They glossed over the fairly interesting bit about splicing the rope. The splice is hundreds of feet long and takes a bunch of hands to accomplish. Its an old school piece of work.
There's another video I see off the recommends of this one, "Steamboat Gondola Cable Splice" that shows the process pretty well. That process is worthy of a video of it's own.
Mt Bachelor’s entire Operation from marketing themselves all the way to building a chairlift and everything far and in-between just amazes me! Keep up the hard work, and I will continue to support the mountain in any way I can!

Wally Kramer In the US it seems like that is true. I think I‘ve only seen 1 6-seater when I was skiing in Utah. 6-8 seaters are kind of normal in Germany/Austria, the big resorts have them everywhere. The resort where I was a week ago has 12 6-seaters and 5 8-seaters

Colorado and Utah use extremely expensive lifts. Oregon is not as popular and doesn't have as many resorts or skiing tourism as those states so doesn't have the money to spend on gondolas and lifts. Not to mention Bachelor costs about $175 for a 2 day pass, and kids under 12 can ski for free. I can't find any European tickets where kids ski free. And the average cost is 60-80 euros per day while kids average 40-50 euros. For families this mountain is cheaper then most of Europe and it's certainly cheaper then Canada which is more expensive then the US
The last thing Bachelor needs is more lifts. They can't even open all the lifts they have now. They should put in night skiing thats what they really need.
It's funny to see American beeing amazed by a 4 seater detachable chairlift. Here in France, small resorts have 6 seaters detachable chairlifts, and most of them have gondolas.... If a resort in France invests in a non-detachable chairlift., everyone complains
"shields"? Maybe you mean canopies? We don't have those in Oregon. Don't need them. Lifts will be closed if the winds are strong enough (45-50 mph with higher gusts) or if surface visibility is very low (like 20 feet).

Dusty Baker Ive lived in Chicago for most of my life. Where did you board near Seattle? Whenever I go to Vail it’s always seriously icy.
Dusty Baker So you haven’t checked out the snowiest resort in the world- Mt Baker?
Dusty Baker Vancouver is closer to Seattle than Mount Bachelor I’m pretty sure
Dusty Baker Whistler is 4 hours away whereas Bachelor is 5-6 hours.
I'm a builder and I really enjoy watching this building process, I whished be part of one like this. Amazing experience! Great job!!!!
Great work from the lift team and Doppelmayr to make such an incredible lift!
Anyone else see that HUGE line at 6:27?
Looks like a regular pow day line at bachelor lol.
Ive seen worse. Strawberry gondola at snowbasin on a powder day is far beyond longer than this.
Then why did the only build a 4 seater and not a 6-8 seater? :) Probably too expensive.
