Beautiful, worked for my 2020 CX-5. I had the same problem as Daniel McGrane below, debris in the blades, likely the work of rodents. I dropped the fan, using a mirror to locate the screws up and under the dash and cowling.
Thank you for this video, I was able to pull my blower out in about 5 minutes and diagnose the problem. My fan started making a vibrating noise when turned up and I could tell it was out of balance. Turns out there were a few acorns and leaves inside the fan! Cleared the debris and all is well. Just a bit of advice, remove the back screw first when you are pulling the fan out. The fan will start to drop after you remove the front two screws further blocking your view of the back screw.
Thank you! I am not a mechanic, far from it, but with this video changed the blower motor and save one thousand dollars. Dealership was charging me 1100. I bought motor and in 30 minutes replaced.
Great vid! Short & sweet, and straight to the point. As others have suggested, I would def include relevant links that were mentioned in the video, but otherwise extremely useful.
This does NOT apply to Mazda 3 or Mazda 5. I own 1 of each. On both, it is located behind the highest part of the center of the dashboard, and (compared to all of the other blower motors I've ever done since becoming a mechanic in 2007) it is a MASSIVE pain in the ass.
Thanks to you guys, I just changed my 40A fuse, the 10A cabin fuses, the relay, the resistor and finally the blower motor on my 2011 Mazda CX-7 - God only knows how much I saved and the AC is blowing cold and hard once again!
MAZDA 5 HEATER BLOWER location is not under the glove box. its in Middle of the console which is very tight spot to reach it takes 4 hours labor just to removed and replace..Just to let every one know..
my mazda 5's heater is not working. it blows out very little and it blows out cool making it hard to drive in the cold and the rain. Do you have a video to fix the heater on a 2006 Masda 5?
Cant be. I'm trying to remove one from a 08. Its behind the mthr loving radio and is a 5 hour job. I'm pretty pissed off about it to say the least. Brake and accel pedal need to be removed and its comes out from the driver side
@@kurtperdew5601 did you remove the pedals or otherwise work around using the sst? This car has apparently been designed around the blower motor... Glad to see that they changed it on newer models. Doesn't help me much though 🙈
This doesn't cover the 5, My blower motor is under the dash and requires removal of the Gas/Brake and much dash panels etc...sure like to see that video, 2006 Mazda 5
@@jaytycruz On the Mazda 2 it's between the center console and the engine, you have to take the pedals off, the dash, everything. Complete nightmare, I just sold the car instead.
@@PearsonVES Thanks, we eventually tested the blower after struggling to get it out and it actually works. The reason why we thought it was the blower was cos it wasn’t going on at all. So it is hopefully the resistor which is much easier to replace!
@@jaytycruz mine was clogged with wool stripped off my mice on the engine side, I ended up having success by pushing the passenger seat all the way back then laying upside down and releasing the loose wool matter with a straightened wire coat hanger with a small hook hand bent into the end. It was tedious, you’ll need a head lamp too. My blower motor was still working tho but had a loud hum too it, afterwards all fixed onc that firewall wool was retrieved. If your blower fan is not even making a hum when you turn it off with the car engine off then it’s actually broken and needs to be replaced by an actual mechanic unless you have a few days to pull the dashboard to bits which I strongly don’t recommend
@@Drufi Thanks! We spent hours yesterday trying to strip the dashboard and then just decided to actually test the blower motor and it works. So it’s the resistor, thank god!
Thank you for the video and I appreciate what you're doing but I'd rather learn your native language then have to listen to your English. But seriously good video.
This video needs the title changed and they have known it for 3 years (just read all the comments at the bottom for proof) !! They don't change it because they get more views the way it is now, which is a lie !!! This video is only good for Mazda's before 2010. For Mazda's 2011 and newer, the fan is in the top center of the dash. It involves removing both the brake and gas pedals, along with the entire center console that holds the shifter and center storage box, and most of the passenger side of the dash behind the glove box. It takes approx. 4-6 hours to remove and replace this blower fan. Stop following these liars !!
@@filmrandom1648 I think you accidently replied to my comment, instead of the video. You need to copy then delete this and repost it higher beside your name and photo.
Ha ha if only that was the location of the blower motor for the Mazda 3. You should really change your title and not make it click bait like this. The Mazda 3 blower motor is in the middle of the dash and a whole of of parts have to be removed to access it. Just make the title Mazda CX9 blower motor cause all Mazdas are not on the same platform.

What year of Mazda does this video apply to?
What years does it apply to though??
How did you determine it was the blower and not a fuse?

Where is the link to get a new motor? or what is the part number?
Very good instruction

What Tools are Required to Perform Such Task?
So if it blows air and is not cold or slight cold what is it ?
Any chance you can do video for a 2017+ model mazda 3? The blower motor is located somewhere under the center dash/console...
Is the blower motor behind the radio of a 2017 Mazda 3 as well?
What about how to clean the drain that gets clogged up and causes the blower motor to fail because of leaking?

This doesnt come close to what is on a Mazda 5

Btw there is a plug on the actual fan motor in plug that, not the one connected to the car. Or else you’ll break the clip on the car .
Dead wrong on Mazda 2, it is in the middle and involves hours to access, at least with the aussie model. Wish it was as easy as this for me
