Of course they nailed it. But i feel its controversial to the name of the band. But there cause is noble as hell. If you listen they are telling you that all tho they don't believe in god(greg) or orginized religion. They will always sopport the fellow man. Its all about the handshake.
I think anyone claiming to be a Bad Religion fan and complaining about this clearly does not understand them. Remember American Jesus? Yeah, they play on Irony regularly. This was probably hilarious and fun for them. You can be an atheist and still celebrate Christmas. This doesnt suddenly change your beliefs. I think this is facinating and shows their tolerance and open minds.
A seriously fantastic album of classic carols, done with a care and respect to the core of the message behind em. Jesus would laugh at the irony, tapping his foot the whole time. Plus, Graffin absolutely kills it.

I was an atheist (1979-1994) and was saved on the 14th of January back in 1995 after reading my Confirmation Bible and Catechism of Martin Luther. I was about to interview Bad Religion in Provinssirock 1995 like I interviewed Offspring on the 30th of August in 1994 in Tampere but I had been a Christian for such a short time, so I missed the opportunity, even though I have a press card for it.

I call this "respectful irony" - anyone who pretends to know anything about their history should know that many forms of music have guided their evolution. To label BR as "power chord punk" is ignorant. Furthermore valid critics know their counterparts. So while some may take this as literal and others maybe as offensive, I view it as a confirmation for their 30+ years of being one of the most intelligent bands ever, power chords and all...Merry Xmas!

Punk has no sound it's a lifestyle, the genre of punk is kept alive by the people that love it. I seriously don't get the whole punk is this but not that. Enjoy what you like when you want how bout that? Play, say and do what you want. This whole judgemental punk movement is literally killing punk and it's ideology, you don't have to like, still want to slap a lable on it and you?
@@JoeEWhite-kd6mt exactly, while the music may have a generally homogenous sound, that's not at all what it's about. Take the Clash for instance, they didn't exactly "sound like punk", but they were as punk as any other punk band.
I love this album. I'm a huge Bad Religion fan regardless but I'm happy they did a christmas album proper. when you take religion or spirituality out of it, regardless of what a punk band may believe, especially BR, it's more about bringing joh and happiness to people during the holiday season. That's why Christmas is one of those of holidays that is very universal and everyone can celebrate it, even if they don't believe in it. The core of it is about tidings of joy and comfort from one man/woman to another. And I know BR is all about that in terms of humanism.
Bad religion can do a cover for any song and I'd listen. But what us said is so true. Christmas is more about coming together and having a good time than Jesus. If it was about Jesus I'm pretty sure u wouldn't get presents. Ur present is that he died for u lol

A good introduction to punk for a beginner is listening to unexpected quirky covers of old or traditional songs, here you can see all the creativity of that genre, good job Bad Religion.

God uses the most unlikely instruments to carry out His work of salvation. I've always loved Bad Religion for their music, especially the lyrics. But this album stroke me in a completely new way. When I first heard it, I felt I was facing something really big and true. This experience made me open my heart to the power and grace of God in my life. Today I can see that my life has a meaning. There's a reason for me to wake up every day, and this reason is Christ. Thank you, Bad Religion, for this gift. May it help lead many other souls to God, especially the band members. This is applied religion, turning the head into a kind of old light bulb (80 % heat, 20 % light. What a waste of energy!) But the heart gets cold! Confusion! I absolutely adore this album. These songs are timeless. They're about the birth of an idealized version of a real person that hit on universal themes that are central to the human condition. Only a post-modernist cretin would think otherwise.

I think anyone claiming to be a Bad Religion fan and complaining about this clearly does not understand them. Remember American Jesus? Yeah, they play on Irony regularly. This was probably hilarious and fun for them. You can be an atheist and still celebrate Christmas. This doesnt suddenly change your beliefs. I think this is facinating and shows their tolerance and open minds.

Now I have an autographed book of Greg Graffin's Punk Paradox and I'm listening to this record on vinyl right at my home! As a born again Lutheran Christian and as a street evangelist I have been praying for the band for a long time!

I was an atheist (1979-1994) and was saved on the 14th of January back in 1995 after reading my Confirmation Bible and Catechism of Martin Luther. I was about to interview Bad Religion in Provinssirock 1995 like I interviewed Offspring on the 30th of August in 1994 in Tampere but I had been a Christian for such a short time, so I missed the opportunity, even though I have a press card for it.

I call this "respectful irony" - anyone who pretends to know anything about their history should know that many forms of music have guided their evolution. To label BR as "power chord punk" is ignorant. Furthermore valid critics know their counterparts. So while some may take this as literal and others maybe as offensive, I view it as a confirmation for their 30+ years of being one of the most intelligent bands ever, power chords and all...Merry Xmas!

Punk has no sound it's a lifestyle, the genre of punk is kept alive by the people that love it. I seriously don't get the whole punk is this but not that. Enjoy what you like when you want how bout that? Play, say and do what you want. This whole judgemental punk movement is literally killing punk and it's ideology, you don't have to like, still want to slap a lable on it and you?
@@JoeEWhite-kd6mt exactly, while the music may have a generally homogenous sound, that's not at all what it's about. Take the Clash for instance, they didn't exactly "sound like punk", but they were as punk as any other punk band.
I love this album. I'm a huge Bad Religion fan regardless but I'm happy they did a christmas album proper. when you take religion or spirituality out of it, regardless of what a punk band may believe, especially BR, it's more about bringing joh and happiness to people during the holiday season. That's why Christmas is one of those of holidays that is very universal and everyone can celebrate it, even if they don't believe in it. The core of it is about tidings of joy and comfort from one man/woman to another. And I know BR is all about that in terms of humanism.

God uses the most unlikely instruments to carry out His work of salvation. I've always loved Bad Religion for their music, especially the lyrics. But this album stroke me in a completely new way. When I first heard it, I felt I was facing something really big and true. This experience made me open my heart to the power and grace of God in my life. Today I can see that my life has a meaning. There's a reason for me to wake up every day, and this reason is Christ. Thank you, Bad Religion, for this gift. May it help lead many other souls to God, especially the band members.
