This is the third part of my McLaren Honda Mp4/4 build in 1/20 from Tamiya. In this video. I use the decal set from MSM creations due to the age and condition of the original Tamiya ones.
Look out for the new "Do you know..." captions during the video.
The McLaren MP4/4, also known as the McLaren-Honda MP4/4, is one of the most successful Formula One car designs of all time. Driven by teammates Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna, the car competed during the 1988 Formula One season. It was designed by American engineer Steve Nichols, the full responsibility for the design of the car having been conferred on him by Ron Dennis. Gordon Murray, as Technical Director, subsequently confirmed this in an internal memo allocating responsibilities for the design department, nominating Nichols as chief designer for the car, and giving himself the role of liaising between the drawing office and production.

I actually saw a really good idea since then where you put a thin strip of tape down the centre of the car to help. Something for the next time I guess! 😂

MP4 in the name was not Malboro but Mclaren project 4, everything else you state was spot on
Actually I think it's both. If you look back, it first stood for Marlboro but was later changed to McLaren. Thanks for watching
@@BOABModels M was for Mclaren and was used from the start by Bruce Mclaren for his race cars, when Ron Dennis the owner of the business Project 4 took over he changed it to MP4 meaning Mclaren-Project 4.
if it had stood for Marlboro then the MP would have been dropped in the years where mclaren were sponsored by West and after tobacco sponsorship was banned

Thanks, Luke. Yeah, to a lot of people it is their favourite F1 livery hands down. I'd never realised the red was so bright before due to low quality photos and TV footage I suppose!

Thanks, Matt. Only the mould lines or other places. I usually find the Tamiya primer gives a good enough surface.

Hi could you tell me where you got the extra end plates from? I recently bought the same mp4/4 kit on eBay it was listed as used & 1 front & rear wing end plates are missing. I would much appreciate it.
So I used photo etch ones from the Perfect parts aftermarket set so I actually didn't use the kit ones at all.
I can check if I still have them if you like
