- In this devlog we'll be improving my platformer enough for it to not suck anymore.
I hope you'll enjoy this video, as I put quite a bit more effort in the editing and voice over than the previous videos. I still have a far way to go, both as a creator and game developer, but I am pretty damn happy with this video :)

If only I had the computing resources to do so
Starting games is easy but finishing games is a struggle. I hop from idea to idea like a chicken with its head cut off.
You should use unity's tilemaps for designing the levels
I'm definitely planning to, just haven't set up all the different tiles I'd need to use yet (plus I still need to figure out all the plugins/coding to use tilemaps more effectively)
I challenge you to make a good game that has to have 1000 plays in Bloxels!

Improving indeed
One thing that will help with level design is giving your level a name.
Basically the gimmick (or theme) this level is trying to show off (e.g. "labyrinth"). Get a random word generator until you find something good.
This will also help your players. Assume a player really likes your game and wants to talk about it. Would they be able to describe the current level to their friend, that has never seen the game before, in 1-2 sentences?

Okay now that i actually watched the video, i can say that i really love everything you did. The double jump is great, the dash is good, but please add a dsshing animation. Walljumping is a great idea and it doesnt look bad, at least not from what ive seen. Great progress overall. Maybe one day ill get to play it???
I am definitely going to make a separate animation for the dash (and probably also the double jump) but for now I was just focussing on the gameplay and not the art.
The problem with wall jumping was that it felt awful and was horrible to control, I agree that from just seeing the footage it looks fine but in reality it was just the worst.

i absolutely love this game already, amazing looking style. one thing tho, maybe make a proper tileset cuz its gonna take forever to do it by hand. also a dash animation but other than that its great. i would pay money to buy this if it ever comes out. keep up the good work :]

Hi I'm Seth and I'm making a super smash bros like superhero fighting game called xenomon on game maker 2
i don't if i'm wrong but why are you drawing the whole level you can maek tilesets and use them just like the way you build levels in super mario maker
About bosses,levels or enemies if it cannot be defeated without taking damage something needs to change that doesn’t mean it should be extremely easy though
Why didnt you use tilemaps? Im trying to find out the optimal way to level design.

I watched the video and I got to say, all the features you added are great but I recommend adding a double jump animation since it would fit nicely.
Everything that currently has a screen shake will get a full animation at some point, this is mostly just temporary.
