On 3/21, we headed up to the Vermont Railway in search of detour trains. We ended up catching an NS Autorack detour (29E), and the GMRC 263 Slurry Train. It was a beautiful day and the chase of these two trains was very fun.
Since we had such a great experience, on 3/28, we decided to head back to Vermont for more. Before heading to the VTR we stopped in Selkirk, NY and caught 2 CSX trains meeting at Game Farm Road. Then, we started the day of chasing at Hoosick Junction, NY and immediately found 16R departing with Pan Am B40-8s and a colorful set of VTR/Leasor EMDs! We chased him for a while, then drove over to the GMRC to catch VTR 264 with 5 units and VTR SD70M-2 #431 leading with an awesome first-gen K5LLA! After 264 made it to Rutland we found 16R again and got one more shot of him. Then, heading back south, we found a second 16R with more Pan Am B40-8 power! Finally, on the CP Tracks in Elnora, NY, we caught yet another 16R, this time still under NS power. As of 4/4, the Hoosick Tunnel is reopened and the detours have ended. It was a great experience to be able to chase these moves while they lasted!

This track isn't in half bad shape for a small regional. Much of the former B&M and MEC lines are down to FRA Class I.

Great video content. But discouraging to see so many scrap cars heading east. That's what is happening to the once vibrant and powerful economy, an economy that built railroads.
