Reading the comments about the Nautilus reminds that beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure there is a watch for every person and a person for every watch. Some like bling while others like simplicity. Even though I personally don't care for the Nautilus I appreciate knowing more about it, its design and designer. So thanks TGV, for the education and knowing more helps me appreciate more.
Too funny.. but seriously I just bought 8 Casios Including 5 classic stainless steels, a calculator, a databank and a G-Shock square reissue from '83😍. Now back to real watches I guess😁
@@Joshua-lz9sk sorry but I'm living in Italy. Including brexit tax import, it will be roughly 1030 euro. Btw i was joking of course, I recently got my first real watch, not my real grail (aqua terra golf edition) but a Sarb033 and I'm fine with it :)
This watch does nothing for me. Great presentation and I absolutely love to learn the history of the watch. It gives me some appreciation for the watch. It just doesnt change my heart rate.
there's nothing like waking up and watching a TGV video before getting work done in the morning, it sets the tone for the day, love the quality of your videos TGV, keep it up. Grazie 😊
Absolutely best channel in watch community. Best reviews, you treat 10$ same as this Patek (which is something other channels could learn). Absolute class!
I just got one of my grail watches this weekend, a 2018 Sub and I’m just thankful for the journey it took me to get here and the journeys I will have with my sub. Love the channel.
I really like this model Nautilus in particular. The black markers pop beautifully on that silvered dial. But all that money and it has no hacking and even more frustratingly, no sizing adjustments in the bracelet, that really needs to change in the next model IMO. Personally I don’t get the sports hype around these. A Nautilus could just never be a daily wearer for me, that steel brushed and polished bezel would have me inching around every door frame, door handle, basically anything that’s wrist height! I think for the wear everyday and bang them about sports watches, i’d much rather be looking at Rolex, GS, Omega, Breitling, Tudor etc etc or something fancy like Blancpain or Breguet if I wanted to flex a little. Then getting a beautiful dressy watch for special occasions from Patek, probably in gold and ideally with an annual calendar complication. I can wear a sub or an Explorer etc and forget its there daily. But then still smile when I check the time. I don’t mind so much about the wear and tear from daily wear in those because they feel built for taking it. I don’t think I could ever wear a Nautilus or Royal Oak without wanting to bubble wrap it first! I guess your perspective changes when you have Patek money, if ur a multi millionaire, scuffing your watch bezel is no big deal! The Nautilus is just beautiful, but it’s about as sporty compared with real sports watches as a 4X4 SUV is an off-roader when compared with a Defender or something.
Expensive and distinctive, so people know what you have at a distance. Best of all, it's not a Rolex. Personally, I think it looks like a tacky watch that might have been sold at Sears in the 70s.
You know how to appreciate this watch only until you actually own one, the delicacy and comfort along with the settlement of the brand show tastes and confidence of the owner!
Dear Sir, Let me begin by saying that your channel and reviews, which resemble mini documentaries, are truly second-to-none. Your passion and enthusiasm comes through on everything you do, and is truly contagious. I credit you for reminding me of the joy of wearing a timepiece again. Years ago I fell victim to the belief that having a cellphone on one's person at all times made wearing a wristwatch obsolete. I realize now how silly that was. Thank you for pulling me back from the brink of the technological monotony that is our world today. With that being said, I would like to make an observation that I hope you will take to heart. Please consider that many of us, the "pleebs" as I believe Hugo referred to us, have a love and appreciation for the arts and culture that vastly outstrips our purses. Regardless of my heart and soul dreaming of "the finer things", the reality is, they only live in my dreams. Rolex, Omega, Grand Seiko shall never be for the likes of me. Even if I had that kind of disposable income, I would invest it in my children's education, as it is my obligation to provide for them a better life than I have been dealt. With great excitement, I purchased an SNK809 after enjoying your review. I wore it for two days before accepting that the numbers on the dial were simply too small for me to read. I gifted it to my better-half as her timex was long overdue for retirement. She was elated, and for that I was happy. I will not be purchasing another watch anytime soon as it is not in my budget. I chose to share my story with you as a way of illustrating that many of us will never know what it's like to own many of the fine timepieces that have crossed your desk. However, it doesn't mean we appreciate them any less. I am sure I speak for the multitudes when I say I forgive you for the time you spend nitpicking a clasp, the shape of a bezel, or a non-hackable movement etc. Thank you for your tremendous efforts and for the joy you share with so many. Please give my regards to Hugo. Thank you.
TGV, Not related to the video but I felt I had to comment. I have only come across your channel in the past couple of weeks but must have watched 50+ of your videos already. I have liked watches for a few years and have an Oris Aquis Titan big second hand, Seiko grey dawn samurai and Tag professional. With it being my wife and I’s 30th birthdays this year, and we have decided to buy each other an extra special watch, I have really got into the finer details of watches and their heritages etc and have learnt loads from your videos and find them so watchable compared to others so thank you and please keep producing and releasing the quality content. Thank you Dan
Arguably the best bang for buck Nautilus with the most useful set of complications, but I’m biased as an owner of this reference for the 2nd time pairing it with my 5960 P Anthracite dial. 120m water resistance trumps the 5712 and all the Royal Oaks. Mine has the grey dial making it more versatile as opposed to the blue or white. Good review regardless what Archie Luxury says about you ☝🏻😉
Good evening TGV, great you bring on the Nautilus! Yes the Nautilus is Genta‘s masterpiece. To speak openplay, the Nautilus is a watch that grows. I was not a big fan of the Nautilus when I started to get into watches, but with the time I really got into the design. The inclusion of the moonphase complication is georgious in this piece, great hybrid between sport and dress. Best regards!
Evening my friend. I am totally with you, I was exactly the same about the Nautilus when I got into watches too! Thank you my friend, glad I was not alone. Best regards, TGV
This watch screams nautical. 20,000 leagues under the sea is one of my all time favorite books. I hope I can expand my watch collection this year. I know it is unlikely to buy anything by Patek Philippe, but this year is the year for a Seiko.
This is the Patek to have. The renowned Nautilus case, the hallmark Moon-face dial, the trademark Annual calendar. Fantastic review. If this watch was a women, it would be no one, coz the perfect women does not exist. If it does its gonna cost as much as this Patek.
Can’t say I like sports watches that much; luckily it means that dress watches are going for less! I couldn’t believe it when I realised one can get Caletravas for less than a Daytona. Still, good for me I suppose!
Generally, the more expensive the watch, the bigger a dweeb the owner is. See Rolex guys crying about scratches and TGV himself being afraid to wash dishes in a watch with less than 150m WR.
Hello, I’m curious as to how you can obtain such watches from WatchBox. I understand you have a working relationship with them. But do they keep a sample of watches for review and sell the ones that are not on the sample or are the watches you review all in their sales inventory? If the latter, how do they ensure it is in the intended sales condition prior to lending it to you for review? Thank you, love this channel, keep up the good work!
I'm quite new to watch collection and was just wondering if it's important to be gentle when wearing automatic watches? I've got a seiko skx and don't want to harm the movement , should I not move (rigerously)?? Maybe not shake my arm or wrist much 😂
I didn't know Genta got his inspiration from a sci-fi novel to design a watch! One can really draw inspiration from anything. It's also interesting how Genta came up with futuristic design for it's time, which remains as a classic design today.
Great video TGV, recently brought a smiths deluxe after watching one of your videos, you should do a video on there history, they have got alot of heritage and hardly anyone knows about them. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Thanks for this series, TGV - it’s giving me exposure to things I would not otherwise have considered. Are the Nautilus and Royal Oak movements as robust as Rolex? I’m guessing not - maybe like comparing Maserati to Land Rover. TGV, at some point downstream it would be interesting for you to come back and talk about which of these high end pieces you personally liked best, compared to the others, and why. (I think the Romain Gauthier is going to be pretty difficult to beat, ultimately.)
In the real world, the Maserati might be in the shop even more than the Land Rover. Not sure about the Royal Oak but the Nautilus is great around water.
Hey gentry's I have a major question, I currently have a Citizen Eco Drive Dive watch priced at around $150 I'm asking for a really nice watch for my birthday and that's it and I want a Seiko SKX but there are so many options. I am currently looking into the SKX007 or "Mini Turtle" which one do you guys recommend? Please respond thank you!
I’ll stick with my Seiko cocktail time: it’s got hacking! .... seriously, the finishing on the nautilus bracelet is insane. I also love the movement finishing and the annual calendar complication. The AP Royal Oak still has more character somehow though. Great and enjoyable review!
I'm not sure if this is too niche, but I was wondering if you could do a video on reliable companies and manufacturers? Or if you could give a pointer to where to go and what to look for in terms of reliability. With the internet being so widespread, it is increasingly easy to come across brands I've never heard of, but seem to be able to talk the talk. Which is strangely common. A little info on myself. I'm from the UK and have just finished college/6thForm and have began a new job. It's rather low pay until I save up and get myself on my own two feet and living for myself. I'm fairly new to watches, I own a rotary, a seiko, and an orient. I didn't pay anymore that £170 for any of these. The seiko was on sale from 350 to 170. But my budget is anywhere up to 300 at the moment. I'd maybe consider pushing that to 400 or 500 if it's a particularly special piece. But as for my original point. There are many watch companies out there, how easy is it to decrypt and decipher which are legitimate and which are pushing false stock? Any info would be much appreciated and as always, keep up the cracking videos.
The 5726 is great, but imo the 5712 has so much more character. Yes, there's no symmetry to speak of when comes to sub dials, but I think that gives it a quirky, imperfect quality that's rarely found in haute horology. Plus, you can't deny that micro rotor movement is stunning.
Absolutely fantastic watch TGV though I actually prefer the simplicity of the aquanaut... but that's just me. I suspect I will just have to marvel from a distance because I'm not sure I could ever justify the expense even if I could afford it. Which is where your very excellent videos come in.
I would love it if you could review the Vacheron Overseas. the way you review watches are very in depth and the closeups you do are incredible. Would love to see how it compares. I've heard the overseas bracelet is much better
A great run-up on the 5726. There are quite a few for sale around the 100-145K dollar price point on secondary market websites, depending on their dial color. However, some of these Nautilus watches extend back two and more years, being labeled as unworn or new. Is it reasonable to expect that these watches have suffered and declined somewhat from their two or more years of inactivity? Is any loss of their mechanical function recoverable, in your opinion? Are they better stored wound or unwound?
Very nice video. I like it more when you get to the point quicker and THEN you make your comments. I find it way more useful that way, keeps me interested. If you could do a JLC reverso tribute duoface that would be amazing.... it is lining up on my next luxury watch, quickly! Great video once again
Totally agree about the dial colour - that aside, beautiful watch with the coolest model name ever! - it’s a shame I d have to live in a cardboard box to buy one lol !!
When I got a chance to handle one I thought it was a little underwhelming. The Calatrava I expected to be a bit boring but I thought it was exquisite. The Reverso really surprised me as well. JLC’s finishing is incredible for the price.
I don't know how people can say this watch is ugly. It's fantastic. Just because it's not gawdy and filled with sub dials and daimonds doesn't mean it's not beautiful.
Great watch but to sporty for me even though im 20 years old they say I have old soul I prefer classic . my all time grail watch is Patek Phillipe Grand compllications 5237R. Also another great episode . All the best, Kristijan
Any thoughts on reviewing a Grand Seiko Quartz (9F)? Seem controversial bc quartz but with GS precision and quality. Think Watchbox has a 9F GMT currently.
I’m addicted to urban gentry‘s videos but scared at times to Watch them I don’t wish to increase my must-have list of watches i’m very proud I went from eight down to six hopefully he’ll slow down so I can catch up I know I know I’m a watch junkie
Great review TGV! You have started the year with a blast. Could you please review the Longines Master C. Retrograde or the Frederiq Constant Classic Moonphase FC-330MC4P6B ? Best wishes! Radu
mate, you got the best intros in the industry! that's for sure, "grosse Kunst" as we say in German. I liked the anarchic visuality of the last one, its collage styled assembly of conspiracy themed pictures was astonishing.
Thanks that was nice to see. First Nautilus I’d actually wear. Beautifully balanced design. Amazing improvement just moving the date to six imo. Pretty sure Patek would know how to make a bracelet and doubt it’s the “same as found on much cheaper brands”. Yep value gas changed in a short time I got a 5117g back in 2004 and could have had a Nautilus for less but didn’t like it. Now it’s about three x price even though it shared the same movement and stainless steel instead of white gold. Wild. Still glad I own mine as you should wear the watch you value most not the watch with the most value as it were.
Let me guess, you want to put a nato on it don’t you?
Reading the comments about the Nautilus reminds that beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure there is a watch for every person and a person for every watch. I own a 5726...the current production 5726A-001. It's the only SS Nautilus that comes with an alligator strap. I absolutely love it!
my grail is a f91w, probably i can buy it in 3 years
That is awesome. Bravo.
Too funny.. but seriously I just bought 8 Casios Including 5 classic stainless steels, a calculator, a databank and a G-Shock square reissue from '83😍. Now back to real watches I guess😁

This watch does nothing for me. Great presentation and I absolutely love to learn the history of the watch. It gives me some appreciation for the watch. It just doesnt change my heart rate.
Wow the production value on the intro, and indeed the whole video, was awesome TGV!
Thanks for the amazing content!
That intro was so good! Most epic intro ever. I'd say even Hollywood movies don't have such epic intros/trailers/teasers

One of the best watch channels on RUclips
Ah, the Nautilus. From the name to the almost brutalist design sensitivity ticks all the right boxes. As per usual, a beautiful presentation Governor.
A blue dial nautilus 5711 is by far my favorite watch. Thank you TGV for reviewing this amazing watch.
Your production is shockingly good, thanks for making this video. Keep up the amazing work
The Nautilus 5726 is definitely a very fine time piece and a credit to the maker's name. It's also a watch I'll never, ever own.

Wonderful video as always! Thank you for taking the time to make these. I find them relaxing!
Love the white dial. Really makes the watch pop!
This is my ultimate grail with blue dial ❤️😍😍
I have to say, that watch looks the nuts.
The videos are getting better and better. I really enjoy it. Keep on that brilliant work my friend.

That watch could have been designed today. Amazing design. It will always look modern and futuristic. The dial, the hands, the indices - perfection
This is the Patek to have. The renowned Nautilus case, the hallmark Moon-face dial, the trademark Annual calendar. Fantastic review. If this watch was a women, it would be no one, coz the perfect women does not exist. If it does its gonna cost as much as this Patek.
Brilliant work my friend. Patek Philippe has to be my favorite. I'll have to admire it through your video as its out of reach for me. 👍
What a capolavoro! Seriously... both your review and the watch itself... in the end I still prefer the royal oak myself. Have a wonderful day
Can’t say I like sports watches that much; luckily it means that dress watches are going for less! I couldn’t believe it when I realised one can get Caletravas for less than a Daytona. Still, good for me I suppose!
Haha, I love your style and outlook my friend. The Calatrava is such a classy classic.
Thank you my friend.

I agree totally. Big chunky sports watches that owners won't even wear when it's raining seem pointless. I love slender dress watches MUCH more.
Generally, the more expensive the watch, the bigger a dweeb the owner is. See Rolex guys crying about scratches and TGV himself being afraid to wash dishes in a watch with less than 150m WR.
Loving the intro music! Well done again TGV, thank you for the content
Thank you Kurt :D

Never been a fan of the RO or the Nautilus. After seeing you show this piece off, I really like it. Thanks TGV!
This was definitely one of my favorite intros

This is my holy grail. White dial is beautiful
Such a lovely design, the Nautilus. A good example of case and bracelet working in harmony.
No hacking? Guess I will stay with my Sarb, sorry Philippe but I only accept the best
As Hugo wisely said, Patek is just a good beater.
I'm quite new to watch collection and was just wondering if it's important to be gentle when wearing automatic watches? I've got a seiko skx and don't want to harm the movement , should I not move (rigerously)?? Maybe not shake my arm or wrist much 😂

TGV, are there different grades of sapphire crystal?
When I hear "Patek", there's only calatrava on my mind.
Same!

I got my Two Tone DateJust last week and I absolutely love it.

Just got my first mechanical piece. Seiko 5! Truly starting the hobby. Onwards and upwards.
The best Patek white dial. Classy yet sporty.
A beautifully filmed review that does justice to this steel beauty. Well done.
Best intro yet.
That opening was epic good job, I don't have a grail in mind not yet anyway there are to many fun watches out there to just have one grail just yet.
That looks more elegant than the chronograph version.
Fabulous watch, with that said the Royal Oak is still the watch that "stirs the drink" , great review !
That is awesome watch. Keep up the good work.
My absolute unobtainable grail watch unless I win the lotto. Nice video!!
Could you please do a review on the VC 56 series particularly the Complete Calendar with Grey Dial. Thanks
Robocop blue is such an accurate description of that shade
Cracking Good Video, I totally enjoy the history illustrated with the magazine ads
Awesome review!
I would love to see a TGV review of the IWC big pilot. Maybe a look at the first 5002 ref and the newest one?
Nice. But from the big three I’d go Vacheron - Overseas
It's a beautiful watch, a real work of art.
Great watch but to sporty for me even though im 20 years old they say I have old soul I prefer classic .
my all time grail watch is Patek Phillipe Grand compllications 5237R. Also another great episode .
All the best,
Kristijan
Any thoughts on reviewing a Grand Seiko Quartz (9F)? Seem controversial bc quartz but with GS precision and quality. Think Watchbox has a 9F GMT currently.
That’s my lottery win watch totally love it.
Cheers TGV 👍
What a gorgeous watch. Sigh: this is about as close to it as I’ll ever get. 😂
I’m addicted to urban gentry‘s videos but scared at times to Watch them I don’t wish to increase my must-have list of watches i’m very proud I went from eight down to six hopefully he’ll slow down so I can catch up I know I know I’m a watch junkie
Wow. Very nice watch for sure. Very unique yet tasteful.
Patek is a high end brand which Checks all the marks for haute horology...but with one problem: It doesn’t make me smile looking at their watches!
Great review TGV! You have started the year with a blast. Could you please review the Longines Master C. Retrograde or the Frederiq Constant Classic Moonphase FC-330MC4P6B ?
Best wishes!
Radu
I like this montage! beautiful alternation between the review and the war room
Hi from Holland, great review! My favorite is the AP RO 15500ST with black dial which I recently bought. Enjoy your watches, it's about the journey.
mate, you got the best intros in the industry! that's for sure, "grosse Kunst" as we say in German. I liked the anarchic visuality of the last one, its collage styled assembly of conspiracy themed pictures was astonishing.
These watches really are marvelous looking.
Another great vid about an awesome timepiece. Thanks a bunch and keep it up, TGV! Very best regards from Geneva !
