Great video! It was very informative, as well as, interesting. I have a new found respect for the PistenBully grooming machine and their operators. Plus the shear size and beauty of Laax, makes me want to go there today.
Always like seeing these heroes in action that make sure we have great slopes to have fun on :) Was there last summer and I’ll be there again in just over a week. Can’t wait to go skiing again 😁
I skied every Friday night with snow at Snoqualmie Pass for 10 years. Sometimes it was a foot of fresh wet snow with an inch of crust. You don't turn in the snow. Your tracks look like hash marks. Some nights we were the only ones on the hill and we chased the ski patrol. A groomed hill is really enjoyable and a whole lot of people have a lot of fun because of those groomers. Iguana
Laax is my favorite Skiresort I love the perfekt slopes and I can often practice on my jumps in the snow park :) One question, can you please name all music in this video 🙏🙏
I thought working as Greenkeeper would be the best job. But this seems even better. Working in such heights must be awesome. I guess working as Greenkeeper in summer and as Pistenbully-Driver in winter, would be like heaven. Grüße aus NRW ihr Schwizerdütsche :D
@Chase Leibowitz The infrastructure has to come from somewhere. The roads to the resort only exist because of the resort. The first aid and medical teams have to be on station. The whole place exists to ski. You get what you pay for.
@@dadcanufixit Its set up now for season passes. I have a pass at Killington Vt and purchase early 1000.00 which is reasonably. If you purchase a lift ticket for a day or two I think the price is insane. For those of us who have the virus skiing is not an option, its a way of life and who we are, I was born to ski, so is my daughter. She is smart and moving west, I will follow.
@@mtadams2009 It's even harder for some who live in countries that have no snow or resorts for skiing. In these cases we have travel and accommodation expenses on top of ski passes. ok that was super interesting and impressive! but at the same time it makes me even happier about being in the backcountry and _not_ on the resort piste.

This is my first year as a groomer at a ski resort it is getting a handle on the blade but I find the more I do it the better I become.. any tips would be welcome thanks
Ever since Vail bought up one of our local resorts they like to take our dollars and spend it at their high end resorts, I say this because since their take over they’ve cut the number of qualified groomer drivers and left us with ones that will leave basically a curb down the middle a run. You’ll go from making big GS turns then out of nowhere hit one of these 4” curbs, or like yesterday we decided to go up because it was supposed to be warm and sunny, and thought we could go ride some fresh groomers to strengthen our legs for the powder days. But they seen the weather forecast and thought since we groomed yesterday, we’ll just do a couple tracks on each chair instead of their typical groom everything daily.

I never thought about the work at the beginning of the season - only the overnight repairs - very skilled work 👍
beautiful. whenever I visit the mountains I can find a calmness in the air that I cannot find anywhere else on this planet

As soon as our group can muster enough money, we are definitely going to Laax. That place has been on my bucket list for a while now!

White subtitles in the snow. Great idea
There is nothing like working in the mountains. I used to be a cable car machinist during summers, King of the Hill you are, all the time.

No wonder why you need a loan to get a season pass there
In California the resorts are shittier but pass prices are the same
Consider the insane ski prices in the US....

A Bully is a way better name than a Snow Groomer or Sno-Cat.
In Italian its Gatto delle nevi with translates to cat of the snows
and how many MILLIONS are tied up in those grooming machines.
They call them that because the company that those machines are is Pistenbully. Some mountains have Prinoth, another brand, or they have a mix
