Thank you for sharing! I personally prefer the EDT version, closer to the original and I think works better at this concentration. I am 25, I wear (EDT version) and love it. I do come across more mature and people think I look older than I am. It's not sweet and "modern", but is timeless and powdery. I would describe the EDT as follows. Top: Turkish delight covered in lemon flavoured sugar. Mid: Powdery rose with slight floral notes. Very powdery and reminiscent of baby/talc powder. Base: Typical Guerlainade base of amber, Vanilla (Vanillin) but with a slight creamy leathery accord. Wonderful journey of evolution throughout. One of the best men's fragrances of all time. If you don't like it and many will, you must appreciate the complexity required to make not only a well blended fragrance from a large array of notes, but one that evolves so seamlessly from top to drydown. Very few perfumes have achieved this level of technicality and originality. Yet to be replicated, it stands on its own. It was the first oriental fragrance for men. Jean-Paul Guerlain in his early 20's was taking over from his grandfather Jacques (Shalimar, Mitsouko etc. as you said) and created the hugely successful Vetiver. Jean Paul created Habit Rouge as a male Shalimar, being an oriental. Men up until this point (1960's) didn't wear perfume too much and those who did were used to Chypres (such as Channel's Pour Monsieur) and Fougieres (many eau de colognes). Such a move to make a soft, floral and amber-rich perfume for men was risky and revolutionary. He released it and it was not an instant success. In fact, unlike Vetiver, it did so bad during the first 7 years of sales that he received a lot of criticism from both inside the company and outside. It wasn't until the early 70's that it was starting to be appreciated. Jean-Paul was so mortified by the experience that he hated what many consider to be his greatest work, simply for the stress and headaches it had caused him. Now it is the best selling men's fragrance in French history. Famous people noted to have worn it are Sean Connery (RIP), Tony Blair, Robert Redford and Keith Richards. It truly is a masterpiece. Jean Paul's other masterpieces that you should sample are Derby, Samsara and Nahema (discontinued 😡). Also, it's pronounced "Habeee Rouge". Fragrance snobs out there get angry at little things like that lol. I have learned from experience ;) All the best 😁👍
Thanks for the incredible review! Do you have a blog? Also thanks for pointing out the correct pronunciation, I do get in trouble with them often on my channel!
I'm enjoying this fragrance, especially the fruity opening with the basil, but I'm very disappointed with the projection/silage. Also, I'm not getting any of the woods in the base (sob)
Great review as always. I like this but almost get a ‘Turkish delight’ feeling from the rose, very indulgent but I often hear people giving more love to the edt. What I love about Guerlain is they really do seem to change I’ve not found a Guerlain that is linear.
Thanks Ryan! Ah I can totally understand the Turkish delight reference! Yes for me Guerlain is a quality house! One of the very best when it comes to this price point.
Handsome Smells your welcome ! I agree I really like Guerlain, all the lines they offer I think are excellent from the ideal line to the Absolus D’Orient collection. Vetiver is a fantastic fragrance too if you’ve tried that? It’s a real classic !
Nice one mate, been meaning to get my nose on this for a minute. Weirdly Harrods and Selfridges don’t have testers for the EDP! Interested to hear your take.
Handsome Smells They’ve got the EDT and EDP but weirdly only testers for the EDT...Just watched your video and it sounds really intriguing. Going to reach out for a sample on FB 🙏🏼
If you ever try it brother please do let me know your thoughts. Ah I think they might just put one of the range out. As most would get confused on why they have EDT and EDP. Just my theory haha!
Great review akhi, really well described too. I have the EDP, though as with most Guerlains I prefer the EDT 👍🏼💯💥
Jazak'Allah for the kind comment akhi, I need to check out the EDT!
I prefer the EDT though both are incredible. The EDP dates from the early 2000s, btw. Supposedly, the EDP has an Oud note somewhere in there.
Ah fragrantica mentions the EDP being from the mid 60s whilst the EDT being from the early 2000s

I have the Vetiver EDT bottle! Review will be coming soon bro 😊
Handsome Smells look forward to that bro 👍
Amazing review brother. I'll put it on the sampling list
Thanks brother, please let me know if you ever try it. It's a solid designer fragrance!
Really do love the edt, but the edp has that touch of leather on my skin. Bit more animalic in the silver caps too.
Need to try the EDT, thanks for stopping by brother!

That is interesting! I saw bottles a few years ago, would they have been EDT?

😊🙏
My mate and I love it but his wife thinks it smells like a granny! 🙃
granny has better taste than wife!
Haha 🤣 I can't believe some people find this dated in that sense, I still think it smells amazing and timeless!
@@HandsomeSmells mate, you ever smelled kajal?
I haven't mate, but I see it being hyped alot. Have you? I need to get my nose on some.
