Your memory for names, titles, and details is incredible. I often barely remember the plot of things I've JUST seen 😂
I totally feel for the alien. I work at night only leave my room to eat. I HATE getting my picture taken😔 And just want to be left in peace!!
Lmaooo 😆 genius.
Literal goals! Lol
😂😂😂😂😂
😂❤
When the “aliens” in the barn showed up, everybody in the theater gasped, including me.
I stg I almost shit my pants 😭 the two scariest scenes were that and the part where it was over the house
Such a well choreographed scene!!
I loved that scene! I actually wish he waited to reveal who that was until later in the film. I thought the reveal was way too early.
Rickys character is probably the most important for figuring out what the deeper meaning of the film is. His character doesn’t learn from the chimp experience as a kid and because he thinks he can control nature and wants to exploit it for profit, he meets the same fate he almost met as a child. Hollywood has a way of capitalizing on tragedy, consuming it and shitting out whatever’s left over
He's the villain also! He was feeding it for awhile. OJ had seen this at night where he saw the stage lights go out. The sound is amazing as you can here the crowd get sucked up .
Makes sense..I thought at the end when the alien opened up, it looked like a television or tv studio camera.
@@DaughterofZion4Lifeoooo yes it did look like a camera lens
I think when OJ and Emerald looked at each other before Em drove off on the bike really did something to me. The acting was powerful ‼️
And remember when they were kids and OJ and their father were about to sell Emerald's horse and they made eye connection then, too.
Their relationship as siblings was refreshing
The alien looked like a camera sometimes. With the square shape. And some earlier scenes made me think of old old cameras where you're under a booth blanket thing
Honestly I’d rather have you guys spoil movies then watch them sometimes aha another great review (: ❤️
*I kinda agree--* 😆
Right thats why im here. Im ok with spoiler i only like one jordan film and thats candyman
I think Gordy didn’t attack ricky under the table because the table cloth was blocking his eyes
That’s so big brain. Is there any connection between the alien and the monkey? It feels like there’s a connection between them through Jupiter
I didn’t think about that! Me and my sister were talking and thought maybe he didn’t attack because Jupiter was the one who trained him to do a fist bump. We thought maybe Gordy was looking for validation or a congrats to what he did. And did anyone else notice multiple people dead in the audience?
@@JuicyJayce69 I thought that too bc of the shoe!
@@riosbethany I didn’t think of it that way but I like it as well
I don't remember Ricky's gift to Gordy but I do know as soon as the girl brought that big gift out and the balloons started popping, that's what made Gordy snap. He may have been protecting Ricky's feelings bc the parents were praising the daughter's gift.
When he punched that kid in the head who was dressed as the alien I cackled 😂
i actually like that they got the polaroid during that plan rather than dealing with the aftermath, it feels like a big theme of the movie is "the lengths we go to trying to wrangle nature for entertainment", given the destruction and death that the final plan caused its ironic that all tht came from it was just one blurry polaroid that people wont even believe
This is the best spoiler review I've seen; thank you! Others I've watched ramble too much or can't even seem to put a coherent sentence together to really describe what's going on in the movie. I was beginning to think the movie itself was indecipherable but you laid it out in an understandable way. Subscribed!
Seriously others don’t even describe what happens they just talk but nothing worth anything comes out
Seriously others don’t even describe what happens they just talk but nothing worth anything comes out
You had me at portobello mushroom head! 🍄
The 4 sips of wine had me..🤣🤣🤣🤣
It seems like movie is symbolizing human beings arrogance in dealing with non-human creatures.
💯
Yea this was definitely the best straight to the point review I've heard so far hands down. Clear and concise, thank you guys🙏🏽.
JUST DOWN THE WINE! ...... please I'll bust a gut from laughing if this continues any longer
Just came back from the theatre a few hours ago & I'm catching up on reviews that I held off watching until I saw the film. I have to say, every review I've watched (good or bad) just reminds me of all the movie's subtle moments and details and it's making me love this movie more & more! It really does stick with you and you start to recognize the many layers beneath it all. I can't stop thinking about the characters! I loved Em & O.J. so much
i think keke killing the alien wasnt apart of their plan in the first place because she uses the guys motorbike to get there instead of the horse which they couldn’t have planned for. i think her and daniel doing the eye thing has something to do with that horse story and it being called jean jacket. it was her “training moment” and daniel was able to trust her enough to do it instead of her dad who didn’t. but who knows i just thought of that watching the review 😂 i do wish their family had more place in the story as well
Realized many of the “monsters”/spectacle-makers only had one eye: Jean Jacket, Otis Sr. after his death for exploiting the horses, the TMZ guy, the film maker.
I swear the entire theatre jumped when the “stolen horse statue” went through the car window. The killer chimp scene was scary too
The killer chimp was the best part of NOPE
"The Netflix series you didn't watch"😂😭
You guys always crack me up❤
“Oh.” … then carries on lol
This movie was amazing. The only thing I wish the movie explained was how/why the shoe was standing upright lol
The shoe was like the rare occurrence when a coin stands on it's side. So it was like the unlucky miracle but ends up being the miracle that saved Jupe's life. Because it was standing up like that he was focused on the shoe when the chimp spotted him and since he wasn't looking in his eyes he wasn't seen as a threat like many animals deem a threat when you stare at them. So he saw him more submissive and or its equal which is why he went to fist bump him.
I wanted the cinematographer to capture the perfect shot when he sacrificed himself and then when the alien disposes of everything that you couldn't digest, the camera would fall out and that's how they would get the shot. Would make better sense than the ending they had with Kiki. I wasn't into it, I was expecting more. Keke definitely saved the movie.
I love that as an alternative to what we got! But I appreciate the movie without putting my expectations into it
@@realjoshb honestly the only expectation I had was that dots would connect lol
The whole creature making sounds reminds me of how the Thing mimicked the sounds of every creature it ate🤔
This is my first time coming across your channel and I’ve got to say for a review period let alone a spoiler review you guys did an excellent job. Because I’ve seen maybe 7 non spoiler reviews, half saying the movie misses the mark and the other half singing it’s praise. You guys lay everything out nicely
*I agree @Marcel, I listened to one person's review and left thinking either the Reviewer is incompetent or Jordan Peele is. Apparently, "that" Reviewer needs to 🛑**#STOP**🛑 reviewing! **#FishJelly**'s review is EXCELLENT!* 🎭
I think the only reason the end worked for me is the scene with Emerald unknowingly photobombing the kids taking the picture at the well and finding it fascinating. Plus it's one of the main structures in the middle of the park so it might've just been a lightbulb idea because it was right there.
I agree; she’s demonstrated through crafting the flag tails, figuring out part of the plan, thinking of parts to use for the trap and even at the start bragging about how she can do different jobs that she can creatively solve problems quickly.
THANK YOU THANK YOU! I was hoping you beautiful gentlemen would review this because everyone with their *IM NOT GONNA SPOIL IT* BS videos was getting me mad. I knew you two would COME TF THRU! Twirl thru!!!!! THIS IS WHY TF I LOVE YA!
I loved that scene with the tmz motorcyclist. Like it’s bizarre that he would show up but it makes sense cause the media would be on it😂 and like other people, he would put himself at risk not taking the advice to make money. But I did like the end scene because it was foreshadowed. And I liked the shots even at night. I thought it was refreshing to see a film that showed dark skin people so clearly in the dark
This movie was a love letter to Spielberg.
I am a big fan of directors who write their movies.
I think you mean Mars Attacks. A group of offbeat characters who are not to bright who deal with man meeting aliens for the first time. This movie is nothing like Spielberg's jaws or close encounters
The close-up of Joseph sipping his wine!!!!!
I love Keke Palmer, I'm always rooting for her.
You guys are getting so close to fifteen thousand subs, I'm so happy for you!!!
- Didn't like the movie. It was meh.
- The ending was stupid.
- I confused why did the Alien open up. It looked cooler as a regular spaceship
I love that you caught the Poltergeist reference. Fun fact: Poltergeist was originally supposed to be an alien film, I hope that was intentional context. The look after you said the alien will only attack you if it sees your eyes was my exact face every.single.time they brought it up! I love this review it sums up perfectly how I felt about the film. It was a simple concept that he muddled with a bit too much symbolism and not enough character development for my taste. It was a bit disjointed which I believe is due to the fact that he had 4+ hours of footage. Why would anyone have that much footage for such a simple concept? I think he might need someone to reel him in a bit. Uh, I have so many thoughts, I'll def check out your podcast, can't wait to hear more!
My husband tried to explain this movie, and when he was done I was like, NOPE!
Me and my wife saw that scene with the cinematographer having one eye and then the next scene he has both eyes. We thought we were tripping. Glad to hear someone else spot that.
Also I have to watch again. Keke had some alcohol in her cup at the moment she was in the house and scared when she was knelling down. They cut back to her and the cup was empty I don't know if that was a mistake or what but I have to watch it again to make sure
I have never seen a ufo depicted like this in a film.
Because it's not a ufo
@idiot_city5444 unidentified flying object. What else was it?
@@yasinradee a fucking living alien
@@yasinradee my balls
The close up on drinking wine! lol! Hilarious! I got a bottle of wine at home waiting for me. lol.
Love the smirking eye rolls
I thought the chimp went crazy because of the balloon pop & I am still wondering what that standing shoe meant, i wish that was explained
That’s the questions I have !! Like why was the shoe standing up like that and what did they chimp have to do with it
That standing shoe was driving me crazy. Jupe also had it amonst his memorabilia. I need to hear Jordan Peele explain it. The explanation I see online is that it's a metaphor for waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Your review was very specific on how the 'important' scenes came across! Both of you zero in about the "not looking it in the eye" - that's its Achilles heel - I understood the idea behind this Alien better. Of course, you are correct to say we could enjoy it just as! Nick: May be there is no subtext. Nice! :)
Thanks guys i love your spoiler reviews yall get straight to the point unlike other reviews
The zooms in of y’all side eying each other 🤣🤣🤣 Always great reviews!❤️
“The Netflix series you didn’t watch.” 😂😂😂 I subscribed immediately lol. Great review.
Oh my god zooming in on the sips of wine, I am laughing my butt off in the kitchen over here
I love the chemistry with you guys. Well done breakdown. I am pleased 🤗
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Here are mine.
1 Gordy the monkey either killed because he was possessed by a greater power or UFO. Or the monkey went crazy because as soon as the balloons were released the monkey started killing everything. Because the chimp saw it’s own reflection in the metallic balloon. Symbolism for how maybe how humankind is able to see itself consciously, we are killing each other. But when the monkey saw it’s reflection in the plastic table covering he went back to being a submissive and relaxed animal. Maybe the shoe is standing perfectly vertical to demonstrate how rare of a moment or how everything went perfectly wrong.
2 The UFO kidnapping and killing if we make eye contact with it could be symbolizing how if we continue to look out into the universe we may find something that will kill us. Maybe we should not look. And just live like normal animals on our Earth habitat that we have.
3 the biblical verse means that we shall be humbled by forces greater than us.
4 the kid prank situation threw me off because they didn’t movie like kids. Especially using graphical/color animation to blend the kid into the shadow. It gave me M Night Sham vibes, the feeling that I got when I saw his aliens in signs. But then it disappeared right away the next scene lol.
4 I wonder the symbolism behind it being so difficult to get footage of the alien. Maybe just to keep the film going.
5 tmz guy was random and sketchy and how and why did he think to have the reflective helmet and what purpose. Maybe it’s symbolic for how TMZ And h gossip shows are so reflective of people, culture/society. Journalism I suppose.
6 fry’s guy could’ve written to be more average in the store then open up after installing the equipment. Awkward development
7 the child star, thought since he was face to face with an animal go from nice, to killing back to nice. He thought that he was able to tame nature. The assumption that nature is predictable. But he eventually did not learn the lesson that nature is eventually unpredictable. The chimp going off. The UFO, wanting to eat early and killing so many people. Just like the chimp did. UFO or chimp, nature is nature.
I love your channel and podcast. Great review by the way! I couldn’t stop laughing at the wine sipping moment. Also I love the new opening screen. Keep up the amazing work! 🤙🏽
Totally trust you guys. Will def be catching this. Thank you for the review and live chat.
Men on films....you guys are awesome.
Loved the review and appreciate the spoiler review. I was on the fence about seeing it, I'll probably still wait for it on VOD.
Joseph killed the drink🤣🤣 when he can't GET TO HIS NOTES REAL QUICK.
Plot twist:
It's not an alien. It's just a big ass prehistoric land jellyfish that has always hid in its environment using clouds.
16:04: kitty got out again 😂 Thanks for the review, gentlemen! Enjoy your week!
Yes, she did.
I love when I go see a movie and I'm like ahhh I hope Fish Jelly has a review for this out already and you guys always come through ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love you all’s commentary. I don’t feel that your spoilers actually spoil anything; for movies I haven’t seen yet, I actually want to see them more after watching your reviews!❤
Love the review! Will say I think it’s more than just a basic “monster movie” personally but that’s just my take. You’re entitled to your own opinion and thanks for all the great content! Love how straight to the point you are
Y’all always come tru with the early reviews! Thank you
Y’all I already know, y’all are my favorite reviewers when are y’all gonna make a movie?hmmmmm. Keep up the good work❤️❤️
I just love you two sooooo dang much!! Great review! As has been said: Y’all’s reviews are probs more entertaining than the film. I’ll enjoy it more having seen this review.❤️
Jordan had this in his books!! He’s been wanting to do this for a while! Monkey Paw!!
The way you both get each other’s humor is super cute
*Your review was interesting, I found myself hanging on to every word!* 🎬
This is my favorite film of the year! Glad to hear you guys had fun with it too. I agree with Joseph on all the creepy scenes he brought up. The one where the 40 people are eaten alive was especially unsettling😰
Was excited before to see this film. Even more excited now. Thanks for the review 😊
The raining blood,in my opinion, was the Alien being sick from the that fake horse that was stuck in it's schute. So it Finally was able to dislodge it over OJ's truck.
Thank you both I will look forward to watching this movie it just won't be opening weekend thanks to you two I now know it can wait week.
The close-ups are killing meeee hahahahahaha
Great review! I think one of the best things about this movie is its critique of wow factor, "clickbait" media that doesn't care about its subjects; it only cares about making money. Emerald and OJ are looking to build a legacy out of their great+ grandfather's few seconds of fame, when the filmmakers and historians don't care about who he was. They don't care for the horses, they didn't care for Gordy, and they don't care about the alien. They just want to abuse their subjects for personal gain. And so it's critiquing a lot of those creators who are willing to hurt others for fame and fortune.
Isn't that in every creature feature film
.society doesn't care about the animal or the people? So why does Jordan Peele get a pat on the back for doing the same thing?
@@festo8756 That’s a great point! Looking at it from an environmental lens, it’s not very original. But I do think that where this movie differs from other creature features is his critique of the entertainment industry itself. Today the industry chews people up and spits them out (if you get my metaphor, haha). It uses them for content, makes a fortune off of them, and then leaves them in the dirt. And yet still, we all on some level wish for our five seconds of fame, our “Oprah shot.” We want to be a part of something viral that gives us millions of views and makes us rich. I mean, that’s really the only reason why sites likes Tiktok and RUclips have so much content. But who are we hurting and what are we giving up to make those dreams happen, and to keep feeding the machine?
I think that’s definitely something new that the movie explored, mainly because this content farm industry is fairly new in its size and scale. And I’ll pat him on the back for that.
@@Daring2BDaring Once again that's not new. The movie tremors which most likely Jordan Peele copied for this movie featured a cast of characters who were rejected by society and the two guy main characters are trying to make quick money. Do you agree?
How did Ricky profit off the alien for 6 months though? Literally all audiences would have looked up at it (including him) and got eaten
It made me think of 'The Thing' when it couldn't digest inanimate things. I enjoyed the film very much.
The photo in the frame is not an actor playing Keith David that was actually a young Keith in that portrait he's a great actor and has been in many films throughout his career. When Em has the memory of Jean Jacket that's an actor playing young OJ.
Also, how has no one mentioned that shoe standing straight up!!? Do you think that's aliens that caused Gordy to act out? With the shoe standing straight up like that? Or you think that's Jupiter having a false memory or as a child focused on the shoe instead of looking Gordy in the eyes which is the overriding theme? Bad miracles as OJ calls them.
Thank you for giving an unbiased synopsis before your analysis. It made the video more entertaining.
Joseph’s isolated wine sips 😭
This is the first in-depth / thorough review I've heard. We'll-done. Thx guys.
You two are hilarious! If I ever get stranded somewhere, I pray and hope that my two fairy god mother's, Nick and Joseph, are there to hilariously give me life advice and survival tips.
I just finished watching the movie. Around 18:00 in the video, Nick says he thought the cinematographer only had one eye. I remember that part, and about a minute later, there was another closeup of the guy, and he had two eyes. Maybe the cinematographer guy had one eye closed because he had just been filming with the old crank-powered camera.
You guys are great! Initially, I found you looking for a review of The Invitation which I am probably NOT going to watch. But, then I was like, "Let's see if they reviewed Nope which I've already seen." And you did. I loved the movie, especially for the Black community. The cinematography was great. Keke Palmer with her clothing style and natural hair was aspiring. The alien was more watchable because it wasn't scary. But, your hilarious reviews are awesome, yo.
Nice review as always 🌟 This was definitely an Apocalyptic movie horses and all with pieces of The Happening included.
The alien was both an a hole and a c*nt(blood part, very Carrie) the blood pouring out being a reference, in this case, to the blood, sweat, and tears that went into the ranch, house, and business as a hole( there goes that a hole again).
I noticed the latest Jurassic Park references this movie with characters saying "nope" to certain things that may possibly kill them. Nope also references Jurassic Park with certain scenes, the movie also references Jeepers Creepers regarding the eyes, with the third installment of Jeepers Creepers supposedly coming out this year.
In conclusion, did I think the movie was good? Nope.
Thank you for the review. I really wanted to know just what exactly this movie was about. Now I want to see it.
Sounds like a black version of "Signs"👽 Which I loved. I'm gonna watch this. Thank you ❤️. Jordan better get it tomorrow get it together to he more cohesive. So far I only like candy man...
One plot flaw was the motorcycle Emerald rode away on. If her plan was to get to Jupiter’s Claim, what was she going to use to get there? The motorcycle was not expected. The TMZ guy showed up conveniently?!?
The Jupiter Claim photo op was last minute decision because the cinematographer got eaten along with footage. Luck of the TMZ guy coming in on the bike. Lol
So, when the balloon pops, people die (via Gordy) and at the end, aliens die. 🤔
Another excellent review Nick & Joseph!
I watched this whole video waiting to find out what the gag is and I was not disappointed...
First time commenter but have been following you guys for a while and love your take on reviews for films and your expressions and witty remarks always leave me laughing. I was wondering if the picture on Nick’s shirt is a still image from Bergman’s Persona? I’m not sure if this has already been asked or not but if so that’s awesome. Sending nothing but the best to you both all the way from TN.
Thank you! Yes, it’s from Persona.
Your reviews are so spot on.. I really appreciate them
It can ONLY BE Nick and Joseph to review this movie for me! 💯
I love your reviews, as a film student.. I learn so much from your taste and knowledge
I've been waiting on this specific movie review from yall & was sooo happy when it was up this morning! I only trust your film critiques! Thank you for another great video! 🌈 ❤️
I loved 'Nope'! Thanks for your review. :)
What about the “floating” shoe on the set? I can’t figure out why there was such an emphasis on it
Sameeeee it’s driving me nuts
I think we need to go back and watch the movie again lol. Too bad it's not on cable or dvd.
I saw this in 4DX last night and the experience was incredible.
Thanks for the heads up. I really wanted to see it but I think I'll rent it when it's VOD. It will still cost 20$ but at least I can watch it a few times. Have a great day!
Love the content! Been looking forward to this review but had to wait till I watched the movie and was blown away! Also new subscriber here! You two are entertaining and really break it down well.
I will certainly see this film after this review. I am excited!!!!
Great review as always; I very much look forward to this film! 🏳️🌈👽
Great description guys!
I definitely thought of Shymalan’s Signs while watching this, but couldn’t help but feel that Jordan Peele did it better! I absolutely loved Nope!
Also when young Ricky was looking at the shoe when Gordy lost it he broke eye contact which saved him which is referred as a bad miracle
"I brought him up because after the alien shits on the house..."
I really enjoyed this film because if nothing else it’s just so much different than the majority of crap that’s put out today and I typically enjoy any movie that makes you think about it days later and that’s exactly what this film did for me. Great review👍🏽👍🏽
Going to a 4pm showing today. Jordan is a huge fan of The Outer Limits and clearly The Twilight Zone so as a fellow Scifi nerd that's always a win for me.
Edit: the chimpanzee incident brings me back to the Connecticut mauling ( Im in Massachusetts) of a woman who treated the animal as her son until he turned on her.
Nope is a remake of Signs. Which has nothing to do with Twilight Zone.
@@festo8756 I'm aware i was just stating he's a fan of that particular genre.
@@TechnicJunglist Since you know Jordan peele just remakes old movies. What is the appeal of watching a movie you have seen already?
@@festo8756 the appeal is it being better than Signs
@@drunkenMercenary-ml8hd It's the same movie. In Signs you had a failed baseball player. In Nope you have failed actor.
