      @@camilam3975 It seems there is more than one translation of this sentence. One is : Love the shore; let others keep to the deep sea.
      But it could be : Love the beach, let others keep the deep sea.
      It could be easy to think that this was in reference of the environment he was gravitating in, and also literally where he was living.
      I like to think that he chose this for the double meaning. Like : Keep it easy and enjoy the life and let the others play with sharks.

    This home’s location is its biggest selling point. If I had the dough, I’d get it just for that! Love the backyard and courtyard areas in particular. Not keen on that hotel/office block or whatever it is, behind the house overlooking it mind. And the master suite isn’t that nice either (with the exception of that copper bathtub!) The other bedrooms are great though.

    As another person commented the house was built by Constance Talmadge, who is in the photo along with her mother. She and her sister, Norma, were big time silent film stars. Norma, built 1038 Palisades Beach Road, which was eventually owned by Cary Grant. Norma, as legend has it, gave Sid Grauman the idea for putting star's signatures at his new Chinese Theater when she stepped in wet cement. Her own signature is located by the main entrance.

    Considering the age, this property is pretty well kept with some modern details in certain areas, and the overall beach vibe that the location provides. Rather than a primary home, this would better make a great vacation home. Although this is far from all the modern homes you toured, it’s certainly charming and has the history someone might appreciate… except for all those hodgepodge tiles. They look like it may have been a cool idea at one point, but sorry, they gotta go now.

    I like that enes talks about the specs of the house and rarely concentrates on the furnishings as most are for staging. I notice in other videos they do more on the views or the furnishings and they know it doesn't come with the home. Enes also uses the real estate diction necessary and important to a buyer. Very professional but not boring as he adds a little humor.

    As someone live in SoCal, I parked right by the side the of the house several times in the past. The location is great for someone to stay for a vacation, but not great for living there given the public parking right next door and the heavy traffic around the house. That's why the price of the house was dropping over the past few years compared to the fast increasing housing market in SoCal. In rush hours, if you driving from I-10 back to your home here, just making a U-turn on pacific coast highway will keep you forever.

    I am not a fan of Spanish-style homes (they tend to be pretentious), and older homes in general, so I wasn't looking forward to this tour, but fell in love with this house within just a couple of minutes. Rather than being old and stodgy, this house is warm and inviting and just the right amount of cozy. (Sidebar: My wife and I had a good time pausing the video when Enes pointed out the group photo on the upper-floor hallway. The photo included Fatty Arbuckle, Howard Hughes, Louella Parsons, Beatrice Lillie, Dick Barthelmess, Ronald Colman, Rudolph Valentino, and Pola Negri. What a party that was!) Thanks for introducing us to this great house, Enes!

    I love this home! It's Spanish and vintage and right on the beach. The home is fresh and alive. It's vibrant with color via custom tiles and colorful splashes of art scattered throughout. It's beachy and casual yet elegant and warm. It has open-beam ceilings, spectacular architectural details, and a beautiful courtyard. I almost expected to see a Mariachi band serenading you. lol The living room and office space could use a little more color via some vibrant art to match the rest of the environment. The living room vibe is a little darker and slightly heavier in feel, maybe a little more formal than the rest but nothing a few cheerful accessories couldn't cure. I have a gorgeous 1920s copper verdigris patina chandelier with roses and leaves and purple prisms hanging from it. It would look fabulous in this place. I could live here and be very happy. I would be in a quandary as to whether to turn that last elevated bedroom into an art studio or keep it as it is:-) Oh, did I forget the tropical-looking pool overlooking the beach? Amazing!

    That third floor is where I would want to be also. It's a charming house for sure, but some things needs to be updated for sure, but it's a delicate balancing act to update while preserving the charm. The backyard is 100% old school Hollywood looking. I can see Greta Garbo or Myrna Loy living in a house like this when they were young.

    enes it looks almost like a dream to be on the beach, but I wonder how its like in terms of security and privacy?? I mean, the beach is not private of course, so what do the owners do to prevent kids or unwanted ppl away from the property?

    Two things: 1) is that copper tub installed backwards so when you’re sitting in it you would be facing the wall rather than facing the other way out to the rest of the bathroom?
    and
    2) The real estate broker’s website makes reference that plans are underway to KNOCK THE HOUSE DOWN!! and replace it with a “modernist” structure!!?? My God, say it isn’t so.
    I could see modernizing the doors and windows to make them more energy efficient and provide better beach views but knocking the whole house down. No!!

    • @garethskwarczek
      @garethskwarczek 3 года назад

      I found it on Google maps, knocking it down would be a god send. Its literally in-between 2 huge car parks

    • @bobthebikerny
      @bobthebikerny 3 года назад +2

      The plan to knock it down is not underway, that decision is up to the buyer. The modern house is just some architectural plans that are available to the buyer of the house if they want them. It's possible that someone bought the house with the idea to knock it down and build a new modern white box but then COVID hit and they are looking to unload it. There are houses all through LA that were bought by developers but then funding falls through at different stages of the project. The other day I saw a new house that stalled at just the shell with wiring and plumbing lines run. Others are just flat lots, some have foundations poured. This house needs new windows to replace those 95yo old single pane ones, preferably soundproof to block out the PCH noise on the East side of the house.

    • @toner37
      @toner37 3 года назад +1

      tearing down that home with all its history and such would be a damn shame. But agree getting more energy efficient windows would be good. Would be a struggle I think to find doors today that would match the style of the home.

    This is a great location. Couldn't quite identify all the shrubs in the garden but there are some drought-tolerant ones - smart for Southern Cal. House is a little dated but it's not bad at all. Classic, cozy. Some would say it's a feature, not a bug.
