CSX's New Special Locomotives & More: Summer on the River Line

  • In July 2023 I made two trips out to the River Line to catch two of CSX's new special paint schemes. First was CSX SD70MAC #4568 wearing the Operation Lifesaver colors, followed days later by CSX #1827, the B&O Heritage Unit making its first appearance in the northeast. In addition to these special units lots more interesting power was present in the form of SD70 rebuilds, foreign power, and what may be my last catch of a CSX Dash 9.     So M567 is no longer a symbol as well as M218 no longer being a symbol now it’s M266 and M267 doing the job over the river line and from Selkirk to Chicago there’s M565 M566 eb/wb I think those now replaced the mixed freight ex boxcars tanks at one point were part of M567 consist basically running 4 trains versus the two while the M266/267 is what M218 used ti be
