It feels awesome to get that kind of utility just out in the world randomly! I wish some other weapons had this level of experimentation and uniqueness applied to them, like a buffed boomerang or a breakable set of hookshot style weapons!

    One thing to note about the Royal Claymore is the fantastic availability it has early-game - on my latest master mode run, I made a beeline for the tower by the military training camp, and it has a guaranteed royal claymore at the top of it no matter how much progress you've made. That means that I had a 52 attack very reliable weapon alongside my crappy 20-25 attack early game weapons, which makes things much easier.

Shield guard doesn't really mean anything unless you're being attacked by a Lynel (especially if you perfect parry a lot), so any reasonably durable shield is pretty good. Pot lids are more durable than most of the other shields you can get on the plateau, and given how Lim's been accounting for availability, they'd probably rank higher than Royal Guard's Shields. I would just like to add a few of my cents as primarily a combat player to this. For the most part I agree with the list, but the elemental greatswords should all be in A tier. The great frostblade allows for true freeze chaining, which is among the fastest methods to kill single enemies, and once it's started it's easy to not mess up. The great thunderblade just is really cool in combat with a bowspin and a bit of metal too. The lizal tri-boomerang should also be in A tier, since it's the best boomerang and really easy to get, and boomerangs are probably the coolest sub-class of weapon. The usage in combat is really cool and super useful. I also think the korok leaf actually deserves S tier. It's usefulness in the early game is supreme, with leaf bomb rolls/launches. It also is super useful for it's sailing and puzzle abilities, and it's a weapon I keep on me at all times. Other than that your list is really good.

    • @Limcube

      Wouldnt freezing with the rod and then shattering with the ancient spear not just increase damage and use less durabillity?

    • @cheke_hs
      @cheke_hs 2 года назад +32

      To put it in perspective:
      -The highest possible base damage of the Great Frostblade is 48.
      -A 1.5x boost means 72 dmg.
      -And with true freeze chaining, that damage can be boosted 3 times over, meaning 216 dmg *PER HIT* (in actual gameplay it's actually 226, for some reason), which is enough to kill a Major Test of Strength Guardian (the freezable enemy with highest HP) in just 14 hits. The Battle Axe++ can deal a max of 202 to normal enemies and 262 to Guardians, so by this metric, the Great Frostblade could even go all the way up to S tier.

    • @ultimateking2238
      @ultimateking2238 2 года назад +20

      @@Limcube The main thing with it is that a true freeze chain never unfreezes the enemy, being the only known technique to do that. It hits with every 2-handed weapon rotation plus possible double hits. Because it's in a bowspin, it also doesn't run out of charge on the ice, meaning you can quickly kill any freezable enemy without them having a chance to attack. And yeah, blizzard rod then Max damage ancient spear would probably use less durability, the enemy still would unfreeze and it would take much more time than tfc

    • @eclypse7762

    i think the thunderstorm rod is a broken resource often overlooked in freezable enemies in tandem with. You can send 3 shock balls at a frozen enemy that get multiplied by 3 because the enemy is wet (frozen) and does another 3x when it shatters on the fifth wave. Little cheezy, but gold enemies and test of strengths become innocuous. Not to mention the aoe of the blizzard rod and the shockwave of the wet enemies, often this kills a whole camp. Niche, but solid uses. Korok leaf also has a solid use as a bomb launcher. Definitely one of the most fun weapons. i like the videos great content.

    @rebeccawatts5780 2 года назад +14

    Like your list! Personally I really like all the thunder type weapons because they can be really helpful in fights against any enemies capable of being shocked. In my opinion they are almost unfair since they give you the ability to continuously hit an enemy without giving an opportunity to hit back. Also, if you are low on weapons, you can steal enemy weapons easily.

  • @fable23
    @fable23 2 года назад +7

    One thing about the Thunder Spear that helps it in my eyes: a fully charged charge attack on a metal object or "wet" enemy will send out a shockwave with every hit. At 13 hits maximum, that is a LOT of area damage very quickly.

    I mostly agree, but guardian sword ++ can get attack up to 60, combined with the ancient proficiency and attack up that’s 162 damage per hit. You can also use durabiliy transfer from the biggoron sword or spring hammer to get a durability of 110 or 99. And because it’s a single handed weapon you can attack fast and have a shield too.

      The guardian weapons will always be underrated because most people don't care about them with their lack of knowledge on how overpowered they are. I see your reasoning as to why they are C class weapons, but if you sell stuff from your inventory and farm ancient parts regularly, you shouldn't have a problem getting them. Another reason would be Ancient Proficiency, it increases the attack power on any ancient or guardian weapon by 80%. Overall, because I don't have a problem getting those two weapons, I'd put them both low on A tier.

    I saw it on twitter yesterday already but I'd really swap the Frost Spear with the Ancient Spear or even put it in S. That's my only big complaint about this list.
    The staff itself is good for multiple enemies sure, but if you charge your attack, the spear freezes and shatters one enemy multiple times before knocking them over (silver enemies are usually dead at this point, only gold moblins can take a full combo I think), hitting higher single target DPS than the Ancient Spear ever could with all buffs considered. Ancient Spear is still better for Guardian Types tho

  • @LoverOnTheLineMajora
    @LoverOnTheLineMajora 2 года назад +8

    I was going to mention the very op charged combo of the frostspear against stuff like golden Moblins but someone already did that.
    I would give a little bit more credit to the one-handed and two-handed dragonbone weapons though (sans spears sadly). If you get the Phantom Ganon armor as soon as you can, it gives stealth and the bone weapons atk increase of 80% if I recall correctly (screw that horrible radiant armor). Haven't played in a while, but I think the bone weapon atk up stacked with the normal atk up bonus just like the ancient armor atk up bonus does... so if you farm dragon horns for a bit that's easy to exploit... even beyond that, those are the 3rd tiers of incredibly common early game weapons so they advance and reach gold mods relatively fast.
    The one-handed dragon boko club can reach up to 50 atk, the two-handed dragon boko club can reach 60 and the dragonbone can reach 65... it is easy to farm those idiots with a thunder trap as soon as you see the gold modifiers and use those with the Phantom Ganon armor 80% atk bonus and the elixir's 50% (i think?) Atk bonus. Shitty durability is the issue so you will want a good weapon for durability transfer like the biggoron sword. All of this is outclassed when you eventually farm guardian weapons with gold atk mods and durability transfer into those and exploit the similar double ark bonus those can get, sure... but I found dragonbone weapons to be the litte version of that, and with the Phantom Ganon armor you can sneakstrike your enemies effortlessly for massive damage and minimal loss of durability... I think only Golden Moblins survived that no matter how buffed you are but you can exploit their dumb AI to chain sneakstrikes on those idiots.
    Again, this kinda pales compared to raiding Hyrule Castle early, getting 3 or 5 shot bows or the jumping attack shockwave on frozen enemies, but if you enjoy sneakstrikes (and those can be exploited very easily) the Phantom Ganon armor with dragonbone weapons lets you chain those like no tomorrow. Thunder weapons help a lot with positioning yourself behind the enemy for a sneakstrike, as briefly paralyzing them works wonders when tricking their kinda moronic AI.
    And that's it I think... I'm curious how would you rate bows in a video... particularly taking into account those "peculiarities" with multishot bows and special arrows; like how the multihit freezes and unfreezes an enemy doing miserable damage or how bomb arrows become duds.

I prefer the flame blade to the great flame blade. A blizzard rod and a high power great thunderblade easily wipe entire camps, even silver and gold enemies.
    The Korok leaf is definitely a useful tool and has unlimited use as long as it doesn't hit anything when swung. I almost consider it an additional rune. Unless I'm doing something specific, I will always have one.

    I actually think that you should bump up the dragonbone boko club up to at least solid. This is because while its base durability is only 18 its base damage can be boosted all the way to 50 with the right modifier. Then after this by just wearing the radiant set with its 80% damage increase it would be boosted all the way to 90 damage. That would be the equivalent to the fully powered master sword with attack up 3 and if you combine bone attack up with attack up 3 you would get an insane damage number of 135. Also with the durability glitch you said was good to use you could negate the naturally poor durability with the biggoron sword.

      With all that work of farming a weapon and getting the best possible modifier, then using durability transfer and I assume also duping it and consuming attack+++ food every time you want to use it along with an armor set most people don't even bother getting, I think he's justified in ranking it so low because at that point you could've just farmed for a high modifier savage lynel sword.

    Good to see the love for the Spring Loaded Hammer! When you were taking about the Biggoron Sword my first thought was, "SLH has to be at least A-Tier, if not S- Tier." Actually a little surprised it was that low: it is the best option for Durability Transfer without an Amiibo. Between that and the Awakened Master Sword, I actually don't use Sledgehammers or Axes anymore, lol! The Sword of Evil's Bane is my Chief Foraging Tool.

    Even if you don't consider durability transfer glitch, I still feel like Royal Guard's Claymore deserves at least A tier for one specific use case:
    If you climb onto the back of a lynel and do the hilt attack on it, this doesn't consume any weapon durability. So, if you're going around killing lynels, you can grab yourself a 116 damage royal guard's claymore and keep it around only to use here. It will last forever and do a large chunk of a lynel's health. You can easily kill a gold lynel this way by just headshotting -> mounted attack over and over again, while only consuming a couple arrows because your claymore will never break.

      It's also why I rate Savage Lynel weapons so lowly. By the time you can get them, and especially by the time you're worrying about their added effects, what is actually left that you're going to use them on? That Savage Lynel Sword with 100+ power is a trophy at best, it's not helping you.

    About the one hit obliterator, it's the only weapon in the game with unlimited durability alongside the bow of light. I know of course you'd probably only put it in c tier and not lower just because it does 1 hit damage when obtained through glitches and will still force you at a quarter of a heart. You almost can't even unequip it meaning you're glued with it without the house. With that considered, it's a good novelty item and could be considered the new meta for no hit, 1 hit damage only challenge runs.

    I think that the Guardian Swords were really underrated. When farming for guardian parts, my go-to combo is Guardian Sword++ and Guardian Axe++, which can easily be gotten by farming Major Tests of Strength. The reason it is the best is because GS++ is the easiest weapon to break guardian legs with. 6 swipes with the sword to break all of the legs, and then spin2win with the axe to finish it off. It is far harder to break the legs with a spear, and missing even once will give the guardian time to regenerate health. There’s no reason to waste durability of the axe on the legs since any ancient weapon will break the legs in one hit, so the sword is the best and easiest option.
    Other than that small detail, this was a great list and very entertaining video!

  • @AllHailMe12431

    I'll have to disagree on the Thunder spear's placement on this list. If you use it in conjunction with either rain, or soaking the enemies with chu-jelly, you can effectively wipe out everything below silver rank in an enemy camp with just one full charge attack, with anything strong enough to survive the lag-tastic barrage being easy pickings afterwards. The spin-to-win on the thunder-great sword is arguably even more devastating with this tactic. The spear is easier to find than the greatsword though, with 3 of them held by lizalfos swimming around the tower near the Thundra plateau.

    To me, it’s so sad that the regional weapons don’t have like a power up based on the regional armors. Like imagine if the fully upgraded zora armor buffed the silver weapons to make them on par with the better ones. Same with de gerudo outfits upgrading the gerudo weapons. The goron stuff would be interesting to see what they could do with them but every region should have a specific trait the excel at and the respective armors should upgrade that trait to make it a viable choice. Imagine if the zora armor just outright made your silver weapons the highest durability and gave you increased attack speed so you can literally shred even with low base attack. To me it’s just sad that you kinda have to make some weapons viable through these glitches.

    • @Nat_the_Chicken
      @Nat_the_Chicken 2 года назад

      That's a really good idea! The Goron weapons actually already have a specific trait they excel at, mining/rock-breaking/Taluses (the Drillshaft is the only spear in the game that can break rock walls and destroy ore with a single hit). But maybe they could theme it around the champion abilities, so Gerudo weapons get higher attack damage and maybe some electrical thing, Goron weapons are better at disarming enemies or block attacks when spinning or something (or just a plain old Defense Up), Rito weapons knock the enemy high into the air, and Zora weapons give a small autoheal when you do a lot of damage in a short period of time. (That would be pretty broken!) They could also give Soldier's and Knight's weapons a situational durability damage modifier with the Soldier's armor set, and Royal Guard weapons with the DLC Royal Guard outfit... Sheikah weapons with the Stealth outfit... Forest Dweller's weapons with the Korok Mask... There could even be a Yiga Mask that gives you a boost with Yiga weapons! So many terrible pieces of gear could become so much more viable.

      I think the most annoying thing about doing trivial resource collection with bombs is how messy they are. Like, I used to always try to mine ores with bombs because I didn't want to waste durability on anything else, but when you do that the drops go FLYING everywhere and it's easy to lose valuable gems. These days I'll literally use a Royal Claymore to break ores (although the Master Sword is also surprisingly good for that, it seems to take less hits with that than with other slashers).

    Fantastic list, and I understand where you're coming from, a mostly, speed runners perspective, but as soon as you mentioned and started taking the durability transfer glitch and duping into account (which I thought you would ignore for obvious reasons), I have to question some of your choices.
    First, the Guardian Sword++, easy to farm from major tests of strength, it can drop with a max damage of 60, which combined with ancient proficiency, essentially gives it a new base damage output of 108, the highest in the game for single handed weapons, only the Savage Lynel Sword that can drop at 100 comes close. Now attack up lv3 vs everything and a further 30% damage vs. guardians, yeah.... also, slight cherry on top, doesn't attract lightning, so I think it should be at the very least, a good weapon, but I'd personally rank it great.
    Royal Guard Spear is the best general purpose spear in the game (only the Ancient Spear, even with ancient proficiency, is better vs. guardians), it can drop at 57 damage, very easy to get in the castle either by saving/loading at the fireplace spawn or shock trapping others.... then simply durability transfer/dupe, easily at least a good tier weapon, but again, personally I'd rate it great (but maybe a little bias since I enjoy using spears a lot).
    Last, the Iron Sledgehammer, I think it's a little bit overrated, sure it does 4x damage vs Talus', but that's only with a base damage of 12, so 48 damage total, when a Boulder Breaker with 60 base is doing 120 with its 2x vs Talus'. Yes, you can get attack up Sledgehammers up to 34 attack, which will then do a total 136 vs. Talus', but AFAIK, there's only one, non-respawn'able, chest, only on master mode that can drop it? (near the Bosh Kala Shrine). If someone can correct me on how to easily acquire 34 attack Iron Sledgehammers, please comment.

    I would argue that the guardian sword ++ should be in the A tier. Unlike the ancient short sword, it can have modifiers that increase its damage to 60, just as much as the fully powered up master sword and the base ancient battle axe ++. As with all the ancient weapons, it can also be buffed with ancient proficiency. All of these factors, combined with the quickness of a one handed weapon make this an easy a tier for me. (It’s only flaw is it’s durability, but I just do a durability transfer from a powered up master sword).

    As a quick summary for weapons for me:
    -Ancient battle axe++ is the best weapon in the game
    -frost elemental weapons are the best elemental weapons, specifically the spear
    -elemental spears are best because of the faster attack so you can switch to another weapon quicker
    -lynel weapons are obsolete
    -spring loaded hammer is great, really cool to use for durability transfer
    -spears as a whole aside from elementals are obsolete
    -korok leaf is almost completely useless
    -all rock breaking weapons are instantly set up a tier
    -royal guards weapons are terrible
    -all bokoblin, moblin, and lizalfo weapons are hot garbage other than the Lizal boomerangs
    -ancient battle axe is great even though it has low damage because it’s an early game weapon
    -The ancient battle axe+ is an annoyance
    -Zora weapons need a separate tier of garbage
    -mop needs a separate tier of perfect
    -rito weapons need to go in that custom tier of garbage from earlier
    -gerudo weapons are mediocre at best
    -electricity weapons are worthless
    -champion weapons are good, but don’t feel like weapons of champions and break too easily
    -master sword isn’t good until you upgrade it to max
    -all guardian and ancient weapons are instantly put up a tier for having ancient proficiency apply to them and having buffs against guardian enemies
    And that would be all

    As a casual player:
    -All bows are A/S tier (long rage, stun enemies, deal tons of damage with elemental/ bomb arrows, can use ancient arrows, high durability) This wasn't really within the scope of the video, but is worth mentioning.
    -Spring loaded hammer is useless other than for durability transfer.
    -Ice weapons are all A/S - tier because of the shatter effect. If you have two identical really good weapons, it is always beneficial in terms of total damage output to drop one of them for an ice weapon (unless you are exclusively fighting boss enemies). They also cool you down in the desert.
    -Royal guard weapons are worse than Royal weapons, since their durability is dogsh*t. If you are doing a speedrun, then Royal guard's claymore is really good, and if you do durability transfer it is amazing, but for any casual player it is B/maybe A at best.
    -Stone smasher is better than Iron sledgehammer (more damage and durability, with all the same effects)
    -All boomerangs deserve 1 tier higher for throw damage boost.
    There were a few small things I disagreed with, but overall I think you made a pretty good ranking of the weapons!
