- This simple but elegant side dish would go well with any holiday dinner or the Sunday roast. It requires only one pan and the cooking is done on top of the stove, saving room in the oven for the turkey, ham, or other roast.

First AM GLAD RUclips SUGGESTED THIS VIDEO,Secondly wow just wow at how simple you made it look. Old is indeed Gold here sir. LOve from Kenya in East AFrica and lastly love the apron collection behind you...
Thanks Ben. I am pleased you liked the video. -Dennis
@@MobileHomeGourmet I really loved it and am a fan. Simplified it very well sir Dennis 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Just love how pleasant you are, Dennis. Thanks for another great video! 🙏🏼
Thank you Sal. I appreciate it. --Dennis
i just finished reading your sunday blog and congratulations are in order!!!!! Your first tomato of the summer - and that wonderful beauty photo of the bright red tomato just before plucked from the vine is professional quality.
And i’ve never seen tomato plants that tall so early in the summer. You have quite the green thumb - you should be very proud of your results!!!! Here’s to continued success.
Thanks Nancy. Not to be overly humble, but I don't know why the photography is so good (give credit to Nikon) and the tomato plants are so tall (give credit to RUclips). I think Santa Barbara might have the ideal climate in which to grow tomatoes. They amaze me, and I watched them grow. -Dennis
It's a great recipe. The ingredients are fresh. I'll cook with your recipe at home later!! I'll come back later to see the recipe ~~~~~~~~
I hope you enjoy it. -Dennis
These look divine!!
Thanks Cammie. -Dennis
Hey i feel like you might like Tartiflette, it's a french dish from the Alps. it's really lovely. It's more of a wintery dish for energy and keeping warm but might still be nice right now.
I hadn't heard of that. I Googled it and it looks really good. I need to try that soon. Thanks for the suggestion. -Dennis
im embarassed to admit i am familliar with the dish but if someone asked i would not be able to tell them what defined the dish. god knows youd be an expert at this one, i dont know anyone who has carmelized more onions than you (or can do it better). the color on those potatoes looked perfect! this is a winner - lyon's most famous son, mr. pepin, would approve!
Thanks for the positive feedback. It surprises me that I never knew about this side dish. I really like potatoes. I've made my fair share of potatoes au gratin, but somehow I missed this preparation until late in life. I'll be making this again. -Dennis
Thank you, Dennis. I love potatoes also. I am making these tonight!
Hope you enjoy them. I'm already thinking of a variation. Maybe a little shredded cheddar cheese on top, then a quick trip under the broiler. -Dennis
I’m convinced you are the only cooking youtuber who knows what caramelized onions really should look like - the white plate was an excellent teaching technique!
I really want to try your sauté method of half butter/half olive oil. Is there a brand of olive oil you think is better than others?
As always, your videos are educational and pure pleasure!!!!!
Thanks Nancy. I hadn't thought much about that white plate except that the onions didn't look very colorful in a dark skillet. As for olive oil, I buy the ones sold at Costco. I use the pure olive oil for cooking and the extra virgin for flavoring. -Dennis
I haven't made these in awhile. After seeing your vid, I'm going to make them for our lunch tomorrow with scrambled eggs. They are sooo delicious! My Gram taught me how to make them.
Looks absolutely delicious 🇨🇦
Thanks. It is! -Dennis
This looks both delicious & simple Dennis! I may be frying some of these up tonight!
Thanks Mea. The simplicity along with the elegance of this side dish captured me. And it's delicious too. -Dennis
THANKU GOD BLESS YOU
Thanks.
Delicious and simple... I've heard that so many times .... about myself ;-) XOXOX
Thanks Scott. I'm already planning to make this dish again. It's good. -Dennis
Hi Dennis, I love your recipes & presentation . Thank you for sharing. I made these last week and failed miserably😂 some burned a little and others turned into potato chips. I watched this viedo again to see what I did wrong and I think I sliced them to thin. I noticed yours are much thicker than mine were. They were still 😋. Definitely going to give it another try. God bless you!
Oh no! Thanks for sharing your experience Catherine. If I remember correctly, the original recipe said to slice them about half an inch thick so that they would be a little crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I really like these. I plan to make them again. -Dennis
@@MobileHomeGourmet Hi Dennis, YAY🎉🎉🎉🎉They turned out amazing!!!! I finally figured out the problem. I needed to turn the heat a bit higher & I used maple bacon & rice oil to fry them 😋!!! Thank you❤❤❤❤❤
Good. A success. I like to hear about those. I'm happy to know you enjoyed the potatoes. Thanks for telling me. -Dennis
👍👍
Thanks Gerard. -Dennis
I love potatoes - it looks delicious! I need to purchase a new pan. What kind do you use?
Hi Jim. I have several skillets. They're my most used pans. Some are aluminum; some are stainless. For this video I used a non-stick stainless skillet I bought at Costco because it's induction compatible. I probably like all the skillets about the same. Thanks for the comment. --Dennis
