I started using a lanyard when I started flying a Yuneec Typhooon H. That controller is the size of a kitchen table, but I LOVED it. Now, I'll only fly with a lanyard.

I had one of those too. Big drone big remote.

Another option is cotton carrier . It is a camera holder that gas a bracket for drone remotes. Lanyards allow the controller to hang down in your field of view while bending over to check on drone. The cotton carrier is a hard bracket that goes into a chest holder that straps down on the body tight. It holds the controller in a location ready to fly.

The lanyard is specially necessary if you like to hand launch and recover the drone (I do). I am curious why DJI does not include it in the drone. Great recommendation for new and old drone pilots.

I hand catch a lot and the lanyard allows me to do that and keeps my left hand available to operate the throttle. (Left stick) Really a necessity for any drone pilot. Thanks for doing this video.

The DJI RC Lanyard Kit is out of stock on your website. I'd like to get one- approximately when will they be back in stock?

My number one accessory is a night light, because sometimes it's hard to find the drone in the air. Even in the daylight. My second best is lanyard of course.
    Thanks for sharing Rick. 👍👍👍

Raymond, thanks for the post and I use a beacon as well and would have that in my top 5 accessories. The lanyard is higher for me because of the danger of damaging the controller if I drop it (and I will).

That lanyard bracket you have on the RC, from Sunnylife I believe it says, do you know if it also fits on the RC2? Are the screws the exact same distance apart? I only have the RC2, but it's hard to find a lanyard bracket like that one. They only seem to sell for the RC at the moment.

Yes, we have a lanyard kit to fit the DJI RC2 and a few other accessories on our website here - www.dronevalley.com/store/c49/DJI_Air_3.html. We'll have a bunch more new ones available over the next few weeks so be sure to check the page. Thanks for the support!

I have experimented with lanyards for years. Settled on a suoer comfortable single hook to a back-mounted attachment point for RC, and a 2 hook attachment to RC Pro (RM510) that attaches to a 3D Printed mount thats suoer slim and fits in cases without destroying the foam. The damn single hook, a spring-closed carabiner style kept catching, opening and dropping the RC to the deck. Not Good! Fixed by adding a "round key ring spring closed thingee"

I used to fly with a lanyard because that's what everyone else where doing. But if you think about it... having a lanyard will just make you walk around with your controller hanging around you neck when you don't use it. For obvious reasons you should not be anywhere near your controller and it should always be powered off, unless you are flying. I always prepare everything first and the last thing I do is to power up the controller and I fly. When I land, the first thing I do is to power off the controller and put it away.

I appreciate that everyone is different in their flying style but for me there are a lot of times where i need my hands free. For example, changing out the battery or checking the footage from the memory card requires both hands and being able to sling the controller around my neck for a few minutes is helpful.

If you ever saw somebody drop one with a $15k+ jet in the air, you would clearly understand why you use one.
