crime. Also, Prometheus should have won in 2012. It's such a fantastic looking movie
People shit on Cameron way too much.. He's one of the best directors of all time! And Avatar is criminally underrated unfortunately..
@Aariz Khan I adore Minority Report. I wouldn't mind it to win the Oscar
Life of Pi has more impressive and realistic CGI than Prometheus...

It's actually insane that not one single Marvel movie made this oscar list, its graphics and visual effects through out the 23 movies are all just so phenomenal.
Even though they're mostly good, Marvel visual effects are not that incredible or revolutionary.. At least for me.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy is filled with breathtaking spectacle, epic battles, meticulous world-building, brilliant characters and plenty of heart at their core. Peter Jackson brings Middle Earth to life with the highest of care, and the journey of Frodo Baggins offers a thrilling quest for fans to ride along with.
The introduction of new characters and locations in Dead Man's Chest brought the pirate lore to the front for the swashbuckling blockbuster, which simultaneously allowed the second film of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise to reach new visual effects heights.
A thought for Andy Sirkis who contributed to the animations of Gollum and King Kong !
I think a part of my opinion is due to the enormous love I have for this film, but I think Pacific Rim (2013) should have won the Oscar for best special effects.
Nah Gravity is deserved it
The Two Towers is fondly remembered for the battle of Helm's Deep, which has become a pivotal example of how massive medieval fantasy battles should be shot and executed.

The ultimate value of Samwise Gamgee to Frodo Baggins is his everlasting optimism and his steadfast belief that good will triumph over evil and tyranny, no matter how dire the situation may get.
Elijah Wood captured every single one of the complexities of Frodo Baggins, with one of his greatest strengths being his remarkable portrayal of Frodo's complicated relationship with Gollum, who he views as a mirror of himself.

The Two Towers is just as impressive while the Fellowship of the Ring and the Return of the King usually command more attention. The visuals are gorgeous, the world-building is fascinating, and the action sequences are beyond gripping; the battle of Helm's Deep is one of the greatest action scenes in movie history.

The Return of the King gives both Eowyn and Merry an opportunity to prove themselves on the battlefield, with both characters becoming an iconic yet underrated duo that display their courage and honor while fighting for what they love in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Dead Man's Chest marked a shift for the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Dead Man's Chest was even darker and grittier than the Curse of the Black Pearl, while the supernatural elements of the franchise became more stunning.
Both Amazing Spiderman movies deserved a nomination.
