Its the perfect gift for a person who doesnt know much about watches: its extremely well finished and a gorgeous dial, quartz accuracy with a smooth sweep which will be different, has a great bracelet, and a simple design. This is an excellent choice. Really appreciate this review. At $85 CAD it even beats the mighty Casio Duro.

That is an incredibly good price Al. That sand dune one is definitely my favourite. Nice Grand Seiko looking hands too and I'm totally ok with the high beat quartz and two years battery life is fine, the batteries are cheap and if you're rotating watches maybe pulling out the crown will save battery? I'm not sure if this works or not. I'm pleased that they don't have quartz written on the dial. It's one thing I never liked about some of the Escapement Time watches. I agree, put sapphire on it and charge a bit more. Btw I have a 19mm lug width Orient and a 20mm Nato or Perlon fits very well and looks fine and a nice sand, green or beige will look great on this. Excellent review as always.

Mine arrived today and it is every bit as good as you say. The clasp has slightly misdrilled holes but it still functions correctly.
Hopefully Addiesdive continues producing different versions with this case size/movement combo.
I live in hope that they do an OP sundial and an Explorer with applied indices.

Just scored a brown sand dial for £36 incl tax posted from Aliexpress! Hate the logo and text but I feel they balance the dial well, deep sea hunter is laughable but I could not pass this up at sub-£40. Sterile might be good but it would seem unbalanced so I’d agree a new logo would be a better option. Sapphire isn’t an issue for the price point and I’m a vintage Seiko guy and love a quartz - mecha absolutely sealed the deal with a sweep hand. Gorgeous can’t wait for it to arrive. Great review Al! You’re right, this is priced too low for what’s on offer here. It looks stunning, but I’d gladly pay a couple more bucks for a sapphire crystal option and better branding.

All this needs is slightly longer hour markers (with thinner chapter printing), AR sapphire and the removal of some text, specifically 'ADDIESDIVE' and 'DEEPSEAHUNTER'
I'd definitely like to see the "Deepseahunter" removed. I don't mind the Addiesdive branding but I think if they toned it down a bit, they'd sell more watches. Thanks for watching!!
This is the best review on rhis watch ive seen. Its a nice watch with a few fatal (to me) flaws - the dive logo,.the text below rhe pinion and the 19mm lug width.

Cool watch. Would love to see a magenta or burgundy dial color though. As for the branding. I actually like their branding and logo. Doesn't detract from the watch for me. I've seen worse.

Great vid! Nice little review on a nice little watch, TY 👏 It's unique, it's compact & seems very wearable, better brac & clasp than Seikos come with stock¹ and I am interested by the mechaquartz. I always say to myself "eww, quartz" before purchasing a quartz watch that I end up really liking. To wit: Casio Edifice EFR-S108D.
Edit: ¹...at 3-10x the cost: cheap pressed clasp, mineral crystal, err, "hardlex", and a bezel insert that *may* align with the hr/min markers. TY Seiko 🙄 Got me feeling like a really valued customer.

This dial is so braw it need to speak for itself, get rid of all unnecessary text....the logo doesn't bother me, my inner child and all that....but pick one or the other here or a change altogether....🏴⌚🏴⌚

Im really torn on weather to buy this one or not. On one hand the movement is superior to a regular quartz, as someone who always prefer mechanical watches. And looks wise, the watch really doesnt scream tacky or cheap unlike some of the "homage" watches produced by similar low cost brands. But the thing that really bothers me is the Addiesdive logo, as it look like some kind of scuba-diving club logo or, if squinting your eyes a bit, a pirate flag.
I hardly notice the Addiesdive branding when I wear their watches. Thanks for watching 👍👍

Great effort, if this was upgraded it would be a bigger hit, 1) Sapphire crystal 2) 20mm lugs and 3) looks like an explorer homage mod with a Grand Seiko dial, needs a GS esq case at 36mm

Great review 👍. I thought about buying this in the sale. I loved the dial (and the white one), it's a little small and the logo and text are heavy handed, I don't mind mineral, but the 19mm lugs are a deal breaker for me.

@@TheChzoronzon Just recently, I've noticed more and more 19mm and 21mm straps on AliEx. I've now actually bought a nice brown leather strap for this. I've also bought this in white and bought a really nice green strap for it.

A good alternative to the Casio EfV 100D ? - 36mm ( the 2 I have have got excellent lume).
19mm straps are pain to get ( Barton? )- in UK just plain NATOs, Crown & Buckle ( USA but keep order under £130 - p& p =£10 , no customs but don't get the Chevron straps- get the NATO single pass).
Take a 20mm strap and shave two half millimeters off with a sharp knife! Easy.
Seems the AD2059 ticks most of the boxes on your wish list.
I'm torn now which to go for.

It's so elegant for the price and gives the look of a much more expensive piece, but then the Deep-Sea-Hunter garbage makes it void of any authenticity and is a deal breaker.

Between the 19mm lug width and the lack of a sapphire crystal this is a hard pass for me. I really like the way it looks , but I have 30-40 20mm straps.
I'm keeping this one on the bracelet, so 19mm LW isn't a big deal for me. I can live with the mineral glass at the price but I wish they'd charged a bit more and used sapphire. Thanks for watching 👍👍

I must be lucky, as I've never bought an item from AliExpress that failed to arrive. On the rare occasion that I had a "dead on arrival" watch, I got a full refund via the AliExpress dispute process. However, I've never had to make a long term warranty claim so far & I have my doubts about that, so I can appreciate that buying from AliEx won't suit everyone. Thanks for watching 👍👍

OK, just got mine in the mail....I ordered the light blue.
I am way UNDER amazed......
The dial is a very unappealing blue color and the 'wave' pattern is very weak and only really apparent in the upper 1/3 of the dial.
Oh well.....I guess I'll gift it or give it away......

Sorry to hear you're not happy with the blue version. I've still kept the sand colour in my collection despite having 70+ watches and despite my wrist being a bit too large for it. I love it. Puzzled by your crystal poll asking if lack of a sapphire crystal would be a deal breaker. Then you cite a vote of 39% as a reason they should have sapphire. I like a sapphire crystal, too. But in most corners 61% would be a clear majority.
Of course you are correct that 39% is the minority. However, of all the people who would want to buy this watch, Addiesdive will potentially lose 39% of sales by using a mineral crystal (assuming that no-one would actually prefer mineral).Thanks for watching 👍👍

Addiesdive is a Chinese watch company. The VH31 movement in this watch is made by the Seiko group of companies. According to the website Caliber Corner, the VH31 is made in Japan.

How do you get it for 55$ on the sale? I get 69$ at the checkout...
During the sale it was $63, less $8 "spend and save" discount, therefore $55. Depending on where the buyer lives in the world, Aliexpress may also add tax at the point of checkout, for e.g. in the UK 20% gets added, when the total items from the same seller are less than £135. a really nice watch and the proportions are right, but the watch glass protrudes, which looks great, but is therefore very prone to scratches.
Why only mineral glass is installed there remains a mystery to me.
It's better to pay a little more for sapphire glass, but you get something for that, but unfortunately it's not a watch for me.
The same applies to the ad2029, also protruding glass but only mineral glass. That's really a pity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, they should have charged more and used sapphire. To be fair to Addiesdive, I've also had more expensive watches from Seiko and Orient that had domed mineral glass crystals. I must be lucky, as I never scratched them. Thanks for watching 👍👍

The bracelets almost never fit my 20 cm wrist....

Lol, normally I prefer 39 to 42mm but I couldn't help but like this one. Addiesdive also make the AD2117 & AD2118 which have similar dials but a larger case size.

@@rickhammel9541 I thought that one also came in a larger size... Funny thing is, in the past, 36mm was considered oversized for mens watches, with most gents watches being 32-34mm. Just shows how taste/fashion changes.
@@TimeForAnotherWatch they make a 41mm now I believe, of course just after I got the 39mm. At least companies are making less of the 50mm plus monsters. I feel like the sweet spot is between 40 and 45mm

@@lidijabacic8348 When you say "dirt cheap" how cheap do you mean?? I've covered plenty of AliExpress auto watches for under $100 USD and so has lots of other channels.

@@lidijabacic8348 Before I started on RUclips, I once bought a mechanical watch that cost about $15. It only lasted a few weeks. I'd recommend spending a bit extra and buying an Addiesdive, Steeldive or Cadisen for example, if you want a low cost automatic.
